I came across this. The respected shaykh passed away but some very interesting insights. Could afriki haqq or other south africans tell us about him.

I found this particular quote by the shaykh interesting;

Sheikh advised that the effort of the Khanqa must start adopting the methods of the Tabligh Jamaat i.e.
- Door to door visits to mureeds and general muslim public
- Have special programs for those doing the work to keep them motivated
- Have regular mashwerah with workers

The Shaykh was a khalifa of Hadhrat Shaykh Muhammad Zakariyya رحمة الله عليه and was instrumental in popularising the works of his Shaykh in particular getting the Aap Beti translated by Mawlana Yusuf Karaan thereafter having it published. He is Mawlana Ibrahim Mia: ulamadeoband.wordpress.com/2013/11/22/shaykh-mawlana-ibra...

It is noteworthy to mention that the Mia family are amongst the pioneers of Islam in South Africa from the turn of the 20th century (1900). See more concerning their history here

I have never heard them being referred to as Sayyid and highly doubt that they are. Their family roots, if I am correct, go back to Simlak in Gujrat. Perhaps someone else can shed more light on this.
