Assalamualaikum brothers and sisters. I was listening to one of maulana zulfikar ahmed naqshbandis lecture "sins and its effects" noted down a few things which I felt is soooo true and have noted it down which I would like to share here.
Here the maulana talks abt the stages of sins and says the first sin ever committed in the universe was by shaitaan.
1. He refused to obey Allah when he was asked to prostrate before Adam a.s.
2. Instead of apologising his refusal and seeking forgiveness from ALlah He justified his actions by saying I am better than him.I am made of fire and he of clay. This mistake was bigger than the first.
3. When allah declared him mardood considered himself deprived of allahs mercy. This mistake was bigger than the second one.
Now maulana says we too have one , two or all the tgree qualities.
1. We commit sins.
2. If we understand our sins and ask forgiveness alhamdulillah he is all forgiving.but we mostly justify our actions thinking we are right.
3. Sometimes due to excess of sins we consider ourselves deprived of allahs rehmat/ mercy. We assume our sins are too much for allah subhanahu wa taala to forgive.
Here maulana further talks on imam ghazalis quote that example of sins is like that of a scorpion. If a scorpion is small and we are asked to touch just bcos of its small size no one will dare touch. just the way size of the scorpion doesnt matter to cause us harm , in the same manner size of the sins (small / big) doesnt matter to cause us harm.
May allah protect us frm sins and if done make us amongst ppl who seek allahs forgiveness and not consider ourselves deprived of his mercy. He is the most merciful and the most compassionate. Ya allah our sins are sooo much that even 7 skies and 7 earth and the space in between is small to accomodate them but ya allah ur mercy is much more than that. Please forgive our sins small big intentional unintentional and keep us under ur mercy. Ameen ya rabbul alameen.
