What happens when a person remembers Allah for the entire day

Ibn al-Qayyim [rahimahullah] said,

When a person spends his entire day with no other concern but Allaah alone, Allaah [subhaanahu wa ta'ala] will take care of all his needs and take care of all that is worrying him. He will empty his heart so that it will be filled only with love for Him, free his tongue so that it will speak only in remembrance of Him [dhikr], and cause all his faculties to work only in obedience to Him.

But when a person spends his entire day with no other ...concern but this world, Allaah will make him bear its distress, anxiety and pain.

He will leave him to sort himself out, and cause his heart to be distracted from the love of Allaah towards the love of some created being.

He will cause his tongue to speak only in remembering people instead of remembering Allaah.

He will cause him to use his talents and energy in obeying and serving the people. This person will strive hard, laboring like some work-animal, to serve something other than Allaah.

Everyone who turns away from being a true slave of Allaah by obeying and loving Him, will be burdened with servitude to some created being.

Allaah says in the Qur'an [interpretation of the meaning]:

And whosoever turns away [blinds himself] from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent, We appoint for him a shaytaan to be his Qareen [intimate companion]. (Sura al-Zukhruf, Verse 36)

It was narrated that Anas [radi Allaahu anhu] said that the Prophet [sallal laahu alaihi wa sallam] said:

Whoever is mainly concerned about the Hereafter, Allaah will make him feel independent of others and will make him focused and content, and his worldly affairs will fall into place.

But whoever is mainly concerned with this world, Allaah will make him feel in constant need of others and will make him distracted and unfocused, and he will get nothing of this world except what is decreed for him.

(narrated by al-Tirmidhi, Hadith No. 2389)

Significance of Istigfaar

Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: The Messenger of Allah (saw)said,

"If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not." [Abu Dawud].

People often forget the importance of this simple yet powerful dua of Istighfar. If you are trying to attain something in life or going through a rough time, be it depression, or lost a loved one, illness or too much worry and anxiety...then keep your tongue moist in istighfaar. Some of us want to get married...make istighfaar! Some of us want children...make istighfaar! Some of us want an increase in rizq...make istighfaar! Whatever it is make istighfaaar and you will see amazing results in your life. I dont mean by doing istighfaar once in a while...No, I mean be constantly doing istighfaar throughout the day an night; while you are in the car, while you are busy cleaning, cooking and taking care of your kids an so on. A lot of people of the past and present have sworn by it...alot of them have said that they noticed their duaas being answered more often after doing it. You have nothing to lose try it!

You claim to be a Sufi?

Woe to you! You claim to be a Sufi, yet you are impure! The Sufi is one whose inward and outward have become pure by following the Book of Allah and the Sunna of the Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam. As his purity increases, he further emerges from the sea of his existence and gives up his will, choice, and volition.

The Quran - A complete cure

"The Qur'an is a complete cure from all diseases related to the heart and body, and all the ailments of this world and the hereafter. But it is not necessarily the case that each and every person is successful in its application. If the one who is ill seeks medication through it in a manner with truth, iman, acceptance, strong belief and having fulfilled all the conditions - then it is impossible for the disease to withstand it.

If the speech of the Lord of the heavens and earth was revealed on a mountain it would cause the mountain to crumble, how then is it possible for the disease to withstand it?

The one who has been granted understanding of the Qur'an realises that the cure for every single illness of the heart and body has been pointed out in the Qur'an. The way to protect oneself from these diseases has also been mentioned.

Whosoever is not cured by the Qur'an then may Allah not cure him. And whosoever does not find the Qur'an sufficient, may Allah make nothing sufficient for him"

The Complaint of the Ignorant, Ibn Al-Qayyim‏

source : Al Fawaid (taken from the English translation of the book) p. 134

The ignorant people complain to people about Allaah, and this is the highest degree of ignorance, for if he had known his Lord, he would not have complained about Him, and if he had known the people he would not have complained to them.

One of the predecessors saw a man complaining to another man about his poverty and dire necessity. He said to him, ‘O you! By Allaah, you have done nothing but complain about He who has mercy for you, to the one who has no mercy for you’.

The following verses have been mentioned about the meaning of the previous statement of the predecessor.
When you complain to a son of Adam
verily you complain about the Most Merciful
to the one who does not pity.

On the contrary, the person who is profoundly knowledgeable about Allaah complains to Allaah alone. And the most knowledgeable person about Allaah is the one who complains about himself to Allaah, and never to people. He complains about the causes that make people do wrong to him, for he knows about the following Qur’anic verses,

‘And whatever of misfortune befalls you it is because of what your hands have earned. And He pardons much’
(Ash-Shura, 42: 30)
‘Whatever of good reaches you, is from Allaah but whatever of evil befalls you, is from yourself.’
(An-Nisa, 4: 79)
‘(What is the matter with you?). When a single disaster smites you, although you smote (your enemies) with one twice as great, you say: ‘From where does this come to us?’ Say (to them), ‘It is from yourselves (because of your evil deeds). ‘And Allaah has power over all things.
(Al-Imran, 3: 165)

Therefore, there are three levels: the lowest one is to complain about Allaah to his creatures, the highest one is to complain about yourself to Him and the middle one is to complain about His creatures to Him. May Allaah make us from those who complain to Him alone about ourselves, He the Majestic and Most High, Ameen.

Subhanallah, Ibn al-Qayyim's words to those engulfed by ghafla:

Ibn al-Qayyim rahimullah :-

"Nothing brings more disgrace to a person than him being heedless of Islamic virtues, of beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds. Whoever is such, then he is from the barbaric hooligans who pullute the waters and raise the prices.

If he lives, he lives without honour and if he dies, he dies without being missed. The absence (of such a person) brings comfort to the lands and to the worshippers. The skies do not weep for them and the ghurabaa' (strangers) do not miss them"

[Miftah Dar al-Sa'ada, 1/134]

He (rahimahullah) also said of those who've been deprived of knowledge, insight, aspiration and set determination:

"They're the ones who are described as:

أَمْ تَحْسَبُ أَنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ أَوْ يَعْقِلُونَ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا كَالْأَنْعَامِ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلاً
"Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path." [al-Furqan: 44]

This group are the worst of creation. They are a sight for sore eyes, they bring fever to the souls and illness to the hearts. They constrain upon homes, raise the prices and none benefit from their companionship except the deprived and disgraced.

They know, but they know only the outward appearance of this life whilst of the Hereafter, they are heedless. They know, but they only know that which harms them and benefits them not. They're articulate, but out of desire do they articulate. They speak, but only in ignorance do they speak.

They believe, but only in 'Jibt' and 'Taghut'. They worship, but they worship other than Allah that which harms and does not benefit them. They argue but only in falsehood so they may condemn the truth. They ponder and spend the night but only in displeasing speech. They call, but they call upon other gods along with Allah. They judge, but the judgement of jahiliyyah do they seek. They say 'We are peacemakers!' Indeed they are those who bring corruption but they do not know.

This is the sort of creation they are: Humans in appearance but devils in reality."

Ten phrases that easily lead to Paradise

Ten different phrases that are short, easy, and light, but will give you what no eye has seen, no hear has heard, and what no mind has imagined.

Enjoy (and implement):

1 - "Whoever says: 'Glorified is Allah, the Most Great, and praised is He' [Subhan Allah al-'Adhim wa bi-Hamdih] will have a date palm planted for him in Paradise."

['Sahih al-Jami''; # 5531]

2 - "Whoever is stricken with sadness, grief, sickness or hardship and says: 'Allah is my Lord, without any partners' [Allahu Rabbi, la sharika lah], then it will be removed from him."

['Sahih al-Jami''; # 6040]

3 - "Whoever ate something, then said: 'Praise be to Allah who has fed me this food and provided it for me, without any strength or power on my part' [al-Hamdu lillah aladhi at'amani hadha wa Razaqnih bi ghayr hawlin minni wa la quwwa] is forgiven his past and future sins. And whoever wears a garment and says: 'Praise be to Allah who has clothed me with this garment and provided it for me without any strength or power on my part' [al-Hamdu lillah aladhi kasani hadha at-thawb wa Razaqnih bi ghayr hawlin minni wa la quwwa] is forgiven his past and future sins."

['Sahih al-Jami''; # 6086]

4 - "Whoever enters the marketplace and says: 'There is none worthy of worship except Allah who has no partners, for Him is the Dominion, and for Him is all Praise, He brings life and He causes death, and He is Alive and does not die, in His Hand is all good, and He is able to do all things,' [La ilaha ill-Allah, Wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-Mulk, wa lahul-Hamd, yuhyiyy wa yumit, wa Huwa Hayyun la yamut, bi Yadihil-Khayr wa Huwa 'ala kulli shay'in Qadir] then Allah will write one million good deeds for him, and will wipe away one million of his bad deeds, and will raise him one million levels and will build a home for him in Paradise."

['Sahih al-Jami''; # 6231]

5 - "Whoever controls his anger when he is able to act upon it, then Allah will call him to come in front of all of the Creation so that he would let him choose from the Hur al-'Ayn and marry from them whomever he pleases."

['Sahih al-Jami''; # 6518]

6 - "Whoever asks Allah for Paradise three times [Allahumma inni as'aluk al-Jannah], then Paradise will say: "O Allah! Enter him into Paradise!" And whoever seeks protection with Allah from the Fire three times [Allahumma najjini min an-Nar], the Fire will say: "O Allah! Protect him from the Fire!""

[Reported by at-Tirmidhi, and it is authentic]

7 - "Whoever seeks forgiveness for the believing men and the believing women, Allah writes for him - for every believing man and woman - a good deed."

[Reported by at-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and Ahmad, and it is authentic]

8 - 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud said: "Whoever reads 'al-Mulk' (chapter 67 of the Qur'an) every night, Allah will protect him from the torment of the grave. At the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), we used to call it al-mani'ah (that which protects). In the Book of Allah, it is a chapter which - whoever recites it every night - has done very well."

['Sahih at-Targhib wat-Tarhib'; # 1475]

9 - "Whoever asks Allah sincerely for martyrdom [Allahumma inni as'aluk ash-shahadah], Allah will cause him to reach the status of the martyrs even if he dies in his bed."

['Sahih al-Bukhari'; # 1909]

10 - "No one witnesses that there is none worthy of worship but Allah and that I am Allah's Messenger - truthfully, from his heart - except that Allah makes the Fire of Hell forbidden to touch him."

[Reported by Muslim, Ahmad, and al-Bayhaqi]

...........

Quote:
Imam Malik rahimullah was also asked a question and he asked the questioner to give him time to make some research and the man said:'But the issue is very simple.

Maalik retorted, 'There is nothing simple in knowledge! Don't you her the saying of Allaah: "We shall send down to you a weighty word." (Qur'aan 73:4)

Maalik used to say, "The people of knowledge and understanding that I have met in our country, when one of them was asked a question on an issue, he would feel like the one about to die.

But the people of our own time love giving fatwaa (without hesitation). Had they know what they are going to face tomorrow (in the Day of Judgement) they would not have done that. Umar, Alee and 'Alqamah are some of the best companions of the Prophet, yet when anyone of them was asked a question, he would consult his fellow companions before giving an answer to it. But it is unfortunate that fatwaa has become the pride for the people of our time"

Three Ameens

Prophet (saw) said Ameen thrice when Jibreel come and said..

Kaab Ibn Ujrah رضي الله عنه relates that Rasulullah (saw) said Come near to the mimbar and we came near the mimbar. When He (saw) climbed the first step of the mimbar, He (peace be upon him) said "Aameen", When He (peace be upon him) ascended the second step, He (saw) said "Aameen", When He (saw) climbed the third step, He (saw) said "Aameen" When He (saw) came down, We said "O Rasool of Allah (peace be upon him), we have heard from you today something which we never heard before" He (saw) said When I climbed the first step, the angel Jibraeel (alaihi as-salam) appeared before me and said

"Destruction to him who found the blessed month of Ramdhan and let it pass by without gaining forgiveness"

upon that I said 'Aameen'. When I climbed the second step, he said,

"Destruction to him before whom thy name is taken and then he does not make Dua for Allah's blessing on me (by saying, for example , Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam)."

I replied 'Aameen'. When I climbed the third step, he said

"Destruction unto him in whose lifetime his parents or either one of them reaches old age, and (through failure to serve them) he is not allowed to enter Jannah".

I said 'Aameen'. (Hakim, Baihaqi)

Talk to Allah

"Develop this habit of talking to Allāh. My Shaykh 'Ārifbillāh Ḥadhrat Dr Abdul-Ḥayy 'Ārifi (May Allāh have mercy on him) told this to us repeatedly. Sit in solitude and contemplate that I am infront of Allāh. Tell Him everything that is on your mind and bothering you. Your past mistakes, the present difficulties and future apprehensions. Tell Him in detail and ask for guidance and help. Inshā Allāh, in addition, to relieving your anxiety it will lead to the creation of a bond between you and your Lord, Allāh (ta'alluq ma Allāh)."

- Shaykhul Islām Hadhrat-e-Aqdas Mufti Muhammad Taqi Uthmāni حفظه الله

What is Dunya ?

Maulana Rumi (RA) explains the reality of the dunya by posing the question, “What is dunya?” Some ignorant people say, “Kick the dunya aside, kick the dunya aside!” Our Shaikh Hazrat Hakeem Akhtar (DB) says, “If you do not have money, and if you do not have food, then you will not be able to even lift your leg up to kick the dunya aside.” From this we can understand that wealth is not necessarily dunya. Then what is? Maulana Rumi sums it up in one line, where he poses the question, and then answers it. He says, “What is dunya? It is to be unmindful of Allah.”

Clothes, silver, gold, money, wealth, wife and kids are not necessarily dunya, provided they do not make a person unmindful of Allah. In other words, all these things are kept according how Allah wants them to be, and he does not use any of these things in disobeying Allah, then this person is a man of God, and is not materialistic. On the other hand you have a person who is broke. He spends his life hungry and goes through financial difficulties, but is negligent of Allah, and disobeys Allah, and then this person in reality is materialistic even though he has nothing. We understand that even living in luxury and affluence, a person can be a wali of Allah, and contrary to this, in poverty and hunger; a person can be distant from Allah and materialistic. That is why Maulana Rumi (RA) has defined dunya as negligence towards Allah, not wealth, and prominence.

The proof of this statement can be found in the Tafseer Ruh-ul-Ma’aani under the verse where Allah says, “And the life of this world is nothing but capital of deception.” Allah uses the Arabic word manta’, so what really is mataa’? Allamah Aalusi (RA) (the author of the above mentioned Tafseer) mentions that mataa’ actually refers to a cloth that women normally use in the kitchen to wipe and clean the kitchen area. So it is something very low and worthless.

Allamah Aalusi (RA) poses a question in his Tafseer that when is the dunya considered lowly and bad? He answers by saying that the dunya is only bad when it makes you unmindful of the Aakhirat. The dunya is carrion, and its seekers are dogs. But this is with a condition, and the condition is that it should make one unmindful of the Aakhirat. Allamah Aalusi (RA) mentions that if the dunya does not make one unmindful of Allah and the Aakhirat, and the dunya is made as a means to attain the Aakhirat, then it is a great capital and saving. One person uses his wealth to serve the Ulamaa. He donates his wealth to masjids, and madrasahs. He makes utilizes his wealth for Islamic publications. He feeds students of deen and pious people. So is this person’s wealth merchandise of deception? Is it lowly and degenerate? No, rather it is a great capital that he has saved up, which is being sacrificed for the sake of Allah. That is why it is mentioned in a hadith, “No one but a pious person should eat your food.” The reason for this is that the pious person after eating will get strength and energy and he will do good deeds. So the one who fed him will also have a share in the reward and this will be a form of Sadaqah Jaariyah (continuous charity). So this form of dunya is not debased because it is being used as a means to build the Aakhirat.

This type of wealth is not given to everyone. Everyone is not so fortunate that their wealth does not make them unmindful of Allah. My Shaikh, Shah Abdul Ghani (RA) used to say that Allah does not disclose the secret of His love to every heart. He then would recite some poetry in Farsi with great enjoyment. The meaning of the poetry is as follows:

Allah does not disclose the secret of His love to every heart.

And every eye is not always fit to guide one on His path.

Every pearl is not given the honor of being part of the king’s crown.

And every messenger was not blessed with the ascension (me’raaj).

Not everyone is chosen for the service of the Deen.

One out of a thousand is blessed with this honor

I pray that Allah gives us the taufeeq to utilize whatever dunya we have for the sake of Deen, and also that Allah include us amongst those that He has chosen for the service of His Deen. Aameen.

-Dars-e-Mathnawi pg. 20-24

This is how our nafs keep us away from accepting what is right. Nafs is a physical being and its food comes from this world (the desires n lust), as much you will feed it by fulfilling its desire as much it will become strong and starts overcoming your True self .i.e. your Fitrah’
Have they not traveled throughout the Earth, with their hearts to reason with, and ears to hear with? Truly it is not the eyes that become blind, but do the hearts which are in the chests. (Al-Hajj, 22: 46)
The desires are like a horse and a man is like a rider, if our desires become uncontrollable they will surely win and when they’ll win our Fitrah’ will be hurt and that is why a man feels guilt when he goes against his Fitrah’ but as the desire is more strong and he has become the slave of his Nafs he just feel a guilt and carry on feeding the nafs
Balance is required in both our heart and mind as the mind asks philosophical questions whose answers are already been known to the heart. But because of being dirty by worldly desires the heart lost in darkness and this darkness can only be removed by the ayahs of the Quran which are the light and clean the heart from all the ailments.
Remember only a clean heart will get the satisfaction by getting and acting upon the guidance from the Quran.
Those who believe, and whose hearts find assurance (and peace) in the remembrance of Allah. For, in the remembrance of Allah, hearts find assurance (and peace) (Al-Ra’ad, 13: 28)

Quote:
As Salaam Alaykum:

A Young professor of botany arrived at a small village, to study the local plant species, he met an old Man ,and asked him if there where any guest houses near by, where he could stay for the night. The old man said there where no guest houses, but he would be honoured if he would stay with him, besides he lived on his own and would really enjoy some company.

As the evening progressed the subject turned towards religion. The young professor started boasting about his religious Knowledge, the Young professor had studied the works of Imam Ghazali رضي الله عنه, Shaykh Abdul Qadir Gilani رضي الله عنه amongst many others.

The Old Man was fascinated to hear the words, of the great Scholars being relayed to him, and listened intently. The old man noticed that despite the young professors vast Knowledge , of religion, he did not offer prayers, nor was his manner of sitting speaking or even eating according to the sunnah.

The young Professor carried on boasting, about his Knowledge . Finally the old man spoke and said " my Son Only a blind man knows the value of eyesight, whilst those of us who are blessed with it take it for granted. My son I have spent my entire life in regret that, I am illiterate and cannot read and I did not get the opportunity, to learn from the great works of all the scholars you have mentioned. Yet I ask you my son what is the use of all the knowledge you have gained, when you cannot bring yourself to make one sajda before your creator, what use is such knowledge my son? The young Professor, was silenced upon hearing this. He announced he was tired and went to sleep. The old mans wise counsel had no effect on him."

Story Written by Julaybib.

Something to think about:

Is not our condition like the young professor, we study book after book, we spend hours listening to lectures; Yet we have no inclination to put into practice what we learn. Even admonishments, come to us whether through illness, poverty or other afflictions yet we remain in slumber, and like the young Professor we fall asleep, we gain nothing from our knowledge other than arrogance and boast fullness

May Allah give us all the tawfiq to practice what we learn and embrace Islam in its entirety especially a Sinner like me ameen.
