EARNING HIGH RANK BY SERVING ONES MOTHER

Today’s Muslim thinks that he has to do long rosary and penitence and great effort and struggle and travel the world to get a high rank – but we see that great people in our past have attained a great rank by serving their mother.

Hear this emotional video clip of Moulana Tariq Jameel sahab db, with translation in English, discussing the incident of Hazrath Uwais Qarni ra and his service to his mother becoming a means of his great rank and position in the eyes of Allah swt and His messenger salallaho alayhi wa sallam and the means of his dua being accepted. Hazrath Uwais Qarni ra had earned such a high position due to his service of his mother that elite Companions ra such as Hazrath Umar ra requested him to make dua for them.

OBEDIENCE TO PARENTS AND WORLDLY SUCCESS

Surah Baqarah tells us of a murder among the Children of Israel. A man was in love with a woman and went to her father to propose marriage. The father refused him so in a rage he killed the father and went into hiding. The Children of Israel came to Nabi Musa as to help find the killer. Allah swt had told Nabi Musa as to tell them to slaughter a cow, any cow, and touch the body with its blood and put the tongue near the dead body and the dead man will speak and say who killed him. The Children of Israel took this as a joke and asked a bunch of bad questions to Nabi Musa as about the cow. Their questions only made the conditions of the cow more strict and they ended up having to find a yellow cow among other conditions. Where in the world would they find a yellow cow?

There was a pious young man who took well care of his parents, his father had passed away and he was now looking for a cow that his father had left behind. Since his father passed he was now in devoted service of his mother. This is taken from Alim.org:

Being pious and obedience to parents, serving and taking care of his parents became the means of the young boy to become very wealthy.

HOW TO HONOUR OLD AGE PARENTS

Children today often complain that their parents don't understand them, it is actually quite opposite, they don't understand their parents as the parents are ageing. How to deal with parents in their old age? See commentary of Maariful Quran comments on this:

THE FATHER IS THE MAIN GATE OF PARADISE

What is the greatness of ones father? People now days want to travel the world to seek paradise when the gate of paradise is right in their own home. In tafsir Maariful Quran, a great commentary of the Holy Quran, it comes:

Wake up Muslim! Your parents are the gates of paradise. Read here from tafsir of Maariful Quran:

WHAT IF PARENTS WERE UNJUST TO ME?

Some people have the crazy notion that they can treat their parents equivalent to how the parents treated them, what does Islam say about this?

PARENTS MENTIONED IN QURAN

These days we hear programs and workshops about many topics but seldom do we hear programs and lectures highlighting the greatness and virtue of parents, the rights of parents and warnings and punishments of disobeying and disrespecting the parents.

What is more shocking is that some modernists are now thinking to open Muslim nursing homes to dump their parents and rid themselves of their obligation towards the parents. What is even more saddening is that even “religious” people these days are seen using harsh language and attitude with their parents and openly disrespecting them – this is a true sign of the end of times.

Honoring parents is a teaching of the Holy Quran and among teaching of the Holy Prophet salallaho alayhi wa sallam. Honoring parents is a very great aspect of our deen and slowly it is deteriorating in our community. We must bring ourselves on obeying and being good to parents, respecting and honoring them, and also spread this great message of Islam to others. What does the Holy Quran say about parents?

WHEN CAN WE OPPOSE PARENTS?

Is there any instance when we can actually oppose the parents? Tafsir of Maariful Quran says:

The only instance when we can oppose the parents is when their orders clash with the orders of Allah swt and His messenger salallaho alayhi wa sallam.

Quote:
"And when we took a covenant from the children of Israeel, "worship none but Allâh and render good behaviour to parents and kinsmen and to orphans and the needy and speak good to all people and establish prayer and pay zakât." Then you turned away save a few of you and you are a people swerving. [Surah 2, Verse 83]

This verse points out that in ancient religions every Prophet's nation was ordered to abstain from polytheism (shirk) and to do good unto parents, relatives, orphans and the indigent.

At whichever juncture the Qurân orders good behaviour unto parents, Allâh Ta'âla has laid it adjacent to those injunctions dealing with worshipping Him. From this we deduce the importance of this heavenly guidance. Following the Ibâdat of Allâh and obedience to His commandments, rendering good behaviour to parents is also Fardh (compulsory).

Good behaviour includes obedience as well. i.e. the children should bear in mind obedience to their parents in every aspect of their social (and domestic) life.

However, they should not accede to their commands or anybody elses, if they are in conflict with the ordinances of Allâh Ta'âla and His Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam.

In others words, the Almighty Allâh states "Be obedient to me and render good behaviour unto your parents and obey them as well." For a servant or human being, the essence of Allâh Ta'âla is that of an absolute and omnipotent creator.

He indicates the solution to virtually every step of our social life and guidance lies in good conduct to parents, obedience to them and refraining from disobeying them. Obedience to Allâh Ta'âla is, in essence, subservience to Quranic injunctions. Since Allâh Ta'âla has ordained good conduct to parents immediately after He decreed obedience unto Him, shows that he ordained obedience unto them as well. Hence, every son or daughter is constrained to act accordingly, or else obedience to Allâh Ta'âla will not be complete. As categorically stated that shirk (polytheism) is an unpardonable sin, similarly, disobedience to parents will be considered an unforgivable sin.
