Yes they exist. The problem is, if we start naming them, then they will become the subject of your judgeship. Thereafter, we are left no choice except to take you as the ultimate Shaykh - since you are able to both establish the criteria and judge the candidate against your own criteria.

Your post has really hurt me, and that is the honest truth. I wish there was a suitable platform to explain to you, but first you have to come seeking with sincerity.

Hazrat,

Here to learn from you but start from the premise that the concept of love, respect, reverence towards Akabir is absolutely agreed and understood.

This is a matter upon which we agree.

There is no doubt that parents have more rights than a Shaikh,it is also understood that Shaikh, any Shaikh,is not 'masoom' ( ie free from error)...but I would be very surprised if any mureed has this aqeeda in 'real life situations'.We are dealing with 'perceptions' here, based more on the personnel experiences of some individuals,(which has got limited value)...and a very useful institution of tasawwuf has been targeted on the basis of 'self perceived ideas'.

Any one who has doubts about the 'limitations' of the relations between a Shaikh and mureed should read a few pages of "QASD US SABEEL" by Ml Ashraf Ali Thanvi ra (It is a short book any way).

The topic under discussion is different though....

These things relating to true Sufi,s need to be pointed out, because we see 'Shaikh bashing' on regular basis on this forum...thanks to some permanent members. It is very apparent that 'tasawwuf' and 'Mashaikh' are their 'prime target'...and they seem to enjoy it.

I take it you're an adult and a grown one, so there is nothing to be hurt over it.

Criteria my brother is the Quran and Sunnah, adherence to it and the life of the Sahaba رضي الله عنه that's all. Unfortunately we don't see that today from the apparent, what's in the hearts only Allah knows

No need to make petty comments like ' therefore we have no choice but to take you as the ultimate Shaikh', or 'you first have to come with sincerity', is this a joke or something ? Sorry akhii I believe in taking benefit from every fountain in Deen, but I also believe in being wary and cautious rather than shutting ones eyes completely and following someone blindly, if your idea of sincerity is Hazrat worship then sorry that's not my thing and may Allah make it never my thing.

Please remember me in your duas

FACT: Hazrat worship has lead to many people incorrectly fasting. Facts have been brought forward with ample evidence yet, "No, my shaykh cant be wrong" khair, these people will not be sinful inshaAllah but this is just ONE example!

Provided that the shaikh is not a mufti or alim equipped with adequate shar'i dalaail, if after going through the facts they still choose to follow their shaikh then sadly they fall under the clear pretext of this ayat,

Ittakhazoo ahbaarahum wa ruhbanahum arbaabam min dooni Allah

They took their priests (shaikhs) as gods besides Allah.

Jazakallah my brother.

I'm saying that there are many Mashayikh that pass your criteria and go beyond, but you are either choosing to ignore them, or you are focusing on the bad examples, and making very strong general statements, which are hurtful to the Deen of Allah.

What I meant by you coming with sincerity is that you should seek a Shaykh with due diligence, instead of making sensationalist statements like "name me just one Shaykh like this ... " as if you have exhausted every means at your disposal to seek a pious Shaykh.

If you disagree that such pious people exist (as you yourself have described them), then you have effectively decided that it is impossible to do 'Amal on ayah of Qur'an "keep the company of the Saadiqeen".

1. I agree with you that the shaykh is loved due to Islam.
2. Agree with you. We can only cry at our own weakness. Pray for me that I become brave as well.
3. Agree with you as minorities our situation is even more difficult
4. Agree with you that a shaykh is more than a postman. He is our connection with the Rasul sallahualahiwasalam and in turn ALLAH SWT. Respect in an absolutele must.

The issue I have is let us take this forum for example. We have mufti A S Desai fans and maulana tariq jamil saab fans. Both are completely blind to the mistakes of their respective shaykhs. Both will get extremely angry and intolerent if one questions these 2 respected shaykhs but when Islam and Muslims are attacked we don't see the same response? You have mentioned some possible explanations above which I agree with. I guess it just illustrates our weakness.

pray for me please I am the weakest of all.

Why does he need to seek a "Shaykh"? If he consults with Ulama and Fuqaha and makes Mushwara that is sufficient for his Islah, is it not? Please categorically state the evidence for a "Shaykh" when the requirements are being fulfilled by other Ulama.

I pray 5 times a day in Jamaat, I serve the Ulama, I attend the talks and I consult Ulama on my Mas'ail why do I need a "Shaykh"?

please do not bring such issues into the main as there are big ulema on both sides. These are issues of ijtihaad for which we hope the layman will not be held accountable. This is not linked with shaykh worship but the issue of taqleed.

if you believe this is sufficient then fine but this is not in line with the vast majority of akabireen who had shaykhs above them. It would be hard pressed to find any deobandi akabir who did not have a pir. I know you are a big fan of syed ahmed shaheed, shah ismail, mujadid alf thani, hazrat shah waliullah rh, hazrat shah abdul aziz, hazrat thanvi rh. Simple yes or no did each one of them not have a shaykh?

2nd time asking the same question. What is "Big Ulama"? You say Tassawuff Mashaykh are the BIGGEST. Shaykh (Mufti) A.S. Desai (HA)'s mureeds say that he has Darajaat of Taqwa which few could reach etc.

so who are "Big Ulama"??? What is the criteria?

Your "Big Ulamah" are Pro-Tassawuff and Pro-Tareeqa while Shaykh (Mufti) A.S. Desai (HA) has reservations about today's Tassawuff so "Big Ulama" are clashing themselves before it gets to laymen.

All Non-Deobandees are obviously out of the picture.
