Great Sahabi (RA) of Nabi (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) who accepted Islam along with his father and Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (RA) in the yeah 7 AH.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ زَرِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو رَجَاءٍ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " اطَّلَعْتُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ فَرَأَيْتُ أَكْثَرَ أَهْلِهَا الْفُقَرَاءَ، وَاطَّلَعْتُ فِي النَّارِ فَرَأَيْتُ أَكْثَرَ أَهْلِهَا النِّسَاءَ ". تَابَعَهُ أَيُّوبُ وَعَوْفٌ، وَقَالَ صَخْرٌ وَحَمَّادُ بْنُ نَجِيحٍ عَنْ أَبِي رَجَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ.
Narrated `Imran bin Hussayn: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I looked into Paradise and found that the majority of its dwellers were the poor people, and I looked into the (Hell) Fire and found that the majority of its dwellers were women." [Bukhari]
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ ذَكْوَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو رَجَاءٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْن ٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " يَخْرُجُ قَوْمٌ مِنَ النَّارِ بِشَفَاعَةِ مُحَمَّدٍ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَيَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ، يُسَمَّوْنَ الْجَهَنَّمِيِّينَ ".
Narrated `Imran bin Hussayn: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Some people will be taken out of the Fire through the intercession of Muhammad they will enter Paradise and will be called Al-Jahannamiyin (the Hell Fire people). [Bukhari]
قال ابن سيرين : سقى بطن عمران بن حصين ثلاثين سنة ، كل ذلك يعرض عليه الكي ، فيأبى ; حتى كان قبل موته بسنتين ، فاكتوى .
I have heard in the Bayans of Ulama that he was bed-ridden for 30 years and lay on one side and due to extreme pain could not even change sides but he was always cheerful and Sahaba (RA) were always astonished on positive outlook despite 30 years of pain and suffering.

I have never come across the nature of his illness, does any one know?
