(salaam)

In this thread I want that you sagacious guys share your views about the scholars who are not from subcontinent.

Laymen like me,often, fail to judge them. When I wrote the views of sh G.F. Haddad, then brother Muadh amiably forbade me to give his reference. Thanks to him.

Some details about them will be appreciated-

His Maslak
His qualifications
Either he's an alim from a madarsa or an scholar from a university or a self taught scholar

His views about different issues pertaining to 4 Madhabh

Whether or not he's adhered to any Shaykh for purification of soul.
etc

W-Salam,

This matter keeps me awake at night thinking about Ulamah. A complete analysis would be unwise so here is a list in the West of "Non-Asians" who can be trusted and are Sunnah Compliant and it is a very short list off the top of my head of Ulamah whom I love and admire...

  1. Shaykh (Maulvi) Mohammad Yusuf Hanafi Al-Makki (Canadian) ***Master of Hanafi Fiqh and one of the Authorities on Maturidi Aqeedah in English Language***
  2. Professor (Dr) Sheikh Awadalla Youssef Al-Azhari Al-Shaf'ae, Tableeghi (Egyptian, UK)...***POWERHOUSE OF KNOWLEDGE***
  3. Shaykh (Dr) Haitham Al-Haddad (HA) [Salafi] (Jordanian, UK) ***POWERHOUSE OF KNOWLEDGE***, Superb relations with Deobandees and very balanced, very Pro-Sunnah
  4. Shaykh (Maulana) Abdul-Shukoor Brooks Maliki (Canadian)
  5. Shaykh Mohammad Daniel (HA) (Welsh) ***RESPECT***
  6. Shaykh Mohammad Muslim Hanafi Deobandi (HA) (Swedish) ***I love Maulana, man*** Took him for a drive and he is amazing!
  7. Shaykh (Maulana) Zubair (American) Hanafi ***Amongst our Akabir in America and earliest Ulamah***
  8. Shaykh (Maulana) Haroon (American)  Hanafi **Amongst our Akabir in America and earliest Ulamah***
  9. Shaykh (Dr) Yusuf Talal DeLorenzo Hanafi ***Amongst early American Ulamah, 90% classic***

Wa alaikum as salam,

Yeah, wikipedia wouldn't be that reliable from an Islamic perspective but, you could google his bio on Muslim websites. His bio says that he studied under some famous traditional Ulama. From what I remember, he's Shafi'i in fiqh and I'm not sure which Tariqah he follows.

The differences between him and the Ulama of Hind range on issues from Fiqh, Tasawwuf to the Deobandi/Brailwi differences, about which many outside the subcontinent aren't really aware of. I don't know about other differences, if there are any.

The sunniforum links have more details...

Take a look at some very dodgy Barelwi beliefs of G F Haddad.

www.sunnah.org/aqida/madad.htm

This is another reason I don't like the website where he posts his fatwas together with faraz rabbani as well as some more decent scholars like Mufti Abdur Rahman ibn Yusuf and Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam etc. I think it is called sunnipath or something like that. I can't remember for sure, it's been so long.

A mixture of good and dodgy.

@Muadh khan

Assalalmu alaikum

I have observed that most of the salafi /ahle hadith scholars haven't memorized the whole Quran in India.

So I am curious to know if all these famous scholars who're seen on t.v. internet have memorized the Quran?

Pls take your time.

I shall be highly thankful to you.

Hope you and your family is fine.

Note: Other members are also requested to share their knowledge.
