The acceptance of dua

It is mentioned in a Hadith Shareef that on certain occasions Allah Ta’ala orders the angels to grant us exactly what we had asked for; irrespective whether the supplication is correct or not. The request is fulfilled in the same manner that it was asked for. That is why; we must exercise great caution in our speech.

Sometimes it occurs such that the supplication is not granted but instead something better and of a superior quality is obtained which we never even dreamt of. This is also the result of the Dua.
Sometimes it transpires that neither the Dua made for is granted nor is a similar or better thing attained. But instead a calamity, which was to have befallen on oneself, due to some wrong action committed, is obliterated (cancelled). This is also in fact the result of the Dua being accepted.

Sometimes it also transpires that in this world there are no apparent signs of one's Dua being accepted. However in the hereafter it will be revealed to us that a certain Dua made in this world, which was apparently not accepted, has been accepted and this is the reward for it. We will receive such great rewards that our minds cannot even perceive them. That is the time you will exclaim,

“It would have been better had none of my Duas been accepted in the world, so that I could be fully rewarded here. The rewards here are so much greater.”

This world is going to terminate. The thoughts of the human mind will also come to an end, so will the desires of the heart. Whatever one asks for in this temporary world, it is as if one is asking for such things that will eventually terminate. A person’s reasoning does not perceive those things that last forever. Allah Ta’ala bestows rewards, upon an individual, in accordance to His great magnanimity.

A human being cannot comprehend the vast and unlimited treasures of Allah Ta'ala.

In the explanation of the Hadith Shareef, “That a person’s Dua gets accepted,” it is mentioned that sometimes a person makes a Dua and whatever he asks for is granted immediately. This person becomes amazed and says, “Surely my Dua has been accepted.”

Sometimes it gets accepted so quickly that a person wonders why he made such a Dua.
Once I was travelling to Madina Tayyibah from Makkah Mukarramah by taxi. I sat in the taxi, looked at the Haram Shareef and made this Dua: “O Allah, bring me back quickly.”
We had barely travelled a short distance when the driver stopped at a garage to fill petrol and asked the passengers to pay the fare. There was a Turkish person who had not paid his fare but insisted that his fare had been paid. He showed a form or a receipt to the driver to verify his claim. However, that payment did not apply to the private taxi. The driver spoke in Arabic and the individual in Turkish. The driver could not understand him nor could he understand the driver. The argument prolonged and both were getting angry at one another. Eventually the driver threw his luggage out of the taxi and drove off.
Now, we were one passenger less so we returned to Makkah Mukarramah to pick up another passenger. I thought to myself that how quickly my Dua got accepted. I have already returned to Makkah Mukarramah!

After completing my stay at Madina Tayyibah I proceeded to Jeddah. In Jeddah, while boarding the flight, again I made a Dua, “O Allah, bring me back quickly.”

As the plane started moving and preparing to take off, the crew seemed very worried and concerned pacing from one end to another. Eventually an announcement was made that there was some technical fault with the plane and we were returning to Jeddah. Again, I recalled the Dua that I made and I thought to myself that I did not mean in it this way!

Power of Istighfar

It is said that he invoked Sunnah Istighfar اَسْتَغْفِرُاﷲَ الَّذِیْ لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا ھُوَالْحَیُّ الْقَیُّوْمُ وَاَتُوْبُ اِلَیْہ . He was restored within a few days and the jealous met a very exemplary end.'

The Blessings of abundant Istighfar.

Here is an article I cam across several real life true stories.

May Allah forgive us all! اَسْتَغْفِرُاﷲَ الَّذِیْ لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا ھُوَالْحَیُّ الْقَیُّوْمُ وَاَتُوْبُ اِلَیْہ

Salvation is a very great blessing. Just imagine, when the pronouncement of salvation for the Messenger of Allah was made in the Holy Quran, he was overjoyed. Only that Mu'min is successful who is absolved. If this salvation and forgiveness is demanded of Allah, it is called "Istighfar." Allah blesses that nation with the capacity and chance to repent whom He wants to save from punishment. The incident of Hazrat Younas' people is present in the Holy Quran. There occur some curtains and hurdles between man's supplication and the High Throne due to sins. Istighfar removes those curtains and hurdles.

Once Hazrat Imaam Ahmad bin Hambal was travelling across a far-off village of Iraq that the night fell. There was neither any intimacy nor a place to settle. He intended to spend the night in the Masjid. When he went there, the watchman refused to let him in. He tried to tell him but he was adamant to his stand. Hazrat Imaam said, "I may sleep here on the floor outside the Masjid." So he lay there but the watchman was adamant to his stand. He caught his feet and began to drag him away the Masjid when a baker caught sight of it. He requested Hazrat Imaam to spend the night at his house. He served and respected him well. Then he went out to knead flour. Imaam Sahib noted and heard him begging forgiveness going about and kneading flour. When in the morning, he was asked, he said that it was his daily routine. He said, "Did you ever find its apparent benefit? He said, "Yes, every of my supplication is granted. Only one supplication is till now not granted." He said, "Which one?" He said, "The supplication of visiting Imaam Ahmad bin Hambal." He said, "I am Ahmad bin Hambal. This supplication of yours has also been granted. I have been dragged to you."

The benefits of excellences and effects of Istighfar are very wonderful but the common people do not attend to it. This is also the curse of sins that despite reading so many uses of Istighfar, people do not opt for it. If I write down today the excellences and uses of Istighfar mentioned in the Holy Quran without explanation, the column will extend to eight pages. A few days ago, I happened to study the writing of an Arab femal scholar. Allah had blessed her with so many blessings and benefits of Istighfar. She writes, "O sister, burning in sorrows, miseries and worries, O sister wasting away yourself in weeping, O sister caught by trials, tribulations and troubles, why do you not use the medicine of Istighfar? It is balm of every injury and cure of every worry, every grief and every trouble." All these things are certainly true and the benefits of Istighfar are just a glimpse otherwise the man who beseeches to Allah again and again and repents of his sins, he will gain everything in the world.

A lady writes her own incident. She was a widow of thirty years with five children. She had neither a proper place to live nor any source of livelihood. She was a single widow with five children. It is not difficult to estimate her grief and worries. During those days of anxiety, she heard this tradition on the radio.

The man who opts for Istighfar i.e. always begs forgiveness, Allah rids him of every worry, trouble and grief and gives him livelihood beyond imagination.

She was a Mu'min slave of Allah. She began to say, "Now all my problems are solved." She busied herself and her children with Istighfar daily. They begged forgiveness for thousands of times daily. Only six months had passed that they found papers of inheritance estate. So they constructed their own house with millions of rupees and every luxury. Subhaan Allah! Those who ask forgiveness of Allah are very dear to Him. He does not render them needy of others. That lady thanked Allah and continued Istighfar. She set her children to get religious education and memorizing the Holy Quran. I happened to visit a great saint who had very strict terms and conditions a few days ago. Some saints are very mild whereas some others are strict with regard to the limits of Shariah. The creature benefits from both types of saints. The things that have been called "Cure" in traditions, honey and Hijaamah are also included in them. Allah has placed cure in both. Same are the kinds of the saints of Allah. Someone treats with honey i.e. mildness whereas the other with Hijaamah i.e. strictness. He was a strict saint. He would not often accept pledging from those who would go to pledge an oath of allegiance with him. If he was light to someone, he would say, "Observe fasts for three days and recite Istighfar for one and quarter past one lac times." Allah be thanked, wonderful benefits of Istighfar were observed. Someone was blessed with visiting of the Messenger of Allah and others were given some other blessing instantly. Qazi Abu Ali At-Tanukhi has written a book "Kitab-ul-Farj Ba'd-ul-Shiddata" ’’کتاب الفرج بعد الشدّۃ‘‘ i.e. Amplitude And Comfort After Hard Times. It is a very brief but effective book. He writes his own incident, "The enemies captivated me and intended to kill me. I recited Hazrat Younas' supplication abundantly during. That supplication had Tauheed, praise and Istighfar that is لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ سُبْحَانَکَ اِنِّیْ کُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِیْن After regular recitation for nine days, I was released from that captivity."

An Arab young man writes his incident vowing with Allah that whatever he was writing was true, "I was a poor depressed person. I went to Saudi Arabia to earn a few coins but I was arrested there. I knew that even if the arrested person in Saudi Arabia is innocent, it takes approx two years to get released. I made Istighfar my routine for thousands of times daily. Then I was released after just eighty-four days. The next day, someone gifted me sixty thousand Rayal. Then the situation began to change regularly." These are absolutely true incidents. They are the gems of the sea which are hidden in Istighfar. Today, I had sorted out so many incidents for you but I shall not write them in detail. For example:

i. Here is a doctor. Five doctors in the hospital conspired against him and got him dismissed from service. It is said that he invoked Sunnah Istighfar اَسْتَغْفِرُاﷲَ الَّذِیْ لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا ھُوَالْحَیُّ الْقَیُّوْمُ وَاَتُوْبُ اِلَیْہ . He was restored within a few days and the jealous met a very heinous exemplary end.

ii. Here is a lucky but issueless couple. They got treatment from so many countries but useless. Then they heard the verse of the Holy Quran which tells, "Beg forgiveness, Allah will give you wealth and children." They stopped every treatment and started Istighfar. Now they have three sons and four daughters.

iii. Here is a lady. Her husband abuses and beats her much and disgraces her. She adopted Istighfar. One day, her husband beat her well. After he left, she kept invoking Istighfar in grief and sorrow. She did not complain but begged forgiveness. All of a sudden, there was an explosion and a charm appeared at some place in the house. It came to be known that it was a dangerous magic spell. She threw that out of the house. When her husband came home in the evening, he began to ask forgiveness of her. Then he changed so much that life took a new turning.

iv. Here is a Muslim sister. She wants to marry a holy, pious, Mujaahid saint. She makes Istighfar her routine for 1500 times daily as اَسْتَغْفِرُاﷲَ الَّذِیْ لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا ھُوَالْحَیُّ الْقَیُّوْمُ وَاَتُوْبُ اِلَیْہ besides this abundance of small Istighfar اَسْتَغْفِرُاﷲَ رَبِّیْ وَاَتُوْبُ اِلَیْہ. Now, she is married to a scholar Mujaahid and a loving husband.

v. A woman got the disease of cancer. She recited Istighfar abundantly. After the next test, there was nothing of cancer.

vi. A woman was issueless even after thirty years of marriage. Someone told her about Istighfar and she got busy in it. Allah blessed her with children.

There are so many incidents. The object of writing them is to get persuasion to action. There is no exaggeration in these stories because Allah Himself promises numerous blessings at Istighfar. Allah does not go back on His words. Study Allah's words in Surah Hood verse No.3:

"And you must seek forgiveness from your Lord, then turn to Him in repentance, and He will provide you with good things to enjoy for a given time and bestow His extra favour on everyone who has extra good deeds (in his account)." (Hood:3)

The actual reward and blessings are in the Hereafter but there is promise of giving peace, calm, comfort and numerous kinds of blessings in the world also.

At another place, Allah says: So I said, "Pray to your Lord for your forgiveness. Indeed He is very-Forgiving, and He will cause the heavens to rain upon you in abundance and will help you with riches and sons and will cause gardens to grow for you and cause rivers to flow for you." (Nuh: 10-12)

If you meditate over these two verses only, you will come to know that Istighfar is key to every blessing and comfort. That's why; the Holy Quran orders for Istighfar again and again. Our Holy Prophet despite being innocent recited Istighfar again and again. Sahaabha would hear him reciting Istighfar for one hundred times in one sitting only. He advised his Ummah also to do so. If we take Sunnah supplications, there is Istighfar in most of them. I was observing ablution a short while ago. There was also Istighfar in the Sunnah supplication of ablution. Then I started to the Masjid. The supplication recited on the way to Masjid also contains Istighfar. After prayer, I recalled the Sunnah activity and this is Istighfar for three times. Our kind compassionate Holy Prophet taught us Istighfar in abundance. You can estimate from it how many uses are there in Istighfar. According to a narration, Hazrat Luqmaan said to his son:

"O my son, make your tongue habitual of ’’اَللَّھُمَّ اغْفِرْلِیْ‘‘ because there are timings with Allah when He does not reject anyone's supplication." Note, how necessary thing Istighfar is that it has been ordered to beg again and again. Qataadah says, "The Holy Quran diagnoses disease as well as its cure. Your disease is sins. Your medicine is Istighfar." Abul-Manhall says, "There will be no companion dearer than Istighfar in the grave. Allama Ibn Tammiyah was asked, "Should we observe rosary or Istighfar in abundance?" He said, "If clothes are clean, scent is good, but if dirty, soap is good. We often remain dirty." It means Hymn is like scent and Istighfar is like soap. Actually, Istighfar is a heavy rain of purity which purifies man from inner and outer side. The biggest purity is that Recording Book is purified. This book is given in the right or left hand. How much is Recording Book filthied by watching a movie? How much is Recording Book darkened by telling lies? The babblers speak nonstop. There is negligence in duty, evil-eye, unlawful living and dishonesty. How many sins have surrounded the Ummah? If listed, it will become a book. How much repentance and Istighfar in comparison with it? Sins are actually like the fat that when clots the veins of the heart there is heart-attack. Sins are like the web that prevails upon the eye and the eyes are sour. Sins are like the garbage that when it clots the water pipe, it is like a poison that when enters blood or vein it causes cancer. Istighfar is treatment of them all. Our sins have blocked those invisible pipes and lines from where mercy, peace, might and lawful living descend. Passing through them, our supplications reach the High Throne. We can avoid every grief, pain, misery deprivation, disease, shock and every trouble by asking forgiveness. The actual reward is that of the Hereafter about which Hazrat Ayesha says: طوبیٰ لمن وُجد فی صحیفتہ استغفارا کثیرا

Glad tidings i.e. Allah's good pleasure and Paradise is for the one in whose Recording Book is Istighfar in abundance. Allah be thanked, our organization has been blessed with Istighfar in abundance owing to the blessings of Kalimah Tayyibah, prayer and Jihaad. Never be negligent in reciting Kalimah Tayyibah in abundance. It should be at least for 100 times daily. Make arrangements for it for Allah's sake. Never give up recitation and Durood Sharif. I am indicating to the important points that were issued during ten days compaign of Istighfar. You will find those in today's paper.

Let us break up the sitting at the words of Hazrat Ali. العجب ممن یھلک و معہ النجاۃ قیل وماھی قال: ’’الاستغفار‘‘

Woe is to one who is ruined when he has the prescription of Istighfar with him. Asked, "What is that prescription?" The answer came, "Istighfar."

Woe to those who spend their time criticizing the scholars of this Ummah

By Allah there isn't a single scholar, contemporary or classic, who hasn't made mistakes or occasionally misspoke. The diseased and deviants of this age are the individuals who spend their days and nights watching lectures just to pounce at every error the ulema make, and subsequently hurl various labels at them. They think they are doing good work for Allah's sake but open their chests and you will find hearts of pure arrogance. They have existed since the time of the Messenger ﷺ. They will find error with anyone. Nay, one such person did find what he perceived as a fault with the Messenger ﷺ, in turn earning the Prophet's ﷺ displeasure. Such individuals are the same people who found faults with third Caliph Uthman and fourth Caliph Ali. They subsequently assassinated both caliphs.
My advice, especially to the youth who are getting interested in religion, is do not get deluded by such people. Take the good from the scholars and make duaa that Allah forgives and overlooks their shortcomings. Spend your time in increasing your ibada. Memorize the dhikr and duaas that the Messenger ﷺ made before sleeping and after waking up. These are the acts that will bring you close to Allah, not the feel good experience you get by putting down the ulema who do so much work for the Ummah, much more than people realize. If you disagree with a scholar and wish to address it OUT OF LOVE, then do so politely; and if the scholar has his opinion backed by thousands of ulema over the centuries, and you also have your opinion backed by thousands of ulema, then agree to disagree. No problem. We are still a brotherhood. Disagreements are part of the human condition; many sahaba had disagreements. No need to use them to hurl insults and labels at one another.
Just to clarify, I am not referring to scholars who contribute to oppression, or individuals who follow their whims and lead people astray from the way of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, etc. It is our duty to speak out against them.

''You place into great scrutiny the faults of others but conveniently disregard your own.
With such a state of affairs, how do you expect your prayers to be answered when you yourself have shut its doors?
Be pious, rectify your deeds & enjoin the good & forbid the evil so that your prayers are answered."

Moulana Abed Khan, a scholar of Islam based in Verulam and Executive Member of Jamiatul Ulama Kwazulu Natal, recently had the opportunity of spending the month of Ramadan in Santiago, the capital of the South American state of Chile. The month-long sojourn was an eye-opener with many highlights, as Moulana explained to Cii Radio’s Ulama in Focus recently:

I always had a desire to go to South America and experience Islam in that region. We always hear of some incredible and strange report-backs from there: So many Lebanese in Brazil, so many Palestinians, so many Syrians. I wanted to see for myself, and I wanted to do some Khidmah of Deen.

A group of South African Ulama have started incredible efforts in South America – they may not see the fruit of these efforts in their lifetimes, but we are already seeing developments that are a source of great joy and satisfaction.

There are Masaajid, Musallas, Muslims- some of them who have lineages that trace back to Nabi SAW and the Sahabah RA, and were previously wandering – are coming back to Deen. Immigrant Muslims who had inter-married and lost Islam in the process are also on the return path, with their new families.

They say Chile is the last country in the world, to the West and down to the South Pole. What is most gratifying, is that in a place like this as well, Allah SWT is being remembered.

The biggest challenge for Islam on this continent is the diverse spread of the Muslim population – Muslims are scattered everywhere and it is difficult to establish one central Masjid or meeting point.

For this Ramadan specifically, a flat was rented in Santiago, to serve as a Musallah. This itself was historic: In the history of Chile, the complete Qur’aan was never recited in Tarawih in Santiago. Previously, Muslims from Santiago would have to travel for 15-20km daily to find a Masjid where Tarawih would be performed. Some had never performed Tarawih in their lives.

This Musallah where we performed Tarawih was in a building that overlooked important landmarks in Santiago like the Presidential palace and Ministry of Justice. We can only be pleased that Allah SWT is also being remembered in such a location, as was the desire of Nabi SAW for the Word of Allah SWT to reach far and wide.

The congregation was made up of mainly Pakistanis and Arabs. As this was Chile, we could not expect huge numbers – we used to have approximately 15 Musallees, but by Chilean standards, this was excellent.

The Khatm of Quraan here was a very emotional episode. At the Markaz outside Santiago, a very senior Tableegh member, originally from Pakistan, approached us after Salaah with tears in his eyes and said this was the first time in the history of Chile – perhaps South America – that there were 12 Hufaadh in a single Saff performing Salaah, at least 7 of them were also Ulama.

People were really overwhelmed. I had never experienced something similar to this in my life before. On the 27th night, after I had made Salaam following the Khatam, the Masjid broke out into a roar. I was actually afraid that something unfortunate had happened, but I soon realised that this was the Musallee’s way of appreciating the Qur’aan Khatam that had just happened. They also had brought flowers which were then scattered over the entire Masjid.

Regardless of whether this is an Islamic or cultural practice, what I seek to illustrate is how they appreciated listening to the Qur’aan. This was the talk all over the city during Ramadan: This is the first time the Qur’aan is being completed in Santiago.

During our stay, Alhamdulillah, we held many programmes. I would conduct a daily program after Fajr, for approximately 15 minutes. We had to come down to the level of the common man to break the ice. We also had many Islamic QnA sessions. After Asr, we would read from the Ahadeeth Virtues of Actions(Fadhaail A’maal) and Virtues of Ramadan(Fadhaail Ramadaan). Furthermore, we would conduct basic lessons and demonstrations on practical Salaah for the Musallees daily after Maghrib.

I shall narrate something incredible that we encountered, barely 1 week after the flat was rented and established as a Musallah, we heard a knock on the door at an odd hour.

When we opened, you will not believe it, there were Christian missionaries standing there to meet us. News of the Musallah had not even reached every Muslim in Santiago, but the missionaries had already got wind of it. They approached us with literature in Arabic inviting to their creed. (If this is the effort they are making for darkness, you can imagine what we need to do).

We further met a man of Palestinian origin, who was not even aware that it was Ramadan, and offered us coffee at several instances during our conversation.

Taking a cue from her husband’s behaviour, a local Chilean lady who was married to a Muslim even requested us to pray that she does not become a Muslim.

These may seem like negative experiences, but I believe we should derive from them the positive:

How important is it not for us, to be good Muslims, not just in the Masjid, but practical Muslims.

I would like to salute the South African Ulama who have made these remote countries on the South American continent their home. The scale of their achievements may be slow, but the progress is great.

Many of these Ulama now are extremely fluent in Spanish. They have gained mastery in the language, and even converse better than the locals.

They went there with a noble objective in mind – If we go there with worldly motives, it will not work. A mission like this demands all-out sacrifice.

One’s accompanying family members also have to be on the same wavelength i.e. the relocation is for the service of Deen, and that is the objective.

Alhamdulillah, these Ulama have laid solid foundations. It is not easy, there is a lot of Mujahidah involved – but Insha Allah, their rewards will be equally great

This comes to mind...

The Key for Every Lock

A woman in distress once came to the renowned student of Imaam Ahmad bin Hambal (rahimahullah), Baqiyy bin Makhlad (rahimahullah), and begged him for help. She cried to him saying, “My beloved son has been taken prisoner by the Romans. My grief at his loss and yearning to meet him is such that I am unable to sleep for even a moment of the entire night. All I possess is my small home and I can find nobody to purchase it from me. Will you please find someone who will pay my son’s ransom? Days and nights have passed and I can find no solace, no peace and no happiness.”
Baqiyy (rahimahullah) replied, “You may return home. I will try to see to your problem insha-Allah.” Saying this he lowered his head and began making earnest du‘aa to Allah Ta‘ala for the freedom of the son.

Just a few days had passed when the woman came back to Baqiyy (rahimahullah) – this time with her son! She made du‘aa for Baqiyy (rahimahullah) and said to him, “Listen to his story, may Allah Ta‘ala have mercy on you.”

Baqiyy (rahimahullah) asked the son, “What happened to you?” He replied, “I was taken prisoner by the soldiers of one of the Roman kings. I belonged to a group of prisoners who would be forced to labor in the desert every day. We would labor until sunset after which the guard supervising us would escort us back in our chains. One day while returning, to my utter surprise, the shackles around my ankles fell off on their own! The guards in charge of me immediately began swearing at me and demanded to know why I took the shackles off. I pleaded with them saying, ‘No! I didn’t! By Allah it fell off on its own without me even realizing it!’ Since I was now unfettered they called the blacksmith. When he arrived he clad me in a new pair of shackles – but to no avail. I stood up and had only taken a few steps when the new shackles also miraculously fell off. They were completely puzzled and perplexed, so they summoned their priest and asked him what to do. He asked me, ‘Do you have a mother?’ When I replied in the affirmative he said, ‘It seems that she has made du‘aa for you and it has been accepted. It is better that you are set free.’ So they released me and even guarded me until I reached the border of the Islamic territories.”
When he heard this, Baqiyy (rahimahullah) enquired, “On which day and at what time did your shackles fall off?” When the boy replied, they realized that it was the exact moment that Baqiyy (rahimahullah) had raised his hands to Allah Ta‘ala in du‘aa. (Al-Muntazam li Ibnil Jawzi – vol. 12, pg. 274)

Lesson: Everybody has his own “shackles” – be it a problem in marriage, the desire for a child, or a financial burden. Each and every person has the ability to raise his or her hands and beg from Allah Ta‘ala. When the power of sincere du‘aa is unleashed, a person will be able to free himself from the fetters frustrating and binding him, sometimes for years. Du‘aa is indeed the solution to our every sorrow.

As salaamu alaykum.

I know Brother Jinn was planning to post some advices from the Great Shaykh Abdul Qadir al Gilani رضي الله عنه, so to get him started I though I would post the following,........... excellent thread by the way Brother Jinn May Allah Bless you with goodness ameen.

Thinking well Of Allah.

* O young man, attach your heart to your Lord, so when Iblīs comes to seduce you and make you change course, seek the help of Allah (mighty and glorified is He) to drive him away. Seek His help as did those before you. Do good works then think well of your Lord (mighty and glorified is He). Thinking well of Him and obeying Him will bring about marvelous results for you. There is so much good in thinking well of Allah (mighty and glorified is He), His prophets, His messengers, and the righteous among His servants (Allah’s prayer and peace be on all of them).

* O people, strive, work diligently, and do not despair for relief may come at any time. Have you not heard that Allah (mighty and glorified is He) has said: “Allah may bring after that something new to pass” (from 65.1) Fear your Lord and pin your hopes on Him; have you not heard His following words: “And Allah warns you of Himself” (from 3.28) As much as you have fearfulness and caution you will have safety. Put your trust in your Lord; have you not heard His following saying: “And whoever puts his trust in Allah, He will suffice him” (from 65.3) O Allah, let us do without Your creatures! Let us do without those who amassed the wealth of Your creatures, placed it beneath their feet, and withheld it from Your creatures while being totally indulgent in their pompous pride. The poor beg and appeal to them for help but they turn a deaf ear to them. O Allah, include us among those who get what they need through You and appeal to You for help in their serious problems! Ameen.

Sufyān Ath‑Thawrī (may Allah, high is He, show mercy to him) was asked: “Who is the ignorant person?” He replied: “One who ignores Allah (mighty and glorified is He) until he asks Him (mighty and glorified is He) for help with his needs.” His likeness is as the likeness of a man to whom the king assigned a job in his house, yet he left his work and went out to the door of a man in the same neighborhood and asked him for a piece of bread to eat. Should the king know about that, would not he hate him and prevent him from entering his house?

O you who are dead at heart, listen to these words! What losers you are that you die without knowing your Lord (mighty and glorified is He)! O Allah grant us knowingness of You, working sincerely for You, and ceasing to work for other than You! Grant us knowledge of Your outward Law and Knowledge of the inward. Grant us patience and satisfaction. Sweeten for us the bitterness of Your affliction which You foreknow will come our way. Cause the flesh of our hearts to die so that we do not feel the pain of the scissors of Your power, and thus Your companionship will last for us forever. Ameen.

Shaykh Abdul Qadir al Gilani رضي الله عنه

Aqeedat and protecting your Iman

In these trialing times of fitnah and fasad

One should not have 'aqeedat', on no one alive despite how big or how much following he may have, mankind is prone to errors, 'aqeedat' makes you blind and closes your ability to think and see, my brothers no bigger wealth is bigger than iman, protect that especially in these trialing times at all costs, because if you don't have that then you have NOTHING!

Aqeedat (someone else can translate this word for me into English) leads to one becoming blind from heart and brain, one looses the ability to reason and weigh up all scenarios, it leads to deviancy and hypocritical behaviour and a self righteous attitude, it leads to one leaving the balanced middle ground to more extreme things in methods, acts, actions. It's end result is extremism and you becoming a nut and with a possibility of that extremism even taking you out of the fold of Islam. Be on your guard.

Protect your imaan and be wary of the traps of the devil, seek refuge in Allah. Protect your imaan. Know that your allegiance should be only and only to Allah and his Rasool (saw), inwardly and outwardly and regardless of what group/methodology your from/follow.

May Allah protect us and have mercy on us all

O Allah! Grant us the wakefulness of the vigilant. Treat us like You treated them. Let us enter their spiritual states with forgiveness, good health, and permanent well‑being in religion in this world and the hereafter. O Allah, grant us Your nearness with forgiveness and well‑being. Grant us the goodness of today and the goodness of every day! Grant us the goodness of those who are present and the goodness of those who are absent. Drive away from us the evil of the present and the absentees. Grant us the goodness of the sultans whom you put in charge of Your land and guard us against their evil. Guard us against the evil of the wicked, the scheming of the disbelievers, the evil of all of your servants and lands, and the evil of every crawling creature You grasp “by the forelock. Certainly, My Lord is on a straight Path” (from 11.56). Give the disobedient persons to the obedient ones, the ignorant persons to the knowers, the absentees from Your presence to those who are in Your presence, the idle ones to those who have put their knowledge into practice, and those who have gone astray to the guided ones. Amen.

A beautiful dua by the great Shaykh of the Qadriyah order : Abdul Qadir Jilani rahimullah

Some advice, keep moving forward and building on the little you have even if it's a drop but don't look back, as yesterday is gone.

Quote:
O young man, the truthful person has no backward movements. He is always moving forward. He has a front but no back. He keeps to his truthfulness until his atom becomes a mountain, his drop a sea, his little bit so much, his lamp a sun, and his shell a kernel. If you are ever fortunate to come across a truthful person, stay always close to him. If you are ever fortunate to meet one who has your remedy, keep always close to him. If you ever have the good fortune to come across one who guides you to what you have lost, remain always close to him. You may never get to know such people for they are a few, rare individuals. The shell is abundant but the kernel is rare. The shells are in the garbage dumps, whereas the kernel is in the treasuries of the kings.

The definition of the Sufi by Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani rahimullah

Quote:
Woe to you! You claim to be a Sufi, yet you are impure! The Sufi is one whose inward and outward have become pure by following the Book of Allah and the Sunna of the Messenger of Allah (Allah’s prayer and peace be on him). As his purity increases, he further emerges from the sea of his existence and gives up his will, choice, and volition.

When someone’s heart becomes pure, the Prophet (Allah’s prayer and peace be on him) becomes an ambassador between him and his Lord (mighty and glorified is He), as Gabriel did. The foundation of good is to follow the Prophet (Allah’s prayer and peace be on him) in both his words and works. When the heart of the servant becomes pure, he will see the Prophet (Allah’s prayer and peace be on him), commanding him to do this and prohibiting him from doing that. He will become totally a heart. He will retire with full knowledge. He will become an innermost being with no publicity, purity with no impurity. Clear up everything from the heart. Pulling out the firm mountains requires mattocks of strife and enduring with patience the sufferings and the arrival of tribulations.

Repentance

Piety is the key to repentance, and adhering to it is the key to the nearness to Allah (mighty and glorified is He). Repentance is the root and branch of every goodness, which is why the righteous people never abandon it under any circumstances. Repent, O backsliders, O disobedient ones! Seek reconciliation with your Lord by means of repentance. This heart remains undeserving of the True One (mighty and glorified is He) as long as it contains an atom of this world and longing for any creature. Therefore, when you seek His company, evict both of these attachments from your hearts. This will not cause you any harm. For once you have established a connection with Him, this world and the creatures will both come to you while you are with Him, at His door. This is an experienced thing; it has been experienced by the ascetics who renounced everything.

Repent and acknowledge your shortcomings and weaknesses. Repentance is the water of the True One (mighty and glorified is He). He revives the earth after its death with rain and quickens the hearts after their death with repentance and wakefulness. O disobedient ones, repent, never despair of the mercy of Allah (mighty and glorified is He), and never lose hope of His mercifulness!

You must repent and ask for forgiveness frequently, for these are two great means to achieving success in the affairs of this world and the hereafter. Noah (prayer and peace be on our Prophet and on him) ordered his people to pray for forgiveness, and he promised them that He will respond by granting them forgiveness and putting this world at their command and at their service. So he said, quoting Him (high is He): “And ask forgiveness of your Lord, He is Forgiving. He will send the rain on you in torrents, help you with wealth and sons, appoint for you gardens, and appoint for you rivers” (from 71.10‑12). Repent from your sins and turn away from your current attribution of partners to God so that He will grant you all that you wish for of things of this world and the hereafter.

You have sinned as your father Adam (prayer and peace be on our Prophet and on him) sinned, so repent as he did. When he and his wife Eve (prayer and peace be on our Prophet and on them) ate from the tree that their Lord forbade them to eat, He punished them with remoteness and stripped them of the rewards of His generosity. He left them naked, so they picked up leaves from Paradise [to cover their bodies]. But the leaves dried up and fell, so they remained naked. They were then sent down to earth. All that occurred as a result of the evil of disobedience and noncompliance. The poison of disobedience flowed in their bodies so He expelled them. Then Allah (mighty and glorified is He) taught them how to repent and ask for forgiveness. They repented and asked for forgiveness, so He pardoned and forgave them.

When will you repent, O backsliders, O disobedient ones? Be reconciled with your Lord (mighty and glorified is He) by means of repentance. Was it not for my sense of shame in the presence of Allah (mighty and glorified is He) and in relation to His patience, I would get up and grab each one of you by the hand and say to him: “You have committed such and such. Repent to Allah (mighty and glorified is He)”. You must not speak and you will not be spoken to until your faith, certitude, and knowingness of your Master (mighty and glorified is He) have strengthened. Then, you will clinch to the firm handhold, which is the attainment of your heart to Him. The Prophet (Allah’s prayer and peace be on him) will be proud of you before the nations. O you who have believed with your tongue, how long will it be before you believe with your heart? O you who are a believer in your public life, how long will it be before you become a believer in your private life? Combining faith of the heart with striving against the lower self is useful. Combining faith of the tongue with disbelief in your heart is useless. The faith of the hypocrite is the faith of one who is afraid of the sword [of punishment].

O disobedient ones, repent from your disobedience, for your Lord (mighty and glorified is He) is forgiving, merciful! He accepts repentance from His servants and covers the sins and erases them. Repent with your tongues and hearts. O Allah, we repent to you for every sin and guilt and we will never commit them again! “O our Lord, do not condemn us if we forget or make mistake!” (from 2.286). “O our Lord, do not make our hearts deviate after You have guided us!” (from 3.8). O Forgiver of sins, forgive us! O You who cover the shortcomings, draw a veil over our shortcomings! Ask Him for forgiveness, for He (high is He) forgives the sins, accepts the righteous deeds no matter how few they are, and rewards in return with things that are even better, for He is generous and bountiful. He gives rewards without asking for something in return and for no reason, so what if there is a reason?

Deal with Him by means of believing in His oneness, performing good works, being detached from this world and turning away from it, choosing the hereafter and welcoming and wishing for it, and giving up the acts of disobedience and sins and forsaking them. The seeker of the True One (mighty and glorified is He) does not wish for His Paradise and does not fear His Fire, but only wishes to see His face. He wishes for nearness to Him and fears remoteness from Him. You are a prisoner of Satan, passion, the lower self, this world, and lustful desires, but you do not have a clue. Your leg and heart are in shackles, but you are totally unaware. O Allah, deliver him from his captivity and deliver us! Amen.

You must keep the fast, perform the five daily prayers at their prescribed times, and honor all the limits of the Law. After performing the obligatory worship duties, start supererogation. Impose on yourself observing the strictest laws of religion (‘azīma) and avoid following the allowed concessions (rukhṣa). If the person resorts to these concessions and gives up observing the strictest laws, it is feared that he would totally lose his religion. Observing the strictest laws is for grown‑up men, because it is about enduring what is most dangerous, hardest, and most difficult. Following the allowed concessions is for the youngsters and women because it is the easiest.

O young man, if you keep to repentance and proper reflection, you will give up all interests in worldly things and become occupied with those that are relevant to the hereafter! You will give up your interest in what belongs to the creatures and become occupied with what belongs to the Creator, and you will give up committing evil and do only good. O you who have relinquished reflection and repentance, you are a loser but you do not have a clue! You are a loser not a winner. Your likeness is as the likeness of a man who sells and buys without keeping account of his expenditure or counting the cash. He will soon find out that his capital has disappeared and what is left with him is bad, pseudo‑silver coins. Woe to you! Your capital, which is your lifetime, has gone to waste while you do not have a clue! Everything that you have earned is counterfeit whereas everything that the believers have earned is a gem. The believer will soon fulfill his commitments, whereas you will be taken and thrown in prison. The True One will not accept a single atom of what you have, for the True One (mighty and glorified is He) accepts only sincerity, which you do not have. Have you not heard these words of the Prophet (Allah’s prayer and peace be on him): “Call yourselves to account before you are called to account, weigh yourselves before you are weighed, and smarten yourselves up for the greatest parade”?

It has been said that whomever Allah (mighty and glorified is He) wishes to be a knower of Him (mighty and glorified is He), one of His saints, one of His lovers, one of His sought after ones, He assigns an angel to look after him in both his private and public lives, foster his heart and his intention, drive evil away from him, and allow only what is good to reach him. This is similar to what He (high is He) said about Joseph (prayer and peace be on our Prophet and on him): “thus [it was] so that We turned evil and lewdness away from him; [for] he is one of Our chosen servants” (from 12.24). This is what He did for the prophets, the messengers, the saints, and the truthful (Allah’s prayer and peace be on all of them).

John (prayer and peace be on our Prophet and on him) was passing by children who were playing who said to him: “Play with us.” He replied: “Glory be to Allah, it is not for playing that we have been created.” The lower selves of the people of Allah urge them to do good not evil. They have joined their hearts after being subjected to striving. Whenever their lower selves were subjected to strife, they gained comfort and longing for the Highest Companion. Listening to the Qur’an comes to be all their business. Before this, they used to hear only the sound and miss the meaning. Do not listen to or participate in prattle. The Qur’an is the source of life for the hearts and of purity for the innermost beings, and it lays the foundation for neighboring Allah (mighty and glorified is He) in Paradise.

O young man, you have piled up sins one on top of another, and you are heading toward a vague, ambiguous end which may be good or bad. Pay attention to death as there is no way that you can escape it. Give up indulging in idle gossip and getting involved in matters that are irrelevant to you. Curtail your hopes and reduce your greedy keenness on obtaining worldly things because you will be dead soon. Your death is so close that it may come while you are sitting here. In this case you would have come here on foot but would be carried back to your house in a coffin.

Special Dua By Maulana Abdullah Darkhwasti Rahimullah

Oh He who sees the hidden things and hears them; you are the only one who grants all that a person hopes for.

Oh the one who is the only hope when (I am) faced with hardship; and complaints are lodged before him and refuge is sought from him. Oh the possessor of the fortunes of sustenance; bestow your favours upon me as all goodness lies in your hands.

I have no means of reaching you except through my poverty; hence, through my poverty do I lift my hands to you in prayers. I have no secret schemes through which I could reach you except by knocking at your door; if you turn me away, then whose door shall I knock ?

If only the good people are hopeful of your mercy; to whom shall the bad sinner turn ? No, it does not behove your generosity to turn away the sinner; your grace is abundant and your generosity great.

And who else is there whom I could call upon if I, your beggar, is denied your grace ?

(In the end do shower) do shower your mercies upon Nabi (saw) and his family, that Nabi who is the best of creation and through whom intermediary is sought.
