'Akaabir' : you come across as a fool mate, please don't open your mouth about Tasawwuf, Deoband etc because you put people off severely Wallah and end up painting a whole different picture in their minds.
Other than that thread started of well and would have been a good informative debate, but later it just got silly when some brothers decided to make some personal remarks and use narrowing tactics. Silly and childish behaviour. I think I'll just sit back and enjoy my ice cream instead.
We deny any truth by 3 ways:
a: mentally
b: physically
c: verbally
Are your denying a and b?
If not, then- who's your shaykh?
If yes, then your denying.
Who're those good ulama that are better than Sahab ikram رضي الله عنه in this issue?
Don't you grasp ''wa yudhakkeehim''?
In exceptional cases Allah سبحانه وتعالى purifies the souls of some people. But these pious people are quite different from rest of the ulama and even those people who've got purified their souls under any shaykh. These people stay away from this world and most of us don't know of them. They're known to other pious people only. Their lives remain in secret.
What ,in the end ,are we getting out of this thread ?
1)Tazkia is an important 'part' of Din.
2) If Tazkia could be done without Suhba,Allah swt would have send a book without a prophet.
3) It is theoretically possible, remotely possible though, that one can become a doctor or a lawyer or engineer without a teacher...but practically it does not happen.
4) Someone is needed to train you in the academic and practical aspects of Din...that someone could be an institution or a person/one,s parents/one,s teachers...a single person or a group provided one remains in their Suhba with the intention to learn, for a reasonable period of time.
5) It is better to get training from 'one person'...as multiple different persons might have different attitudes, though ALL may be correct.Different opinions can only serve to confuse the student, unless he/she is exceptionally talented, which is rare.
6) Irrespective of whether the trainer is a person or a group, one needs to make sure the trainer is himself sufficiently trained to teach others, should preferably have a certificate of training from a teacher, who likewise is certified. This is called SILSILA in layman,s terminology....and the certificate is called KHILAFAT.
7) BAYAT as is pointed out on this thread is 'only' mustahab. It is a promise by the trainer that he will train the student to the best of his abilities...and by the student, that he will follow all the 'lawful' instructions of the teacher. What is important is the spirit of this promise, not the gesture itself.
8) The teacher is a human being like his student, the only difference being that he is well trained while the student is still under training.Being well trained does not mean that the teacher will 'never' commit a mistake....on the contrary he may commit even a blunder, but he will hopefully realise it sooner than later and make necessary corrective measures including 'tauba' .
9) To love one,s own parents more than other parents is natural....similarly to love one,s own mother institution is natural. It is also natural to stand for their honour....but bias and prejudice should be discouraged as much as is humanly possible.
10) The love of one,s Shaikh is a continuation of the love of Allah swt and his prophet sallallaho alaihe wa sallam. In reality, every gesture of love and respect shown by a true 'Mo'men' is a reflection of divine love.We love Ahle bait because they are the progeny of the Prophet,we love Sahaba because they remained in Suhba of the prophet,we love Arabic language because that is the language of Quran and the Prophet,we love Madina Munawwara because the prophet lived there and is still in the blessed city,we love every scholar of Hadeeth because he learned the words of our prophet.....similarly we love a Shaikh because he teaches us 'the ways of the prophet'
AND IN THE END : Tasawwuf is not necessary, what is necessary is to gain Tazkia and to attain taqwa.Tasawwuf is one 'time tested' method...but there might be other methods as good,or even better than, tasawwuf.Every one who cares for his AKHERA should try and find a way for himself.Mujahida is demanded by Allah swt and he has promised to show سبلنا ('MANY' ways leading towards Allah swt ) to those who show sincerity, not JUST ONE WAY.Even Sufi,s realise this as is quoted الطرق الى الله بعدد أنفاس الخلائق (The ways towards Allah swt are as many as are the breaths of individuals).
A doctor is NOT allowed to use any method of 'Tareeqa' as you've mentioned
A shaykh is NOT a doctor of the soul
It is NOT obligatory to get our soul purified like you'd get your car cleaned by a worker or car wash. Please listen to the Tafseer or the verse as this isn't the complete meaning of the verse. Please also learn about what involves purification of the soul. Why do you feel this blessing is limited at the miraculous hands of the "shaykhs"??
The entry into Jannah is NOT limited to what you're saying
It's NOT Sunnah according to what you're saying
There's a reason these topics are banned on here because half baked understandings result in half baked posts about subject which one does not understand and exaggerate in its importance and ruling.
