The respect Shaykh Murabit al Hajj passed away a couple of weeks ago, the following is a tribute by Shaykh Abu eesa Niamatullah.

Abu Eesa
19 July at 05:53 ·

Subhanallah, when the world loses a walee - a special friend of Allah - the sadness often masks the consequences which might only become clear later.

Shaykh al-‘Allamah al-Murabit al-Hajj Wald Fahfu - may Allah have mercy on him - passed to his Lord a few days ago as the great ascetic and Imam of Mauritania, over a hundred years old, the teacher of our teachers and from the greatest worshippers of our time. Wa inna lillah, wa inna ilayhi raji’un.

As Shaykh Muhammad b. Al-Hasan al-Dadu (hafidhahullah) stated, “His strength for ‘ibadah despite his age and ill health was something ‘ajeeb...his loss is the loss of the entire Ummah.”

I remember asking my teacher Shaykh Muhammad Saalim (rahimahullah) - who was also al-Dadu’s uncle - specifically about al-Murabit al-Hajj and his praise and love for the Shaykh was eye-opening. He really was the role-model of our senior scholars and worshippers. He was a legend even back then decades ago, let alone the stories related about him even now, and it really was as if the worship of the Salaf was being preserved in him, wa la nuzakki ‘alallahi ahad.

Here below is one of his hand-written testaments to his students and followers to always constantly be aware of the presence of Allah and then to perfect one’s discipline in life as a result. To be someone of taqwa is very rare to be frank, but from all accounts we have just lost one of those people wa Allahu’l-Musta’an.

May Allah give him Jannat’l-Firdaws, and keep alive his ‘ibadah amongst us in our own practice. Ameen.

Just read through this. SubhanAllah. May Allah Ta'ala allow us to meet such people again and again.
May Allah Ta'ala allow us to follow in their footsteps.
