To me it seems that everyone thinks of their respected silsilah to be superior and their shaykh to be at the top of all shaykhs and unfortunately at times usually infallible.

However mostly it just seems that the mureeds of today are just enjoying/discussing the glory of the past, where as there is no glory of today.

Just an observation.

so shaykh jinn what do you suggest? Should we abandon all shaykhs of today and should we continue bad mouthing them all so people become wary of even the good ones? We need to think of a solution no?

No, but we should apply the same principles which we use to Judge Barelwees/Salafees/Ahl-e-Hadeeth to our own Shaykh?

Fair or UnFair?

Islamic or UnIslamic?

There are Sufees who have blogs or forum posts where they highlight issues wth Al-Albani (RA), Tahirul-Qadri (RA) etc so why do they get enraged if their own Shaykh is discussed?

Fair or UnFair?

Islamic or UnIslamic?

I think you've misconstrued my post completely shaykh London

What I stated was a mere observation akhii that's all, it's like people who don't have Shaykhs they argue on folding hands and other fiqhi issues etc, the ones with Shaykhs they argue a bit too much on theory and history of Sufism and on their books of what shayks in the past said, did, encountered. It's like the indo-pak issues I've seen is their usually arguing about Deobandi and Brelvi, however this is restricted to desis. Go see Shayks in the Arab world such as Yemen etc and this phenomena is less or not even heard of. Total different concept.

Point is too much emphasis on theory today and less emphasis on application. It's all over the Muslim world today we've become dreamers rather than doers and achievers. Otherwise we wouldn't be sitting around and talking about superiority and going on about it forever.

My apologies if I've offended you.

The 4 Madhabs have NOTHING to do with Tareeqas at all. 4 Madhabs are from Salaf and Agreed upon in Islam. It is careless and Academically dishonest to compare the two and even the "earliest" Mashaykh of Tassawuff don't compare the two.

At best Tareeqas are Mubah (permissible) not even Sunnah as agreed by "earliest" Mashaykh of Tassawuff.

Tassawuff is NOT Tareeqaas.

Agreed....so bro what do you suggest we do going foreword. Imagine I am in the UK now...young person in his 20s..not married. What should this person do. I would suggest something as follows;

I have heard all the stuff not to do so now give me a solution please. I know not to use pink toilet paper, not to consider my shaykh infalliable. There are a lot of things not to do...but what should a person do? Also don't you think that instead of going on and on about this hazratism or whatever else we should do something positive. Did not imam sharani rh said speak of good so good spreads (same kind of statement was attributed to one of the great dehlawi hazrat (tablighi elder).

so muadh if tariqas carry zilch importance why did virtually every single imam of recent times take bait in tareeqa and do azkaar of silsila. I can roll the names one by one....all of them were bait in silsila and took it seriously. Start with deobandis and then non-deobandis.

1. The deobandi hazrat-all bait in silsila
2. The tablighi hazrats-all bait
3. Across the world all ulema are bait in silsila.
4. Great resistance warriors imam shamil, syed ahmed shaheed, imam sanusi etc
5. Shaykh uthman dan fodio
6. All mujadids of recent times
7. Imam hasan banna rh

Do you personally think they were all wasting their time

Come on look at what shah waliullah rh wrote in his fuyooz ul harmain etc...his dreams, mukhshafat.

Only people who opposed this system were the najdi wahabis....that is because bait and shaykh is synanomous with their corrupt ruler. Funny story my friend (a journalist) was once interviewing a big alim in a gulf country and he called him shaykh. The alim said nope im not a shaykh the shaykh is the ruler.....

Does the same principle of "speaking good" not apply to Sufees? Or is it permissible for them to call Shaykh Al-Albani (RA) "STUPID IDIOT"?

How many Mashaykh stood for it and said that it wasn't correct. We don't tolerate that sort of language for Hazrat Thanwi (RA) so we won't tolerate it for Shaykh Al-Albani (RA)?

Fair or UnFair?

Islamic or UnIslamic?

Not a single person in this thread is 'opposing' or 'denying' silsilas or tariqas. Lol. Calm down bro. ;)

Which is true, but he is not saying to leave tariqas. So chill.

The above is something we are obliged to do as a good Muslim. Still not opposing any tariqa or tassawuf.

So chillax akhi. And get me some gifts when you come to india. :)

bhai I have no issues with what is being said and totally calm. These are good brothers mashallah who I have enormous respect for. My issue is that this negativity puts people off completely. Like for example you in India must be thinking the situation of UK muslims is very depressing when in comparison to most places including indopak it is far better.

So we should abandon genuine and respectful criticism for fear of what others will think of British Islam? I agree with you provided that you agree with Ulamah and Mashaykh in UK to admit that there are problems and they are doing something about it. Set up an appointment and I will come with you.

If you can't then I can't.

uncle muadh whenever I have had the chance I have highlighted these issues to them respectfully. In some cases the ulema took it well whilst others saw me as a little kid and did not take it nicely...what can be done. Duty is to convey the message.
