Sources - how can one tell good from dodgy?

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

Assalaamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu

What would you do if you came to realize that a source you have accepted as reliable actually has articles and books from sources you'd rather steer clear from?

What if you informed the source & they neither replied nor removed the itms.

Would you, could you, should you ignore it all and carry on using the source?

As someone lacking proper knowledge, should you get involved or should you then bring it to someone else's attention? If so, who?

These and related questions play on my mind and I don't think I am alone. Input and guidance wpuld be appreciated.

Sister, if you see somethng strange. Ask from another very reliable source. Show them what you read overthere. ( ask from a mufti from whom u generally ask your questions)
then see what they replied. If they say that the source answer is wrong. Then mail source with proof ( not the mufti fatwa u asked.. ) then if they give proof then mail the mufti that. look what he says. Do that.

JazakAllah khayran sister, I appreciate your reply. In the meantime (while waiting for a fatwa), would you continue utilizing the site or would you stay away?

BTW I don't have a regular mufti and, apart from SF, I don't think I ever asked a mufti for fatawa... I would be reluctant to unless I absolutely need to.

There is plenty of non sense out there, so its not possible to tell everyone and anyone. But if it is a source widely used and accepted, it would be beter to firstly clarify the authenticity (as there is so little that we know and it just might be Sahih) with the learned and once you have confirmation, it would be advisable to make contact with the clarification.

Similar things happen on the blogs, people make comments and ask for daleel etc, I respond where I can and if there is a doubt of dodgyness, the least I can do is add a disclaimer. In other words, people do take action and will react InshaAllah.

However, if the person is deluded, then at least you tried and you will rewarded for your intention.

JazakAllah khayran. An example of dodgy for me (and I'm afraid I can't accept something so explicitly foul as being good) is anything and everything by Adnan Oktar (aka Harun Yahya).

I don't wish to discuss the dude and his equally dodgy "good works". I'd rather avoid everything related.

The question remains: would you continue to link to other (good) articles located on the same site? I don't like the idea of exposing anyone to his stuff.
