Add "intention of breaking fast" to the discussion. By the way, would that include the intention of eating only or of committing any of the breakers?

Bismillahi Ta'ala

1. Intention as he mentioned. Not having any intention at all. If someone crosses over dahwa tul kubra of the day while he has no conviction of intent for fasting, then the fast is not valid. Intention must be there in the heart for the fast to be valid.

2. The Kaffarah should be left saying only "Kaffarah" and then put a footnote from there and mention 60 consecutive fasts, and if unable then feed 60 poor people etc.

3. Specify which "inhaler" you are talking about.
a. An asthema inhaler breaks fast if done intentionally. and qadha is wajib.
i. if due to medical need, then only qadha wajib.
ii. if done without medical need, then qadha and kaffarah wajib.
b. A nose inhaler :
i. if medication goes down throat, then breaks fast, only qadha no kaffarah.
ii. if medication does not go down throat, does not break fast, but makes it makruh.

I dont know how you would put that on chart, but the mas'alah is that. A person may only be making his fast makruh and thinking he broke it. Similarly using asthama pump without need intentionally requires kaffarah..

The rest seems good Alhamdulillah.

Mufti sahab,

I was rather referring to a scenario similair to the following one illustrated here (for example):

Quote:
Even if a person only has the intention that he/she will break his fast is reason enough for his fast to be invalidated. If one thinks that it is too hard and he wants to go get a hamburger and sits in the car and then he changes his mind and says "AstaghfirAllah!!" then it is too late and he/she has already broken the fast and has to make it up. And there is a trivial difference of opinion regarding whether intention is a pillar or condition of fasting. The Hanafees and Hanbalees are of the view that the intention is a condition of the fast being valid. The Maalikees and Shaafa'ees were of the view that it is a pillar in addition to abstinence. Either way in this case if the intention is lost the thing itself is lost, when you lose the pillar or the condition is still not there then the thing itself is not there or incomplete.

Maybe you can shed some light.

Are you sure about fast breaking by deliberately inhaling Perfume (which most of the time has no perceptible body) ? I have this fatwa in mind, tell me if I misunderstood the mas'ala : islamqa.org/hanafi/daruliftaa/7793

The text only suggests that the person did not have "jazm" (conviction) in his intent. Hence the intention was not valid.

This is what I meant that a firm intention to fast has to be found for the fast to be valid.

However, once a person has fasted, then mere doubt in one's heart will not render the fast invalid.

1. To forgetfully (unintentionally) eat or drink. --- fast not broken
2. To forgetfully eat, and then think that fast is broken, so you eat more. - fast broken

Yes, that is a correct catch. Needs to be fixed.

Difference between perfume and vapour

Fumes : do not break the fast
Vapour : follows all the ruling mentioned by Mufti Ibn Adam.

I'm understanding the described scenario a little different, but your answer seems correct nonetheless.

1. Since the beginning of suhur one has second thoughts whether or not to
fast [due to feeling unwell] i.e. has no firm niyyah. I know in such a case one has the chance to make niyyah before the midday if do nothing that could invalidate the fast.
But finally one decides not to fast nearly two hours before the midday. I want to confirm there'd be no kaffarah, but only Qadha, right?

2. My father eats suhur till the end of fajr adhan. My friend's family do the same. They're not convinced that their fast would be invalidated as they believe such a ruling also exist.
Is there any chance theirs fasts could be accepted as they're doing this out of ignorance? I've been told that one's ignorance might be the excuse of ones forgiveness. Is that really so?
