## caution/warning (may Allah protect us)

Narrated Abu Hurayrah:

I heard the Messenger of Allah (ï·ș) say: There were two men among Banu Isra'il, who were striving for the same goal.

One of them would commit sin and the other would strive to do his best in the world. The man who exerted himself in worship continued to see the other in sin. He would say: Refrain from it.

One day he found him in sin and said to him: Refrain from it.

He said: Leave me alone with my Lord. Have you been sent as a watchman over me?

He said: I swear by Allah, Allah will not forgive you, nor will he admit you to Paradise.

Then their souls were taken back (by Allah), and they met together with the Lord of the worlds.
He (Allah) said to this man who had striven hard in worship; Had you knowledge about Me or had you power over that which I had in My hand? He said to the man who sinned: Go and enter Paradise by My mercy. He said about the other: Take him to Hell.

Abu Hurayrah said: By Him in Whose hand my soul is, he spoke a word by which this world and the next world of his were destroyed.

Always be Grateful, say Alhamdulillah

Quote:
I wonder

If Cleopatra visited Swarovski Jewelry store or Claire's, I wonder how she would feel about her jewelry?

If Kisra, the ruler of Persia spent the night sleeping in YOUR bed, what would he think of his own royal bed?

Would Caesar be proud of his luxurious life; reclining on a couch and fanned by slave girls if he knew that my living room has a more comfortable reclining chair and an A/C unit that can make it feel like an igloo even in a Texan summer?

Would Qaroon strut arrogantly about the keys to his wealth that needed strong men to carry, if he knew that the keys to my wealth are carried in plastic cards in my wallet.

In the land of Mesopotamia so mesmerized by their chariots, what would they think if they saw a Toyota Corolla?

If the people of Baghdad and Cordoba, who used to pride themselves at the vastness of the collection of their libraries, saw the amount of books that can be carried by a college student on their USB drive, how would they feel?

If the kings who used to pride themselves on the quickness of their messengers and carriers were introduced to email, text messages and whatsapp, what would they think of how we were living?

If Al-Nu’man, the king of Arabia, who used to drink cold water kept in a special made skin container and the people used to envy him for that, how would they feel if they saw the water fountain in our masjid?

If the ‘Abbasid Caliph Al-Mansour who used to have his slaves mix hot water with cold water to create a unique bath for himself and his people used to imagine what that was like, what he would think of trying out my jacuzzi?

If the people who used to dream about items and search for them all their lives knew that we simply search and purchase them on amazon.com?

If the people who used to travel for months and maybe years to reach their destinations knew that it takes us only a few hours on planes, trains, cars or motorbikes!

My brothers and sisters, we live today better than many of the kings and royals of the past, but we can’t see it! We only have eyes for what others have, remember every time your eyes wander wide, your heart constricts!

"And do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [some] categories of them, [its being but] the splendor of worldly life by which We test them. And the provision of your Lord is better and more enduring." (Taha v. 131)

Do not focus on what you DON’T have. Focus on what you DO have!

Comprehend the following statement with your heart and memorize it on your tongue:

When you are grateful to Allah and do what He asks of you, He will give you much more than what you ask of Him.

Tolerance

Quote:
This is called tolerance amongst each other
I heard an amazing thing from a recent Bayaan I was listening to about how much respect and adab our akaabir had for each other...

It was narrated how Imam Shafi (RA) went to visit the mazaar (burial site) of Imam Abu Hanifa (RA) in kufa, there was a mosque nearby and it was time for namaaz and so Imam Shafi and his travel companions decided to go for namaaz, Imam Shafi went and led the salaah, after the salaah finished, Imam Shafi's companions asked him, O hadrath, you never lead salaah, you prefer not to, but how comes here you did so?

Imam Shafi responded to the nearest meaning by saying that in my maslak praying surah fatiha behind the Imam is wajib, however in Imam Abu Hanifa's maslak, praying anything behind the Imam is deemed as makruh, I did not want to go against my maslak by not reading surah fatiha behind an imam, but at the same time Imam Abu Hanifa is my elder, and I respect him, so out of respect I led the salaah so this whole masla is avoided.

May Allah also give us the same wisdom

The armchair reformist notion

Quote:
Our culture has become such that the delight we get in criticising, taking faults and analysing the vices of others is not to be found in any work or real change. To discuss the problems of our surrounding is a pass time for which we invent creative ways of new insight but we are unwilling to take any significant steps to alleviate these problems. If we take up the standard then our wish is that somebody else start the reformation (for us).

Our reformative works progresses on the notion that other than us every person is corrupt- we are responsible for correcting their character and deed. They think and act on all these things but it transpires to very few minds that we have faults also. At the very beginning, we must consern (ourselves) with rectifying these (faults of ours).

Hence, any reform movement that is unaware of itself and makes others their target will have no weight or effect. It will merely become a bureaucratic endeavour.

Faults

Quote:
"I met some people who had no faults, but when they started exposing other people's faults, they started having their own faults; and I met some people who had faults, but when they concealed other people's faults, their faults were forgotten. (Maalik ibn Anas)

Sƫrat 'l-Fātiងah is a cure for all Diseases

Imām al-SuyĆ«áčÄ« (Raáž„imahullāh) mentions in his book al-Durr 'l-ManthĆ«r (1/18):

Al-Hasan admonished people one day and a man in the gathering cried loudly while he could have lowered his voice, so Al-Hasan said: "If this was for the sake of Allaah, then you have exposed your secret, and if it was for other than Allaah, then you have destroyed yourself." The plots of the Devil
Quote:
Ibn al-Qayyim Ű±ŰÙ…Ù‡ Ű§Ù„Ù„Ù‡ said:

“From the plots of the enemy of Allāh ŰłŰšŰŰ§Ù†Ù‡ و ŰȘŰčŰ§Ù„Ù‰ (i.e. Satan) is that he makes the believers afraid of his soldiers and allies. So, they do not strive against them, they do not enjoin what is good, and do not forbid what is bad.

This is from his greatest plots for the believers, as Allāh ŰłŰšŰŰ§Ù†Ù‡ و ŰȘŰčŰ§Ù„Ù‰ has informed us by Saying:
“It is only Satan that suggests to you the fear of his allies. So, do not fear them, and fear Me if you are believers.”

Qatadah explained this by saying:

“He makes them great and powerful in his heart. This is why Allāh ŰłŰšŰŰ§Ù†Ù‡ و ŰȘŰčŰ§Ù„Ù‰ said:
“
So, do not fear them, and fear Me if you are believers.”
So, the stronger your faith becomes, the weaker the fear in your heart will be of Satan’s allies, and the weaker your faith becomes, the stronger the fear in your heart will be of them.”

Sincerity of Intention

Ali RA said: There are 4 signs of insincerity
1 – Being negligent of doing good deeds in seclusion.
2- Performing good actions with increased eagerness when in the public.
3- Reducing the performance of those actions which people frown at.
4- Excelling in the performance of actions that will attract praise.

When Dawood Alaihi Salaam saw the size of the scales to weight mans actions, he was astounded and he said “oh Allah who ever be able to fulfil this up. Allah said “One date given with sincerity in my path.” @mufti Yusuf moosagie

Reminder to myself first before anyone else..

There’s a special place in Hell for regular Joe’s like you and I if we portray outward piety on social media but are totally different beasts in private and in real

It’s called “the Lowest Pit”

Imaam Nawawi writes a hadeeth in his Riyaadhus Saaliheen; Chapter 86; No. 690. Some explain it to suggest people who could be given a ticket to the Lowest Pit are those who “have faith in the heart but in practice portray characteristics as otherwise”

And the reality is we use Twitter/Facebook to express ourselves and the account can be a reflection of our hearts sometimes. But if the piety portrayed via the public account isn’t a reflection of privacy, the inbox, WhatsApp and the real life actions – alarm bells

And it’s said a person with one of four traits could potentially be given a ticket to the Lowest Pit, unless he/she drops the traits

What are the traits?

‱ When he is trusted, he betrays it

‱ When he speaks, he lies

‱ When he promises, he acts treacherously

‱ When he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, insulting manner

[SIDE NOTE: It’s amazing how trait four alone is probably an evidence against the vast majority of us on social media!!]

If you’re unfortunate to be admitted into the Lowest Pit, you’ll be joined by guys like Fir’awn and Abdullaah ibn Saba

Don’t wanna be in the presence of Fir’awn? Hypocrisy, fear it, cry about it, feel burdened by the potential of it – no one is free from it (yes, including those of us with “Saved Sect Syndrome”)

Don’t get carried away with the social media piety eh? Knowing how to copy/paste does NOT make us pious

Thx â˜ș

Abdullah ibn Mas`ud Ű±Ű¶ÙŠ Ű§Ù„Ù„Ù‡ Űčنه said,

“Four things are from the darkness of the heart – a full stomach without caring [whether it is halal or haram]; keeping the company of oppressors; forgetting past sins; and being under the delusion that one’s lifetime will surely be long.
There are another four things that are from the illumination of the heart – an empty stomach because of caution; accompanying the righteous; remembering past sins; and not expecting to live for long.”

One of our dear brothers said:

"I used to wonder at the stories of the righteous people before us, how they were able to read the Qur'an, engage in worship and pursue Islamic knowledge perpetually without becoming bored or fatigued!

However when I saw how people nowadays are able to remain fixed on their phones hours on end without experiencing fatigue or boredom, my wonder subsided.

It was only then that I realised that if one's heart truly loves a matter, it will never tire of it.."

O Allah .. Liberate our hearts from every attachment that doesn't involve You.
