welcome back sunniforum....

bro maybe a better way to look at would be to say " im not cut out for it" rather than saying "its not for me". That way it shows that it is your weakness in a number of things, for e.g you lack in tolerance or patience etc, be careful not to criticise or belittle the work, you have to understand that you get all sorts of people in tj and they all carry on doing the work so you have to think and say that you are lacking in something, safest position to take.

but if you think its not your cup of tea then its fine, but do connect to some effort of deen / mashaykh, and that's a must. Also 2 things to keep in mind do not criticise or put others off , other than that never say never, just view it as your weakness, by thinking like that there will be times your in need of the work but due to your view you might get deprived of the benefits of the effort of tj.

So what you're saying in essence is that the elders of tableegh and the other elders after them misinterpreted the ahadith of jihad and ayats and have deluded the people in thinking tableegh to be its something it's not ? So they have given the masses/the public a false version of history ? Plus you've been to many esteemed scholars as well.

Then your sugar coating it by saying you agree with the effectiveness and other sentiments, I'm reading between the lines here so please do elaborate as that's what it seems.

It's not for you because you can't sit in a room of people snoring and due to it being stuffy/hot, yet you come here and talk about jihad, there wouldn't be no jihad if there weren't no dawah akhi and same goes for Tasawwuf, so I believe your not fully opening up here akhii. Please elaborate as I think you have major doubts and I would like to know what esteemed scholars you spoke to because it seems they just furthered it.

Correct, I don't agree with how they've interpreted certain ayahs and Hadith when it comes to Jihad, but whether you believe they're literally going in the path of Allah or indulging in some "form" of jihad one cannot deny they've done an admirable job in saving people from fitna and reminding people our true purpose in this life. That's what I mean how it's an effective means to spread the deen and help others. I hope that's clear which, is why I still attend weekly Gashts. So, I'm not sugercoating anything.

I've spoken to the likes of Mufti Menk, and Sheikh Zahir Mahmood as just a couple. They've given me a clear insight and perspective.

I talk about the actual jihad that took place and that's well pronounced in our history books where we can draw an array of lessons from not just Tabligih.

My views, feelings and opinions are clear as my Aquafresh toothpate, akhi.

I appreciate your concern and don't mean to offend anyone. Let's leave it at that.

W-Salam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

I am looking at your question differently.

When I look (ponder) over the Qur'aan, I understand that the methodology of our beloved Nabi (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) was Dawah towards Allah (SWT).

[12:108] Say, This is my way. I call (people) to Allah with full perception, both I and my followers. Pure is Allah; and I am not among those who associate partners with Allah.

Imam Ibn Katheer (RA) states that Allah (SWT) is ORDERING Nabi (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) to inform manking and Jinnkind that his way (path), methodology, Maslak and Sunnah is to give Dawah towards Allah (SWT)

Imam Tabari (RA) mentions that he Nabi (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) was COMMANDED to say that his duty is to give Dawah towards pure Tawheed, sincerity (towards worship) with rejection of all other dieties and dogmas, and towards obedience of Allah (SWT) and abandoning of disobedience towards him and that this is his path and his invitation (to others)...

Sayyidina Rabi Ibn Anas (RA) stated in regards to [12:108] Say, This is my way. I call (people) to Allah with full perception, that this is MY DAWAH!

Sayyidina Ibn Zayd (RA) stated in regards to [12:108] Say, This is my way. I call (people) to Allah with full perception, that this is MY WAY, MY COMMAND, MY SUNNAH and MY MANHAJ

Both of these are ascribed to Nabi (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) implicitly.

So it is inconceivable for us to imagine that the Sahabah did anything apart from establishing the Tawheed of Allah (SWT)! When you look at Jihad the most conclusive verses of its purpose are as follows:

[2:193] Fight them until there is no Fitnah any more, and obedience remains for Allah. But, if they desist, then aggression is not allowed except against the transgressors.

[8:39] And fight them until there is no Fitnah (mischief), and total obedience becomes for Allah. So, if they desist, then, Allah is indeed watchful over what they do.

Imam Ibn Katheer (RA) Allah commands us to fight the kuffaar so that there will be no fitnah, i.e., shirk, and the religion will all be for Allah alone, i.e., the religion of Allaah will prevail over all other religions.

Imam Tabari (RA) So fight them until there is no more shirk, and none is worshipped except Allaah alone with no partner or associate, and trials and calamities, which are disbelief and polytheism, are lifted from the slaves of Allaah on earth, and religion is all for Allaah alone, and so that obedience and worship will be devoted to Him alone and none else.

In adabah gasht there is always references made how all Sahaba (RA) had this concern for the Ummah and made preaching Tawheed their primary goal as there are no Prophets to come after Mohammed (SAW).
It can be safely deduced that preaching Tawheed was their primary goal and the best methodology was adopted but the overall goal was Tawheed, yes.

What is the purpose of Jihad, not spreading Tawheed?

good point brother. Instead of saying woe to me it would have been better that you made dua for me.
