I agree with brother Jinn. We shouldn't cause fitna, but thank Allah he's given us the presence of mind to be aware of such narrations and to take em' with a pinch of salt, and do du'as Allah grants the same level of awareness.

Brothers, one request: Let's please keep weak narrations out of the discussion, as it is a totally different matter on hand. Keep the discussion restricted to the use of fabricated (mawdhu') narrations. Dealing with dhaeef (no matter how weak) and mawdhu' exactly the same way (like many of our contemporaries do) is totally wrong.

Also on a side note: Enough has been written in defense of "Fazail-e-Amaal" and despite knowing about the weaknesses (or to some fabrications) and Shaykh al-Hadith's deep understanding of Hadith sciences he did see no reason to take them out. On which basis Hadith decided not to do so, can also be read on br. Muadh's website Central-Mosque.com.

So, we all know it (your favorite/linked/revered Shaykh quoting fabrication) happens, but how do you react and not lose your 'aqeedat when it happens?

To be fair there also exist exceptions, for example Shaykh al-Hadith Mufti Radhaul Haq sahab (hafizahullah) even in his weekly Islahi Majlis (outside of dars and open to public) whenever he quotes a Hadith and there's kalam on it he mentions it and also the reason why he still intends to mention the Hadith. He does that without any preparation, as his whole talk will be based on the short talks given by usually two or three associated scholars before him and the topics they spoke on. A simply brilliant, divinely gifted scholar.

Assalamu alaykum

We have scholars who give talks in both general forum like Juma'a, ijtemas etc and Islahi Dars majalis. Their approach is different depending upon the majlis. When it is in Dars their talk is like Mufti Radaul Haq Sahib D.B, as you have quoted in your post.

Salam u alaikum,

If the shaykh is non-alim, then a good way is to let one of his senior mureed or khulafa who is an alim know about the narration, and let him to know to inform the hazrat regarding this. The non-alim mashaykh are humble in this sense as they know their grasp of narrations and their grading can often be weak, as they do recognize many times they read a narration in a book and can quote it, in all sincerity because the subject regardless is the truth. So they wouldn't feel offended .

As per a aalim shaykh making this mistake, again he would not mind, if another aalim mentions or brings light to this matter. They will infact make an announcement about it and recognize the error.

Generally , shaykh are humble in this. This error does not take away their piety, their ikhlas, their love for sunnah and their zeal for the deen of Allah.

All being said with husn-e-dhan about these mashaikh. Anything other or negative from them in regards to this matter from them, would also be a means or signal to know more about the reality of this shaykh.

A related portion from a letter of Imam Rabbani Mujaddid Alf Thani رحمه الله:
Quote:
If the Murid harbours even the slightest objection against his Shaykh, he will be deprived of benefitting from him. If the Murid has an objection about his Shaykh and it does not get resolved on its own, he shoud enquire about the matter from his Shaykh, in a way that does not hint to objecting to the Shaykh or condemning that word or deed.

If it ever occurs to the Murid that a particular word or deed of the Shaykh is in conflict with the Shari'ah, then the Murid should not follow the Shaykh in that matter. However, to the best of ability, he should maintain good thoughts about the Shaykh and await a correct interpretation for that matter. If he does not arrive at such an interpretation, he should sincerely supplicate to Allah ta'ala to release him from the test that he finds himself in and he should supplicate for the well-being of the Shaykh.

If the Murid senses an objection about the Shaykh when he is doing something permissible, then he should discard such misgivings, because if the matter is permissible, why should he have reservations towards the Shaykh.
