W/S akhi,

It's same attitude that has enabled me to question much of the stuff the Tablighi brothers have been feeding me for a while now, Alhamdulillah. I attend Gahst because it is pure Da'wah not because I believe I'll get 700 rewards put in my account or reward for 70, 000 nafl salah or Jahanam won't touch me, but because Qu'ran has confirmed it's one of the best things to call people towards Allah.

It's been a while, but I've decided, I've no intention go to on Jamat as I don't feel it'll benefit me at all. I went once and I hated it. The room was quite humid and many of the brothers snoring loud certainly made it an irritant experience. Personally, it's a means of self reflection and putting things right. It's certainly for many people and helps people in that regard, but for others it doesn't. Mash'Allah I've come across many pious brothers who were very knowledgeable and practicing who never contemplated going on Jamat. Much of what was being taught by some of the elders is what I learned a decade ago by reading Taleem-ul-Haq. Many brothers strangely said you can't learn the Deen just by reciting Qu'ran unless you're in the right environment? I've learned more about Deen and it's pierced my heart by self studying from right sources and communicating with brothers who can think past that thinking pattern a little bit, particularly, brothers from HCY. Allah says in the Qu'ran, to ponder over his Words and you'll shake. That's what exactly happened to me in the walls of my own home, Alhamdulillah.

I don't undermine the concept of TJ, and Allah reward those who indulge in this effort in abundance. They're doing a mighty fine job, and have been for many decades, but as other Muslims who believe in other methods and have been successful too. It is clear that as Muslims, we need to start at the grass root levels within our homes and our communities. More knowledge will help us raise the levels of our understanding. Taking religious teachings more seriously will enable us to get closer to where we agree more and disagree less. Even when we disagree, we will do it in a more civilised way without compromising our fundamentals. When we unite within our families and communities, the positive peaceful vibrations will spread outward and have more of a global impact. And finally, when we reach that stage, we will have less to complain about unity and everyone else.

Not all sahabah you're right, but the majority of them left for the sake of Deen. This is confirmed by the number of graves of Sahabah in the arabian peninsula being far less than their graves that are spread around the world.

The likes of Bilal (RA) and Khalid ibn Walid (RA) are buried in the Syrian region along with 1000s of Sahabas (RA) who were sent by Umar (RA) as reinforcements. Battle of Hira and Yarmouk.

Surely, they went to go rule and conquer those areas due to them having the same intent of running out the Muslims. It was these same people who tried to kill the Muslims in the battle of Mutah.

Read vol 1 of Haystus Sahabah to understand why armies were sent and for what purpose they fought and conquered.

We're repeating ourselves here...

Thread had been moved out of the Q&A section and can remain openas many people will have much more to say.

I personally know exactly where you're coming from, I've been twice in Jamaat nearly 20years ago and it changed my life for the better, but I stay away for the same questions you ask and much more. However, I don't wish to put anyone off since Allah uses many means as a guidance, for me it was the TJ's for others it's other groups.

All works are correct in their own way and all are needed just like the five fingers, each one is needed and each one serves its purpose.

salaams,
brothers there no need to mock efforts of deen, secondly IF a brother in the effort says something which seems wrong why not pull them to the side and either clarify the issue or rectify it?? also you said you went jamaat once and didn't benefit, thats fine but theres thousands upon thousands who do benefit worldwide! i've seen brothers go from junkies to deen, drug dealers to deen etc etc. theres soooo much good coming from the effort of tabligh and you focus on small issues. also who says the only jihaad or the only going in the path of allah is ONLY tabligh?? and even if they did, take em to the side and explain it to them - simple. if they listen then good and if they don't then you've done your part. please be respectful inshaAllah and also have correct and good intentions

alhamdolillah may allah always keep me at the forefront when the words of rasoolullah (saw) are being twisted. academic backing is there for anyone to see in the actual narrations of the prophet of allah (saw).

[quote]Do yourself a favor too and drop the mocking act with the two blessed efforts of deen. It's disrespectful...

its mocking when i do it, but its fine when its done to support tabligh jamaat???

I think to get anywhere with this discussion, we need to first agree on what the objective of Jihad is. Any suggestions?

Easy brother. We'll just agree or disagree.

Me and brother abu mohammed agree similarly on the points made in this thread, but equally respect the other brother's feelings, thoughts and interpretations on the methods of TJ.

May Allah grant us all Jannah without reckoning.

salaam

i have no problem with tabligh and neither have i a problem with tabligh jamaat as long as they stick to tabligh. the problem starts when they start to claim all manner of things for themselves. by allah just today i was trying to convince a local tablighi brother to allow me to take my 12 year old son in jamaat with me for the weekend. i was told the minimum age is 13 so we came to a compromise and i will instead take him to join a jamaat from morning till night insha'allah.

lets first define what jihad is...

Quote:
Jihad: The Most Superior Action

Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): A man came to Allah's Apostle (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) and said, "Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward)." He (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) replied, "I do not find such a deed." Then he added, "Can you, while the Muslim fighter is in the battle-field, enter your mosque to perform prayers without cease and fast and never break your fast?" The man said, "But who can do that?" Abu- Huraira added, "The Mujahid (i.e. Muslim fighter) is rewarded even for the footsteps of his horse while it wanders bout (for grazing) tied in a long rope." [Bukhari]

Time spent in Jihad: The Most Superior Action

It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) said: If some persons of my Umma (were not to undertake the hardships of Jihad), and he (Abu Huraira) then narrated the rest of the hadith and then said: A journey undertaken for jihad in the evening or morning merits a reward better than the world and all that is in it. [Bukhari]

Mujahedeen: The Most Superior of people

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri (RA) : Somebody asked, "O Allah's Apostle (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam)! Who is the best among the people?" Allah's Apostle replied "A believer who strives his utmost in Allah's Cause with his life and property." They asked, "Who is next?" He replied, "A believer who stays in one of the mountain paths worshipping Allah and leaving the people secure from his mischief." [Bukhari]

Reward for Mujahedeen: The Most Superior Reward

Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): The Prophet (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) said, "Whoever believes in Allah and His Apostle, offer prayer perfectly and fasts the month of Ramadan, will rightfully be granted Paradise by Allah, no matter whether he fights in Allah's Cause or remains in the land where he is born." The people said, "O Allah's Apostle ! Shall we acquaint the people with the is good news?" He said, "Paradise has one-hundred grades which Allah has reserved for the Mujahidin who fight in His Cause, and the distance between each of two grades is like the distance between the Heaven and the Earth. So, when you ask Allah (for something), ask for Al-firdaus which is the best and highest part of Paradise." (i.e. The sub-narrator added, "I think the Prophet also said, 'Above it (i.e. Al-Firdaus) is the Throne of Beneficent (i.e. Allah), and from it originate the rivers of Paradise.") [Bukhari]

Narrated Samura (RA): The Prophet (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam)said, "Last night two men came to me (in a dream) and made me ascend a tree and then admitted me into a better and superior house, better of which I have never seen. One of them said, 'This house is the house of martyrs." [Bukhari]

Narrated Al-Bara (RA): A man whose face was covered with an iron mask (i.e. clad in armor) came to the Prophet and said, "O Allah's Apostle! Shall I fight or embrace Islam first? "The Prophet said, "Embrace Islam first and then fight." So he embraced Islam, and was martyred. Allah's Apostle said, A Little work, but a great reward. "(He did very little (after embracing Islam), but he will be rewarded in abundance)." [Bukhari]

Narrated Anas (RA): Haritha was martyred on the day (of the battle) of Badr, and he was a young boy then. His mother came to the Prophet and said, "O Allah's Apostle! You know how dear Haritha is to me. If he is in Paradise, I shall remain patient, and hope for reward from Allah, but if it is not so, then you shall see what I do?" He said, "May Allah be merciful to you! Have you lost your senses? Do you think there is only one Paradise? There are many Paradises and your son is in the (most superior) Paradise of Al-Firdaus." [Bukhari]

What is Jihad?

In this day and age of Television Islam there are many try to give another meaning to the term, so here it is as defined in the four Madhabs:

Hanafi Madhab

Jihad means to be involved in fighting in the cause of Allah's by way of one's health, wealth and speech. [Al-Badaus-Sanai]
It is further explained as calling others towards the true religion of Islam and fighting them if they are unwilling to accept this true religion. [Fathul Qadeer]

Maliki Madhab

The Muslims are to fight with the Kuffar to advance the cause of Allah (SWT). [Hashiyatul Adwi/Ash-Sharhus Saghir]

Shaf'ae Madhab

The meaning of Jihad in Islamic Sharia is to make the utmost effort in fighting in the path of Allah (SWT). [Fathul Bari]

Hanbali Madhab

Jihad means to fight against the disbelievers. [Matalib Ulun Nuha]

i dont see tabligh being mentioned anywhere. the closest is calling people to islam and fighting them if they do not accept. but tabligh jamaat DO NOT call non muslims to islam.

Spare the slandering and making up stuff, brother. That was not done. The words "You seem" and "as if" were used. You know what they mean. It's also observable online to see the nature of your contributions on this issue on sunniforum as well as muftisays. Nobody's taking anything out of their pocket. You made some nice points at times but, like now and in many other cases, you have no business to assert your positions in these matters.

Rather, you should be saying astaghfirullah because you attempt(ed) to defend things in deen without having the necessary academic knowledge to understand the issues you're trying to defend. Like how you did in the other thread with the word Ghazi in Arabic. Doing this harms yourself and possibly others. There was no twisting of Ahadith. References from Ahadith and explanations of research Ulama were given, while in your posts in this thread, only Ahadith that were not related to the OP's question were posted. Don't assume the position to defend academic matters of Deen when you're lacking in its necessary prerequisites.

Somebody mocked in support of the work of Da'wah and Tabligh in this thread? Who did? We'll take them to task إن شاء الله. But I didn't see any mocking accept from you. It's poor judgement to think two wrongs make a right. They mocked (which, from besides you I haven't seen in this thread) so you mock. That's how we're getting down?
