Asalamualaikum,

My mother started mentioning how it's disrespectful to walk ahead of your parents/elders and it's fitting to let them exit first. She said this a matter of adhab and this is what Islam teaches us, no doubt.

I believe she mentioned this is in a Hadith. I was wondering if someone knows of it?

She is just advising you to listen to your mother if she is chastising you on your walk/talk.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) saw two men and said to one of them, "Who is this man in relation to you?" "He is my father," he replied. He said, "Do not call him by his own name nor walk in front of him nor sit down before him." (Al-Adab al-Mufrad)

No i wasnt. You should have written walk instead of talk.

And yes always listen to your mother.. mom of an imam but still the mom.

Have no idea what you're on about, but, yes, I'm aware of the respect Allah commands to give to one's parents.
