Salam

A friend of mine said he read in seerah book ( i fink by ibn kathir) that when the prophet (saw) was prevented from performing umrah he consulted abu bakr رضي الله عنه and said ' do you not think we should march onto makkah and kill them all for prevent the messenger of Allah from performing umrah'

Did this really happen? My friend also asked how would you reconcile this with not killing combantants. The story/hadith didnt say kill only those who prevented him..i will try get reference from him next time i see him. The only answer i could give was saying something and doing something are two very different things. I remember hearing in a bayan when hamza رضي الله عنه was killed the prophet said he will do same to 70 of them but Allah told him this is not correct.
