Maulana Tahir Siddiqui رحمة الله عليه a hidden gem, who was a student of Shaykh Hussain Ahmed Madni رحمة الله عليه passed away a few days ago.

Mufti Abdullah Nana on his twitter states:

Maulana Tahir Siddiqi was originally from Afghanistan & went to study in Darul Uloom Deoband around 1947.He studied & benefitted from some of the greatest scholars of the last century including Maulana Husayn Ahmed Madani, Maulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi, & others. He lived to his 90s

I had the good fortune of meeting Maulana Tahir Siddiqi on multiple occasions & benefitting from him. He would come to the masjid despite being in his 80s & was very humble & kept to himself. He was extremely happy when I gave him a book of Maulana Thaanwi as a gift!
#hiddengem

Popularity, fame, & celebrity status in our social media age is not necessarily a sign of great knowledge, piety, & Islamic practice. Many a time great knowledge and piety will be found in unknown scholars who are hidden gems waiting to be discovered. #seeking&youwillfind

(رُبَّ أشعث أغبر مدفوع بالأبواب، لو أقسم على الله لأبرَّه))؛ رواه مسلم.
Hadiths emphasize that there are individuals in our community who are not famous or celebrities, but they have great status in the sight of God which we can't imagine! We should benefit from these hidden gems

Some of my most life-changing, spiritual, and inspiring moments did not occur while listening to YouTube videos, or at mega conferences, or to celebrity speakers but rather in small in-person gatherings in the company of relatively unknown scholars whose words went to the heart

Many of the scholars who I have benefitted from the most spiritually & learned the most from are not on YouTube, do not have fan pages, do not have thousands or millions of followers/fans, but their simple speeches would bring tears to the eyes, revive the heart, & inspire

We need to seek, find, benefit from, and value such spiritual & knowledgeable individuals before it is too late. Many of these hidden gems are present among us, but we don't realize.

"The death of a [real] Islamic scholar & recognizer of God is like the death of the world."

One such scholar was Maulana Tahir Siddiqi was was living in Claremont,California and just recently passed away. May Allah forgive him, elevate his ranks, & grant him Paradise. Unfortunately, many of us have never heard of him or met him, even though we are living in California!

There are many other hidden gems out there in our communities who are great but relatively unknown scholars,& sometimes they might even be our local Imam! Rather than mourn them & lament not benefitting from them after their death when it is too late, we should seek them out now"

May ALLAH bestow his rahmah elevate his rank and grant Maulana a high maqam of Al firdaus , and sabr a Jamilah to his family. ameen.
