I was doing Ausoosi gasht (if I pronounced that right) and he told me he met the angel of death, but they were having a conversation whilst he was ill and Sheikh ul Hadeeth Zakariaya (RA) said take me now, but apparently he refused as Allah wanted him to continue the good work he's doing.

I didn't comment on whether I believe it or not as I did want to offend the brother, but considering the Sahabas (RA) never saw the angels except in human form at Badr and Uhud, I thought it wouldn't be possible for Muslims generations later? I know some met Jibreel (AS) in human form as he came to visit the Prophet (SAW).

He (RA) didn't and don't believe every story you hear. When I was a young boy, I have heard stories Shaykh (Maulana) Zakariyya (RA) speaking Arabic to the Syrian Ambassador and him not understanding Arabic so he asked for the discussion to be translated into English. Shaykh (Mufti) Taqi Usmani (HA) started translating into English but said something wrong so Shaykh (Maulana) Zakariyya (RA) corrected his English.

:P

Then in the same trip when he went to Multan and family of Ameer of Multan cooked food so Shaykh (Maulana) Zakariyya (RA) asked the women folks to get behind the door and spoke to them in fluent Saraiki (one of the hardest languages of Indo-Pak)!

:P

In my time he had passed away a few years ago so the stories were even more exaggerated.

A person once decided to tell us about the precision of Hazrat (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi Saheb (HA) about prayer times and he said that Hazrat calculated all prayers times based on sundial (Dhoop-Ghathi) with exact precision.

I asked "How did he calculate Esha and (start of) Fajar using sun dial when there is no sun at this time?" The person then decided to make stuff about sundial and how they even work at night...

He had been narrating these virtues of Hazrat (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi Saheb (HA) without ever stopping to think!

This person had never seen a sundial in his life nor had any idea how it worked but he had heard some story and he decided to add to the "Fazail" of Hazrat (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi Saheb (HA)

Regarding such stories, one needs:

Sound mind with unbiased thinking.

So, it's documented, but I guess it's the choice of the reading to decide whether he believes it or not.

Jazak'Allah brothers.

What is so difficult to believe? How about shaykh ibn taymiyah rh looking at the preserved tablet...lawhe mahfooz??? Or ibn taymiyah rh narrating about saeed ibn musayib that he would hear the azaan directly from raudhe athar sharif

I think conversing with an real live angel is on an entirely different level. There is no harm if we agree or disagree.

Why should it be an issue? As long as the reports have some basis to it? Looking at the lauhe mahfooz is no oridinary feat. If one can have a look at it one can tell a lot about events to come and those that have passed.

Unfortunately this has become a norm, if my limited prone to faults mind finds something which my ever changing brain can't understand then it becomes a fairytale, my friends in that case islamic ilm is full of it!

But there are too many fabricated stories amongst desis, so one cannot be too careful.

P.s. Not talking about the current story.

Akhi, the main reason why I posted this thread was to clarify if there were any sources to this story.

When shared with my seniors (scholars), let's say they had a different opinion. It's a personal choice and preference and in no way undermines Sheikh ul Hadeeth Zakariya's (RA) status.

Allah knows best.
