From what I recall hearing in lectures is that this statement was the answer to the question asked to the Prophet (saw) as to where he would rather be, and he replied and that's what has been narrated in the Hadith.

The question as far as I understood it was asked by the angel of death. And the Prophet thus replied:

Quote:
"O Allaah! (with) the highest companions."

Jazakumulah kher my brothers for all the replies

This is an interesting topic indeed and Masha'Ala brother dr76 just shared an amazing gem with us, a seerah of 13 volumes, either we need to get it translated or we need to learn Urdu.

In regards to whether such a final convo exists between Rasoolalah (saw) and Gibreel then Walahu'Alam, I will have to meet/email some ulema and see what they have to say. I have emailed some ulema in regards to other stuff and for that I'm still waiting for a reply, maybe due to Ramadan they are a bit slow in replying.

جزاك الله خيرا

I guess it's important to teach oneself Urdu as well due to the vast literature that's available out there in Urdu.

Will add Urdu to my list as well, even though past few months I have been trying to learn Arabic. I believe Arabic is the key that unlocks the ocean of knowledge etc.

I've got this Urdu learning book at home :

On a serious note ask the brothers at HCY. When it comes to find a particular narration (especially Arabic) and confirming whether it's authentic or not they're masters.

I have half of it but I can't seem to find the rest ! "...and know that sharaf (honour and nobility) of the believer lies in his qiyamul layl (standing in the night in prayer), and his 'izzah (dignified greatness) lies in being needless (and independent) from the people."
