British Moon Sighting: Cutting to the Chase

I sent a request to WifaqulUlama for an Interview on Moon Sighting. Maulana Shoaib Nurgat (HA) from London was assigned to answer my questions.

This Interview was conducted on the 8th of July 2015 at 14:15 on the Telephone.

jazakallahu khayran. your blog posts and threads on moonsighting are generally informative, but this one most of all. especially Maulana clearly listing the 5 reasons or so why Saudi moonsighting is unacceptable.

I feel like some important questions were missed:
1) If this is all so "abundantly clear" then why are many Muslims in the UK and the rest of the world insistent on following Saudi moonsighting?
2) How can their minds be changed? What efforts are being made to rectify this problem?
3) Wifaqul Ulama's writings suggest they cater solely to the Deobandi community because they constantly and only quote Indian and Pakistani Deobandi scholars. Why don't they make an effort to convince other communities of the obligation to properly sight the moon? (Crescent Commiteee of Canada is an example of a group of scholars from different groups united on this issue.)

Not related to us but just wanted to work out one thing I still don't understand and that is that The Saudi Ulama Categorically state that the moon sighting in Saudi Arabia cannot be used in UK for example, so why do the Salafi STILL follow news from Saudi sightings - Shouldn't they also be in tandem with Wifaq? Aren't the Salafi (including London Central Mosque, Regents Park) rejecting the Fatwa from Saudi supreme court?

Another issue is with the times of Salah. The Salafi follow Ummul Qura' for the moon, but not for Salah times (as in the calculation methods). It seems that the Salafi Masajid follow the hizbul ulama criteria, same goes for the Barelwi Masajid. They have the same principles as Wifaq for moon sighting, yet, for Salah timings, they have similar timings set by hizbul ulama.

These have been bugging me for a long time.
