salam

this is something i been encouraging past few years. we are all aware of the saying charity begins at home. i think now more than ever muslims in the UK ought to take this on board. yes continue to donote to good causes worldwide and those who are suffering but do not neglect islam and muslims in the UK. there are plenty of poor and struggling families. we should priortise them as they are on our doorstep for this the best organisation i can think of is HHUGS who support families who have their bredwinners in prison ( mostly on trumped up terror charged) and have been shunned by the community ( so much for one ummah rubbish muslims go on about). also nawaal benevonent trust which i believe mufti abdur rahman is involved with, they give to poor and need muslims in and around east london.

as for general good causes i think groups like CAGE MPACUK and IERA too should be funded and any other which tackle islamaphobia and stand up the govt in defense of muslim rights. what do you guys think? we dont want to sleep walk ourselfs into a bad place by giving all our money to india pak bengladessh ( which is no longer 'back home') where we have no intentions of moving back to or perhaps never even been. i will be asking ulema to talk about this issue publicly. you be surprises amount of muslim families i met who are struggling to make ends meet or man of the house is in prison for silly charges and doing lenghty sentences

salaam

i understand where you are coming from. i have thought about this myself. but then i also think maybe its better to help those most in need who have absolutely nothing and no one to turn to.

im not saying to neglect them but there are many in UK who are in same boat. my mum has friends whos husbands are in prison on fake terror charges or whatever now doing long sentences and have no one to help. what im trying to say is we got people in UK who are toeing the poverty line too. also i really think we need to fund organisations which stand up and fight islamaphobia such as cage. infact most mosques have 1000s stashed away they should be supporting them. i say it openly the future of islam in UK depends on groups like more so than masjids and ulema. what good are mosques and ulema if they are silenced jailed or only allowed to say what shaykh maulana david camron wants them to say?
