Update on California Moon Sighting:

I have had general chat with Dr Ashraf Dockrat about Moon Sighting who is based in South Africa. This has made me realise the position of Ulama on a number of things.


I have had general chat and some Fiqh clarifiction from Mufti abu Hajira (Canada). This has clarified the matter of Jamme-Ghafeer in the Hanafi Madhab in context to this situation.

I have had a detailed chat with Mufti Abdullah Nana (California) and I have understood his position in depth.

What is left now is discussion with Shaykh Fasih (California) because unfortunately I due to time differences keep missing him.

I have also discussed the issue with Mufti Yusuf Danke (UK).

After detailed discussions with Ulama in 4 countries, I have come to the conclusion that the perspective of many (including mine) on this matter and my initial assessment was incorrect and this story needs to be told from the point of Ulama in detail.

I intend to do so as soon as Shaykh Fasih & I have had a chat, InshaAllah.

Most people are telling this story without investigating and getting the details and background.

I have started from South Africa and ended in California (via Canada and UK), the reason was to understand the Academic training of Deobandi Scholars, their approach and attitude to Astronomical sciences.

InshaAllah, an analysis of this incident and a synopsis will be written up soon...
