salaam

i recently got a mudd ( i think thats what its called) which they say is the same measurement of the amount of water rasoolullah (saw) used to make wudu. Alhamdulillah i been using it for about a week and after completing the wudu i still have a bit left over. however i wanted to know if i am doing it correctly.

first i dip my hand in and out of the pot each time i want to wash a part. is this allowed or am i supposed to spill the water onto my hand, reason i ask is i heard if used water drops into fresh water you can use it for wudu and seeing as my hand has water already from washing already its used

secondly can i take water in hand and rub what im going to wash? for exmaple i dip my hand in and then with the water i gatherd in my palm i rub my arm. how much of that water can be used to rub before that too becomes used water? after my 3rd dip alhamdulillah both arms get very wet and covered but i want to make sure im not doing it wrong

has anyelse used this or does wudu without taps? scary how much water gets wasted during wudu. would be nice if one day masjids tackle this issue of the modern day taps. i see people leaving them on and having chit chat whiilst during wudu and water goes to waste

Interesting, water needs to drop off from where you are washing, so just rubbing wet hands over will not suffice as far as I know.

Also, dipping in and out can pollute the water, so pouring is safer.

I've seen taps in masjid's where they go off automatically, but at the same time, if one is on the last part and the water turns off, they have no choice but to press the tap for more again, therefore wasting more water.

So far, the best option I've tried is using a water spray. Water remains clean, drops off and less water is used, less than what you'd even imagine.

Tried and tested on the advice of Mufti Shuaib Nugrat (apologies if incorrectly spelt) this was during Hajj a few years ago.

yh spray one is good for travelling and if u got someone to spill on to ur hands. ml shoaib has mentioned a few times to those who go hajj with him and in situations were water is scarce. as for the mudd how will u spill water to clean mouth nose and face? i can understand arms and feet.also how did sahabah and prophet (saw) do it? did they do full wudu with that amount or jus the fard. inshAllah i will try get someone like mufti abdur rahman to give a demonstration.

Assalaamu 'alaykum warahmatullah

At the end of the video the Shaykh demonstrates how women should make the masah of the head. I asked a Mufti sahib and he said this would not be so in Hanafi fiqh...he said the method shown in the video is according to Maliki fiqh.
