A reminder to all participating on this thread....

Please only post relevant issues to the current topic, otherwise please start a new topic. Jazakumullah

Please maintain respect for each other and Ulamaa (if topic is about a scholar) by avoiding accusations and slanderous comments. Also remember that in order for criticism to be constructive, it must be channeled in the right direction. If there is any doubt in a matter, it is better to ask, clarify or to remain silent rather than to speak ill of another person.

also tabligh jamaat DO call non muslims to islam, many people have become muslim through tabligh jamaat. however they don't target non-muslims but when the opportunity arises of course they do give dawah. Ofcourse some people don't because its much easier to give dawah to muslims who already have the belief rather than someone who maybe atheist or of another religion, but through the effort your always learning and overtime it will become easy to give dawah to non muslims aswell.
also some points to mention
1. At the time of rasoolullah the muslims would flock to him and the masjid whereas today it is vice versa with the overwhelming majority.
2. calling people to islam IS tabligh, which means to convey (loose translation), and when muslims have turned away from islaam they are being called back
the effort of tabligh isn't just about dawah. theres sooo much more to it, i.e building eemaan, bringing sunnah into ourlives, daily azkaar such as tasbeeh and quraan tilaawat, am guessing you know the six points, but these can be explained in alot of detail
3. some forms of jihaad are tabligh/dawah as Allah said in the quran to rasoolullah do jihaad against the munafiqeen - there was no fighting with them
also this site is to benefit us right?? so cut back the arguing and take benefit from each other inshaAllah. the sahaba differed but they didn't act childish towards each other

salam,
1. Dawah to muslims also a part of tabligh, as well as non muslims.
2. Object of sahabah going in the path of Allah s.w.t was dawah. whether it be bilal ra, or khalid bin waleed ra. No one went to just kill people.

The effort of tabligh as we call it today, concentrates only on muslims. There is lot of hikmah of our elders in that. If not, the effort would have been under condemnation from various sources and stopped. But concentrating on just muslims, does not take it out of the fold of dawah & tabligh... it is still a part of dawah & tabligh as is madrassah, makatib etc..

wassalam

السلام عليكم

It's funny, however don't take this personally, but I've seen it locally too, that a lot of brothers ( mostly the salafis) especially who moan about jihad and want a daleel on everything, and when they get it or dont agree they shout Dhaeef/weak akhii, are the same ones that you won't see in Fajar because they spent the night with their boys smoking sheesha and talking about freeing Palestine. The same brothers will talk about oppression worldwide and quote ahadith of jihad and how it's been misinterpreted , and how their knowledge is above everyone as to how they know best because they know Arabic, they sit online and maybe have a blog or something . Then they'll criticise every Islamic movement out there under the sun but when you look closely at them as to what amr bil Maroof they're doing then it's the blog they have and also wearing Thawbs and walking down the local high street thinking they run the streets. Point is they'll be involved in nothing. Yet the same brothers I've seen with my own eyes go through a bit of difficulty and they're the first ones to moan, that's it's too hot or they are getting sweaty and itchy etc. I've seen this happen on Umrah loads of times and to be honest you feel like laughing. In TJ your sleeping in the mosque, in this country mostly comfortably conditions. Read the stories of those who done tableegh in its early days like Colonel Ameeruddin they went through the jungles and deserts of Africa, he was the first one to bring a jamaat to the UK and they pitched tents on the corners of the streets in the snow to give dawah. Today we moan when we have masajid, carpeted, heated, and warm water. Isn't that sad akhii ?? Truth is we don't have realisation for it due to our own nafs and ego, put it aside for Allahs sake and you'll see the benefits and rewards, try it. My brother if it wasn't for da'wah then all other avenues of Deen would be empty and there's no denying this. This field waters other fields, at the same time this is one of the most important fields.

To be honest most people will need an environment and its actually recommended, a person who's a lone wolf is an easy target for the devil, when he's with a group it's harder, just take the example of a lone sheep and a sheep in a herd, the wolf will most likely go for the lone one, why because its an easy target. Masha'Ala if you have benefitted by self study then that's good but it's rare, also it's not advised the reason being our elders say the one who has no ustad/teacher then iblees is his ustad -may Allah protect us. This leads to many many other routes and one of them is Salafism, before you know it you'll think Quran and Ahadith is easy and I can derive my own rulings before you know it you'll be fighting with brothers who's on the manhaj and who's off like our Salafi brethren do. The list goes on and this is just one example and the start of it.

We have technology today, Internet today, tell me one thing, when Nooh a.s failed in his da'wah mission centuries ago, why didn't Allah bring out technology then so the later Prophets and generations could benefit ?? Subhanala look today one click and you can send a email to thousands, a website you can make information accessible to the whole world. The Sunnah of Allah doesn't change my brother, and the Sunnah is to go to person to person from door to door to area to area. People on the Internet you don't even know them and frankly speaking what people seem they are online, they very rarely are in real life. Each one of us can act like the next Sayyuti, Nawawi, Ghazali or Shamil online, what matters and counts is what we do in our real life and to how many people we get the message of Deen to and for this the ulema have come up with the effort of TJ, many are benefitting and may you also benefit too.

Akhi Allah don't need mine and your Ibaadah, nor does he need us to follow the Deen or work towards furthering it,or any of our efforts, but we need Him, because if we won't do the effort then he'll replace us with ten better who are willing to do it and Wallah I've seen that happen too.

I'm not here to argue as there is a lot of wrong with me that I'm trying to fix, but just wanted to get some of my thoughts across, I could be wrong as well. Hope I didn't offend in any way.

Also before I forget I would like to mention, that even though currently TJ does not give direct dawah to non Muslims but it does so indirectly. But that's understable so many people are flocking to atheism from the Muslims that its actually alarming, if we won't go to these people who will ? The angels ? Or are they going to see some holy dreams ? Probability is very low to nil.

The brothers who know brothers who are active in this work will have come across countless stories about Jamaat's going abroad and many Shahaadah's taking place and this is due to the indirect dawah of the brothers because when your in jamaah the focus is to bring the Sunnah and commandments of Allah aza wa jal alive all aspects of life, from going to the toilet to sleeping to eating to going outside etc etc

Sheikh Jihani is one example wherever he goes masha'Ala Shaahada's take place. Taking of him reminds me that he was in London Markaz last week and in the talk he mentioned a ajeeb story about France.

He mentioned that in France ( Paris I think ) an Arab sister was doing taleem in her house from fazaile Sadkat and in there is a story/narration which mentions an ahadith to the nearest meaning that when you cook, add water to it, so it becomes like a curry ( shourba they call it in Urdu I think ) and then also offer it to your neighbour. This sister wanted to act on it so she cooked food and added water to it, when done she went to the flat above her and knocked on the door after a long time a really really old woman opened the door who could hardly walk. She asked her what do you want ? Sister says I'm your neighbour I cooked some food and wanted to share it with you as your my neighbour and this is what our religion teaches us. She was shocked, really ? You want to help me for nothing, is this what your Islam teaches and promotes ? Whilst I have a daughter who lives on so and so floor ( 6th floor) but for 5 years she hasn't come or knocked on my door once. She then said if this is Islam then it's the truth, she then testified on the spot and became muslim Subhanallah.

Later same lady went for hajj and sheikh Jihani was pushing her wheel chair around the Kaba in order to help her do tawaf. Sheikh Sudais heard that an old lady has become muslim and is here for hajj ( plus he's good friends with sheikh Jihani ) he called her and said your a new Muslim and said something along the lines that the Saudi govt will pay for your hajj.

Subhanallah amazing -this is just one story, brothers who don't know about Sheikh Jihani look him up on YouTube he was a ex international footballer. Awesome person and very inspiring.

Walahu'Alam

Assalam alaikum,

''Rather, you should be saying astaghfirullah because you attempt(ed) to defend things in deen without having the necessary academic knowledge to understand the issues you're trying to defend.''

Atleast he's not copy pasting and pretending to be knowledgeable. Im sure you haventmet the brother in person and you dont know what his understanding is. Copy paste from here and there and pretend to be knowledgeable is much more easier than having enough 'marifat' of Allah to want to go and give your life for him.

All i see if you copy/pasting stuff and twisting it to favor yourself. Its pretty obvious if you have some knowledge amd if you have read seerah of sahaba that they always went with weapons. So how many tablighis today take weapons with the give dawah to non muslims?

And btw if u still dont know, tableegh to non muslims is not allowed in tableeghi jamat. So that pretty much sums it up.

So how do you compare the dawah of sahaba in battlefields and the kicking out of the jamaat of 'maulana kaleem siddiqi' by tablighi jamaat from their masjids because they give dawah to non muslims?

Dont come up with 'its the act of the individuals' bcoz its not. Please do some research on 'trickle down effect' before u say that the elders are not like that.

How do you explain haji abdul wahhab ssaying in karachi ijtima that the taliban shouldnt fight americans but instead they should give dawah??????

Isnt this tahreef in deen? Which fiqh teaches you that when kuffar attack you, you should not fight them but give dawah.

[Surat An-Nisa : 75]

What does this ayat say? Go and give dawah to americans? Seriously if u dont want to follow quran dont do it , ull go in ur own qabar but billah dont become like the ulama of bani israel. They did tahreef e lafzi and u come up with tahreef e manwi.

أتؤمنون ببعض الكتاب وتكفرون ببعض؟

Tell me an honest answer, have u ever heard the following ayat in tableegh, in taleem and if yes then whats the translation uve heard?

[Surat At-Tawba : 111]

جزاك الله خيرا

Brother servant of Allah, same can be said to you. Tableegh is not farz e ain, jihad is :-)
How about you spend your next chilla in the ''way of Allah' so that you get a better understanding?

I know what ur next question would be, so y are u sitting here on muftisays.

Answer is, im telling people jihad is farz e ain and fuqaha have stated it also comes under fulfilling the farz to raise awareness of jihad being farz.

Mr guest here thinks just because he's anonymous, Allah doesnt know who he is astaghfirullah. Seems like it.

Bro, get ready to give me some of your salahs on the day of judgement for calling me a brilliant liar. I guess u r a sufi so its halal for you to slander muslims because your kashf says so? Or maybe u r tablighi and its allowed for you to call a 'jihadi' anyrhing u like to because your salvation has already been confirmed and guaranteed.

In any case, just prepare for the worst brother and no im not going to forgive you for calling me a brilliant liar.

Next time anyone says im a brilliant liar, contact maulana kaleem siddiqui in India and ask him did it happen or not. :-)

Beautiful rant thats seriously off topic. What xyz is doing in his personal life has no connection with the topic here, if your same logic is used then i can come up with tablighi smokers who smoke in jamaats, i can come up with old sathis dealing in shady businesses, i can show u old sathis that dont have pardah in their homes, who have tv, who eat mushtabeh food.... and the list goes on......... and on and on and on......

But thats off topic and is just a rant.

Asslamo Allaikum,

Your views are particaly true. From the beginning Nabi (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) used all permissable means at his disposal for Dawah, for example:

  1. He climbed on the mountain of Safah and invited the whole tribe of Quraysh (no person2person Dawah)
  2. He used to go around the markets of Makkah and just pronounce about Kalima (no person2person Dawah)
  3. He himself went and sent Sahabah to key personnel (specific person2person taregetted Dawah)
  4. He invited people in speeches (no person2person Dawah)
  5. And then he also did general person2person Dawah

So all available means were used for Islam and I am sure that you have read about all of these otherwise let me know and we can go through each and every one (Insha'Allah) line by line so I can be corrected because I could be wrong.

Jzk

Wa alaikum as salam,

To the contrary, brother all the references and Ahadith I posted were from the books of Ulama that I have with me and did not copy/paste, as if there's something wrong with copy/pasting in itself anyway. I didn't twist anything either. What's with this 'twisting' claim? Anyone with those books can cross check the references provided. At least I gave references related to the topic of discussion. Can you be fair now and criticize him for the things he posted without references from Ulama and that digressed from the topic of discussion?

You're right, I haven't met the brother in person but, his positions on this issue is well known to people online. I do know what his understanding is on this issue. I've been reading his posts (on sunniforum and more recently on muftisays) and ones similar to it for 5 plus years. He's not an Alim nor does he have the right, nor the necessary academic capability to understand, to argue and to assert his positions on these issues. There's no dig, or slander to the brother because that caution goes for any non Alim or person who does such things without having qualifications in Deen.

Any other person who has done similarly would have been cautioned by others, as it's our responsibility because Deen is very valuable. He doesn't get a free pass.

For your information, the usul in the work of Da'wah and Tabligh vary from place to place and from situation to situation. Da'wah, in some cases is not directly given to non Muslims and in other cases, it is. I can't speak for how the work is done or to the mistakes that are made by some in the UK.

Because I'm not there.

Here, the effort is a little different. Conlonel Amiruddin رحمة الله عليه as well as his students (the Amir of my halaqah being one of them) have given shahadahs to thousands of Non Muslims while active in Tabligh...just saying to point out that the situation is not the same everywhere.

The rest of your post I'll excuse myself from addressing as it digressed to other things...
