Questionnaire: Some people are accusing the creed (Aqeedah of Al-Azhar).What is your response to this?
Shaykh Yusuf Qaradawi (HA): The accuse the whole creed of Al-Azhar!? You mean they accuse the Ash'ari creed?
Al-Azhar is not the only one which follows the Ash'ari creed. The entire Muslim Ummah is Ash'ari.
Al-Azhar is Ash'ari, Zaytoona (Tunisia) is Ash'ari. Deoband (in India) is Ash'ari. Nadwatul-Ulama (India) is Ash'ari and the Islamic Schools of Pakistan are Ash'ari, the whole Islamic world is Ashari and the Salafees are a small minority. Even in Saudi Arabia, not everyone is Salafi. Some people of Hejaz, and the people of Najd and other areas aren't Salafees but the majority of the Ummah is Ash'ari.
