FACTS:

Russian Plane was in Syrian airspace according to Turkish ministry but in a No-Fly zone set by Turkey

SU24 is an old Rust-Bucket and stands no chance against MANPADs or F16

russia has accused turkey of supporting daesh and stabbing them in the back. putin said there will be serious consequences. if and i must say a big if turkish is attacked by russia then i will see this as the beginning go ww3. it would be interesting how the apostate 'muslim' leaders react. i doubt saudi qatar uae or pakistan will defend their brothers. its not like they have ever done anything for islam and muslims so why will they start now.

Let's wait for the recovery of the black box, did they give 10 warnings in 10 minutes as claimed, did they enter the no fly zone before being shot down, were they on their way out and therefore landed inside Syria, did one of the pilots get caught, if so by who?

Let answers be revealed, then speculate :)

Even according to Turkish maps it was at the tip of Turkish airspace, when shot it crashed in Syria.

Do you really think it was shot by Turkey to protect its airspace?

i dont know anything about military hardware, but according to muadh bhai the jet that was taken down was a rust bucket - maybe russia were not too worried about losing it and used it to provoke turkey? maybe it is possible that russia were not worried about losing their jet and personnel and purposefully acted in a way to provoke and anticipate a hostile reaction from turkey in order to escalate some other agenda that they may have?

according to news reports the russian jet was only in turkish airspace for around 10 seconds. turkey are saying that the jet was repeatedly warned from entering into turkish airspace, but despite this the russians did not heed the warning and turkey was then forced to react. again i know nothing about military hardware and know even less about military manoeuvres, so for me this raises the question - is it normal to deploy a jet in such a short time frame or were turkey somehow anticipating this and thus were already waiting to react in this way even though the breach of their airspace was only for around 10 seconds? if that is the case then what are their motives to react in such a hostile way over something that is apparently so minor?

there are other questions and possibilities as well, but i would like comments and thoughts for about the above for now.

Airforce uses Assets based on threats. There are only two threats to a Jet:

Other Fighter Jets
Manpads

Syrian Airforce is not opposing Russia so there is no threat 1.

Rebels don't have any Manpads so there is no second threat.

No point in deployment of state of the art Technology so Russia is using old RustBuckets and dumb bombs with impunity because there is no threat. These are cheap old planes so they are using them.

That answers your first question.

The second question pertains to how quick can you respond?

These planes take off from Latakia which gives lots of time for Turkish Air force to get in the air and just monitor in their airspace. Flying time of an F16 is around 44 minutes (without refueling) so they just monitor the area.

Pakistan does the space with India. As soon as Radars detect an India Jet they go on Alert, They come within 50-60 miles and F16s take off. By the time they are in Pakistani airspace F16s are ready.

UK does the same, read all the Russian bombers who are coming close to London, Scotland etc. You monitor and when a certain threshold is crossed, Tornados take off.

These Russian Jets were bombing on the border, at over 1000 KM/Hr you can breach the border in a few seconds while you are turning...So you can go in and out of an airspace in seconds.

Turkish F16 must be tracking them, the minute they crossed the Border (10-17 seconds) SU24 stands no chance against an F16 with AMRAM!

F16 will eat them all day and spit them out.

Now Russians know about the threat so as of yesterday all sorties will be escorted by SU30SM...

SU30SM is locking Radar on the Americans and I am really glad that these Su24 (RustBuckets) were unescorted...

This is deliberate by Turkey, NATO and USA.

America stopped Rebels getting Manpads last year but CIA supplied TOWs to them so despite Russian Airforce Rebels have been making mincemeat out of Syrian Tanks!

This has just been escalated and Russia knows not to take airwar lightly, if CIA starts giving Manpads Russians planes will be flying out of the Syrian skies on a regular basis.

Does anyone remember Russia in Afghanistan? Stingers and game was up for Russia!

Guys get the max out of Colonel about military hardware.

I shall ask for the big thing. Tell us about the military muscles of all significant players in Syria.
Even we lay people can see for ourselves that sheer mass of arms is no surety of military success.
So we would like to know about those things that look effective at the moment.

Nato are helping the rebels get Assad out
ISIS are fighting the rebels (non-ISIS)
non-ISIS are fighting Assad and ISIS
Russia is fighting anti Assad fighters

In the end, innocent Law abiding, practising Muslims become the laughing stock.

It's a huge mess. There's no common ground. They are just playing games with each other.

Bombs will go off in soft spots and then they will have an excuse to attack and kill more people. This is the only way governments will pass legislation backed by public. Just like other attacks. They do an inside job because the people aren't listening. They give the people a wakeup call and job done. A few innocents killed, a bigger agenda is started.
