Cadbury given all clear by Malaysia Islamic body

Firm had recalled chocolate products after health ministry said it found porcine DNA in products earlier this month

Malaysia's Islamic body has cleared Cadbury chocolates of containing pig DNA, easing outrage among Muslim groups who had called for a boycott of all Cadbury products.

The health ministry said earlier this month that porcine DNA had been found in two varieties of Cadbury chocolates, prompting the company to recall the products.

The Malaysian Islamic development department said on Monday that new tests on 11 samples taken from the factory showed no trace of pork in the two products, Cadbury's Dairy Milk Hazelnut and Dairy Milk Roast Almond bars.

Islamic officials said the earlier samples could have been contaminated as they didn't come direct from the factory.

The controversy sparked a furore among Muslim groups, who accused the British confectionary company of trying to "weaken" Muslims in Malaysia.

By "moaning," you mean declaring Jihaad, right?

Where on earth did you get 'Jihaad' from ?

No that's not what I mean by moaning, but what I mean is the Malaysian authorities first caused a big hoo haa about pork dna being found in the chocolate and now are saying those samples weren't from the factory and they've tested 11 chocolates from the factory which were all clear.

It's really strange. There are inconsistencies in their reports:

1. Firstly samples were collected from market, but later they collected from factory.

2. How can chocolates be contaminated by pork unintentionally?

3. Where are chocolates supposed to come from except factories?
