(bism1)

(salaam)

I would like to post summaries from lectures but don't know if I should create separate threads for each one (as I've already started doing) or if I should have a running thread for them all. The lectures cover various topics but are connected in that they belong to the same shaykh and are about spiritual development.

Please advise.

JazakAllah khayran.

Wsalam,

If you have audio/video (halified even) links for the lecture then you can post it as separate threads in the multimedia section under "Lectures" and have the summary under it.

If it's other lectures without the source audio and it's random then a single thread.

If it's specific scholars (a handful of names) then a thread for each should be fine.

Generally, it's all about categorising threads and posts for ease of access to data for members so please choose whatever you feel suits best.

Insha'Allah, I will continue to post the way I have been - in the 'people's say' section randomly, with a new thread for each.

What I had in mind was (but no longer is):
  • Have sub-threads under a single thread in a specific section of the forum... or sub-threads within a sub-thread in a thread;
  • arrange them such that they automatically appear by subject (title) rather than date of last post, while still being able to view the thread under the 'recent posts' listing by date of last post; and
  • have it open so we can post replies or add to each.

What I was able to figure out by testing various things is that: ^ wouldn't work because this is a forum and not really a library where things are cataloged in such a manner. PLUS... and this I suppose is even more important - the Shaykh himself isn't here to comment on any replies that are left and it would be inappropriate for us to do so for him.

Instead, I've opted to keep post titles separate from the actual lecture I link to in the OP of each thread. That way, if there are other materials that relate to the thread title, rather than the specific lecture, they can be added insha'Allah.

Okay, sorry for the lengthy (and perhaps confusing) reply here but insha'Allah it makes some sense and will be beneficial for others too.

Please create a single topic with title as "Various lectures and lessons for ummah". This would consolidate everything in one place and easy for reading and future references.
