LONDON UNDERGROUND QUOTES UMAR IBN AL-KHATTAB (RA)

February 27, 2014

The London Underground staff periodically put up inspirational quotes from various personalities. Yesterday, they used a quote by Umar ibn Al-Khattab رضي الله عنه, the companion of the prophet (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and the second Khaliph of Islam.

“Patience is the healthiest ingredient of our life.” – Umar ibn Al Khattab رضي الله عنه

Wasalam

Never heard of it, however a lot of laws have come from the Muslims golden era, especially from the time of Umar bin Khattab رضي الله عنه such as taxes, child allowance, etc

I'm not familiar with such a thing, however, I have heard that in Ireland, they used to have some kind of benefit book where children would get money from the government and on this book it was mentioned about Umar رضي الله عنه, but I can't verify that.

On a side note, the pic mentioned in your op is a year old.

TFL has a diverse workforce so any member of staff could have written that. Doesn't necessarily mean anything.

That's very true. Thousands of Muslims work for the TFL. At the end of the day, it was great dawah even though it was only at one train station. Viewed and read by thousands on the day.

Quote:
3.5 million passenger journeys are made every day on London's 'Tube' and there were more than 1 billion journeys in total in 2010.

I think it is child benefit that people think is based on the teachings of Umar رضي الله عنه. He was concerned in his Khilafat about those children that could not eat due to the poverty of their parents.
