Ali was willing to suffer the consequences. But he did not actually serve any prison time. He was sentenced to 5 years in 1967 for refusing to be drafted into the army. His lawyers immediately appealed the sentence which kept him out of Prison. His appeal went all the way to the Supreme Court. And in 1971, he was exonerated by a unanimous verdict.

He was stripped of his world championship and banned from boxing. He did not box for over three years and lost the prime years of his career.

Don’t know what to make of this World Cup I hope the Arabs will realise that no matter what they do the Westerners will never accept them. Not only have they wasted Billions on this World Cup, they have apparently spent $40 Billion propping about the British economy. Been spat in the face in return.
