Initial (and early) View:
The lessons learned from the BJP victory in India are validated in UK Elections.
Majority of the Non-Muslims place a very high priority on Jobs (and economy) i.e. gains of the Dunya above all. Niceties such as multiculturalism, heritage, social programs WILL ALWAYS take a back seat when people are enticed with economic prosperity. The “far-right” all over the world have discovered a sure-win formula of success which is to bang on about the economy (and jobs) to such an extent that every other message is drowned out.
Just like the Congress Party (in India) Labour Party (in UK) is wondering where to go next? It isn’t the defeat (parties lose in elections after all) but the setback to the ideology which is hurting this morning; Ed Milliband tried to take Politics to the left (going back to Labour’s roots) but he has been soundly REJECTED by British Voters, the huge gain by UKIP (electorally) shows the writing on the wall for Muslim in Britain; our days in this country are numbered!
As far as various sects and denominations are concerned here is a brief summary of where they stood in Elections.
- Deobandees (Majority): Didn't care
- Madkhalees: Didn't care
- Jamaat-e-Islam/Barelwee/Shia and Progressive: Tactical Voting
- Barelwees:
- Voting based on the Ethinicity/Caste/Origin
- During Councillor elections alliances with Tories, Labour or Lib-Dems i.e. ideological stance is irrelevant.
Many may blame the Muslim community that we weren’t united etc etc but the reality is that 4.8% of us wouldn’t have made much of a difference. Where we could we have made a RIGHT MESS!
Example in Bradford Naseem Shah (Labour) has defeated George Galloway by a massive margin. This vote is purely on the basis of ethnicity and creed because Naseem Shah is not only not entirely truthful but she doesn’t even have an ounce of credence or foresight compared to Galloway. The Deobandee Ulama & Mashaykh have either stayed completely silent or given false signals that we should vote for a “Muslim”; Barelwees have overwhelmingly supported Naseem Shah in her campaign; as a result British Muslims have lost a prominent voice for Palestinian rights in the International arena.
Labour played their cards very cleverly but pitting a “Pakistani-Forced-Married-Barelwee” in Bradford against Galloway. This is false Pakistani Nationalism for you!
How the Deobandees and Barelwees behave in this country is actually pretty Interesting! The Deobandees behave like Gujratees (in India) and Barelwees behave like (Village Pakistanees) just like back home.
