Alhamdulillah, I agree. Masha'Allah, good way to approach the issue to avoid obsessing.

Alhamdulillah, it is simple for us: always give praise. Even if others don't or they neglect to say 'masha'Allah', inshaAllah we can easily and quickly make it a habit to say 'alhamdulillah' for everything.

Akhi, what I'm trying to understand is how the harming can happen?

1) Is it because the one who feels jealousy or envy in his heart for another who has openly professed he owns a bunch of sports cars in his garage and makes a bomb for a living and then later the same person turns on his footstep with a sledge hammer? Allah forbid of course. :P

2) Or is it some dark force with an eye in the middle descends upon that person and casts some mystcal curse upon them?

It is because we forget who the giver is - Allah Ta'aala.

If we feel entitled to something rather than someone else, or we are proud of what we have - in essence, we are either attributing it to ourselves (rather than Allah Ta'aala) or we are questioning His decision.
