well muadh what can be said...our history is like this. The recent baighairat statement of ali al jifri claiming that mandela called towards peace etc whilst muhammad qutub rh called towards takfir and bloodshed. Do people like al jifri even know anything about mandela. Mandela was a militant and was known to have committed some terrorist attacks/also some legitimate resistance. Off-course this would not fit in with the lovy dovy image that people like al jifri like to portray. What can be done bro except to to heavily refute such statements.

I think one reason for these kind of people gaining popularity day by day is "our" inferiority complex. The masses have been bombarded for decades with the slogan, that recently there has been NO intellectual contribution of the Muslims to the world. Now, we want to understand our Deen from a secular approach. In other words we want to learn the knowledge of Makkah and Madinah but on the pattern of Oxford. It makes us feel less backwards.

Does anyone agree?

In our times you can try to refute Secularism, Modernism and nobody really cares or supports you. You can write about defmation of Sayyidina Rasul-ullah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) people barely get interested. You can write about clear violations of Shariah and NOT ONE ALIM will support publicly although privately they will send you message after message. You are basically left to the dogs to be eaten alive!

You can write about defending Taqleed and Tassawuff and they LOVE you.

THEN you write about a legitimate concern in Tassawuff you will be hunted down like a stray dog with rabbies by the Mureeds worldwide. They will make sure they make your (personal and professional) life hell UNTIL you repent about their Shaykh. Messages are spread about you, people are warned about your misguidance and all limits of decency are crossed because it becomes Halal for the Mureeds to target you!
