There must be some sinister forces behind ISIS. Seriously no one can be that messed up in the head. They messed up for sunni rebels in syria and are trying to do the same in Afghanistan.

I have Salafi/AH acquaintances in the subcontinent who are distrustful of the Taliban because they are Hanafi/Deobandi. Sectarianism runs so deep, it clouds people's judgment. It becomes unfathomable that someone who is not on the "manhaj" can do anything positive for Islam. And, when this line of thinking is given access to guns and weaponry, we have ISIS.

Central intelligence agencies of many nations employ agent provocateurs to destabilize their enemies -- all part of "legitimate" statecraft. It is not far fetched to think that the US/India might have something to do with keeping ISIS active in Afghanistan.

Indeed. And that sinister force has the same name as the angel of death.

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai in an interview a couple of years ago with Fox News stated Isis was brought to Afghanistan by America. Spoke of Unmarked American Helicopters dropping of Supplies to them.

He gave similar interviews to both Al Jazeera and The Voice Of America.

Though they use the black flag but I think they are not the people that 'Black Flags from Khurasan' refers to.

Mulla Zabihullah Mujahid on why he refused to appear before the media all these years:

We had thought about appearing before the media, but our lives were under constant threat, with US drones flying overhead and dropping bombs, so we did not want to expose ourselves and endanger our struggle for the freedom of Afghanistan.

I never expected to live this long, and I am thankful to Allah Azza wa Jal that he has allowed me to see our struggle be successful, but I am also hopeful that Allah will fulfill my ambition of attaining martyrdom someday.

The US had spent about $24 billion in buying military equipment for Afghan forces since 2001. So, how come it had left $80billion worth of arms for the Taliban? Except for some guns and goggles, the rest are mostly junks.

Out of this $24B, the US Airforce had spent $486M to buy refurbished 20 older C-27A airplanes for Afghanistan Airforce. These planes were so bad that the US destroyed 16 of them after delivery & sold them to an Afghan scrap dealer for $32,000.

The above is from twitter but I think a lot of these war booty figures have been exaggerated by the anti taliban detractors to chastise America for pulling out. Don't think Taliban have gloated with numbers themselves apart from displaying war booty through victory parades.

Maybe Americans are artificially inflating the value of the equipment left behind so they can use it to explain away money that was originally spent on unofficial expenditure or money that has been 'lost'.

Exaggeration and lies are a part of any war. Some of these figures might be exaggerated by the opposition leaders in the US in order to undermine the current regime, some might be exaggerated by the current regime itself to hide other dubious usages of the taxpayers money.

I don't think the loss of this equipment in itself worries the US as much as the thought of Taliban passing it onto Pakistan who will then engage China who will pull its copy-paste act on the underlying technology.

The announcement did not happen. Maybe they are waiting for Panjshir to fall which could happen in the next few days.
