The angels used to speak to Umar رضي الله عنه and this was outside Badr and Uhud and outside whilst they came to meet the Prophet (saw)

The Prophet (saw) even called Umar a 'muhaddith' of this Ummah.

The details of these events can be found in Hayatus Sahaaba

Anyway these incidents don't add or take away anything from hadrat shaykhs remarkable feats, the ulama testify to his status and we all are drinking from steams he left behind and will continue to inshallah

We have too many haters and doubters of him in today's age unfortunately, which is a pity so a thread will serve nicely. Not sure if it was done previously on SF though.

Asalamualaikum.

I thought, I'd post this for those who might interested. My personal views on this has not changed, though.

From HadithAnswers:

1. The people who are quoted in the article are reliable, companions of Hazrat Shaykh Zakariyya (rahimahullah).

Source can be found in post 6 in this thread.

2. According this report, the angel of death was seen in the form of a human.

3. Allah Ta'ala makes this possible (seeing angels) for people from time to time. Hafiz Ibn kathir (rahimahullah) has mentioned an incident of a non Sahabi also encountering an angel.

(Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Surah Naml, Ayah: 62)

Therefore, if reliable people report this, it would be accepted. Denying such reports isn't logical.

4. There is no difference in which angel was seen. In fact, Jibril ('alaihis salam) is the greatest angel, and if he was visible to certain Sahabah, what's the reason for surprise in other angels being visible to other people?

5. Lastly, I haven't found any mention in that link of what you quoted:

'Apparently they had a conversation, and he wasn't ready to go quite yet.'

In fact, there is mention of Hazrat Shaykh (rahimahullah) asking as to when will he be taken...
