Mashallah a great thread. The hadith about parents owning the wealth of the children needs to be taken in context. In our indopak culture we almost have a communist type of system which is far from islam where the whole family's wealth in some cases goes to the father. This causes major inheritance issues and other problematic issues. I know of families where the son gives his total salary to his parents and the wife and children are neglected. I have even heard of childish excuses like the wife can keep the 'child benefit' as if that sufficies. Let me give you a good example;

Father takes all the money from the sons and keeps it in a saving account. If the father passes away everybody in a shariah sense is entitled to the money even the sisters who are married off. So the poor son who has been working all his life is left with nothing. I have seen such jahalat in my close family members where everything was under the 'father' or 'mother' and when this person is gone everybody is fighting with little regard for shariah.

Thus I had linked the excerpt image to my onedrive, which is appearing normally on my web browser. In case it is blurred please zoom in or long press or right click the image to download and view.
