No I think its just like any other big city...People are disconnected. Rest of UK Muslims usually live close in neighborhoods like Ghettos

Nothing to do with me Hazrat. Most Pakistanees in UK are Kashmirees, Pushtuns or Punjabees and all 3 of these groups don't hold back when it comes to Guests and Feeding.

I was in Jamaat once and I helped a Pushtun drug addict and when I went to the Markaz next time he placed a HUGE CHICKEN in front of me and said "Only I can eat it"...I was deeply embarrased as there were other Ulamah and elders there and I tried to share it and he said, "I bought it for you so why are you giving it away!"

Simple minded brother but it shows the nature of Pushtuns.

The Punjabees and Kashmirees will feed the guest the Guest is dead!

-No one really cares about the average person here to be honest.

-These girls can't get jobs, it's because their are hardly no jobs out there, I know brothers who are students and who are severely struggling. If someone claims that there is loads of jobs then please get in touch as I know many who need jobs

- The govt has made things really really hard, immigration policies get stricter by the day, they've made a complete mess of it. Many visas are refused for no reason and many times people's passports are kept for 6-8 months

- I know people who work but they don't get paid minimum wage, they work in chicken and chip shops and get paid 2 an hour, the owners paying are muslim and a lot of the time practicing as well, to bad they have forgotten workers have rights as well and what they are

- To last the students often have to work more hours for less undercover, they're desperate and people take advantage of their desperation

- Sisters who are students are prey for the people they work with/live with, and often cases are heard about rape and coercion due to her desperate circumstances

- The ones who do have work, they are treated worse than animals. A mate of mine was sacked for coming late by 5 mins and his owner swore and abused him like he's his personal slave, this guy was desperate for work even though he only got paid 20 a day, anyway he came home and was given the boot, me and a few friends decided to give his owner a beating for taking advantage of people's desperation, but the brother stopped me and said leave it I got the job via a reference and I don't want to ruin that link who knows when I'll need it. Unfortunately I had to leave it there.

- What help have I seen for these guys ? Virtually none. However a lot of these guys are on the fiddle and the UK is heaven for them. In fact there are a very few desis I get along with on a personal level, most I have come across are classless and lack principles and morals. What hurts is they prey on each other and take happiness in someone' else's desperation. However there are some nice people too.

-I could go on, but ill leave it here for now.

May Allah protect the oppressed and may Allah deal with people who take benefit of others desperation.

Why not put up a notice in the local Masjid....specifying that the service is only for people you've mentioned in your post....and if there's anyone meeting the criteria that maybe other people may know of, if they could pass on your details.

Or you could pm brother Daywalk3r, and ask if he could sign post you in the right direction.

A particular case is being considered by British Government so I can't say much on the issue although I know the details very well.

The point which none of you are addressing is what kind of men/families will send their women folks half way across the world to fend for themselves? There are Sisters who are assisting many young Pakistani girls who have come over UK and the questions which always come up are:

  1. Many of these girls are not academically gifted

  2. Many of these girls are not proficient in English language

  3. Many of these girls are not particularly bright (socially) and street-wise

  4. Many of these girls are not particularly clued up on British Immigration Policies and Procedures

  5. Many of these girls are not in high profile British Universities but in private institues which are money making scams (as warned by British Government) repeatedly

  6. Why are their families sending them to UK (without Mehram)?

    1. The answer is GREED

    2. The answer is BRITISH PASSPORT

I deal with a lot of problems on behalf of our local Mosque and other Masajid and Ulamah in UK so believe me a lot of times I have to interact with such cases (personally) and I am just amazed! Some of these girls marry (anybody and everybody) just to stay in UK or to get a passport. One case which I was helping me, this girl said on the phone, "Br...I don't care if I am divorced but I want my £300.00 of Mehr money and I am not going to give my Jewellary back to him. She then added when I go back to Pakistan nobody knows that I was married in UK so doesn't matter"

She said those words in clean, clear Urdu.

Overseas student numbers in England fall

The number of international students at English universities has dropped for the first time in nearly three decades following increases in tuition fees and stricter visa rules, according to a new report.

A study by the Higher Education Funding Council for England, which distributes government finance to universities, has found that enrolments by overseas students dropped by just under 4,600 in 2013, marking the end of a continued upwards trajectory.

One of the most striking findings is a 25 per cent decrease in the number of full-time EU undergraduates, which higher education experts said was the result of annual tuition fees rising from 3,000 to 9,000 in 2012. Under EU rules, students from member states must pay the same fees as their UK peers, but are not always entitled to the same loan arrangements.

However, international undergraduate numbers from non-EU countries showed a 3 per cent rise. This was partly due to changes in the Hong Kong education system resulting in the graduation of a double cohort, who could not all be accommodated in local higher education institutions. The number of undergraduates coming from Brazil also doubled from 2010 to 2013.

The report also revealed that the number of postgraduate students joining English universities from India and Pakistan dropped significantly, by 51 per cent in the former and 49 per cent in the latter. But this does not make a significant dent in the overall postgraduate figures - which show a 1 per cent decline in international postgraduate students in English universities between 2010 and 2011 - because the declines from the Indian subcontinent are partially offset by rises in the numbers from China, which have increased 44 per cent.

University vice-chancellors have long argued that new restrictions in student visas, such as the closure of the route that previously allowed overseas students to stay and work in the UK for two years after the end of their degrees, have deterred some of the brightest from coming to Britain.
The report authors warn that although the number of international students enrolling on undergraduate courses is still rising, the wider picture is more worrying, especially given the declines in postgraduate numbers.

"There is a risk that future growth will not materialise at the level forecast and any reduction could have a major impact on institutions' financial positions," the report reads.

Professor Madeleine Atkins, chief executive of HEFCE, said that students enriched universities and colleges "academically, culturally, and through their contribution to the economy".
She added: "Supporting high-quality international education is a crucial part of ensuring that the UK continues to engage with, and benefit from, the increasingly interconnected world."

Sally Hunt, general secretary of the UCU union, urged ministers to do more to encourage foreign students given the uncertainties over university funding.

"Ministers need to recognise that attempts to sound tough on immigration at home are also reported elsewhere and it is not surprising if students consider studying in the countries that make an effort to welcome them," Ms Hunt said.

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, which oversees universities, said there was "no cap" on the number of legitimate students allowed to study in the UK.

Campaigners protest in Parliament Square over the deportation of the student to Mauritius
02 April 2014

A judge has refused to grant an emergency injunction to block the deportation of Mauritian student Yashika Bageerathi.
Appeal judge Lord Justice Richards refused to order a stay in a telephone hearing this evening.

The student's lawyers lodged papers at London's Law Courts seeking an emergency injunction to stop the deportation and give the 19-year-old time to take her case to the Court of Appeal.

Ms Bageerathi is due to be on board an Air Mauritius flight at 9pm tonight, according to her school, the Oasis Academy Hadley in Enfield.

A spokesman said they were disappointed after the judge's decision was announced.

He said: "We thought there was a solid legal case for her to stay while she finished her A-levels. It's worrying the legal system doesn't reflect the heart of the people of this country.

"But the plane hasn't taken off yet. This isn't over until it's over. We now ask Air Mauritius not to take Yashika on the plane.

Facing deportation: Yashika Bageerathi (Picture: PA)
"We're encouraging everyone to tweet Air Mauritius and to phone them to stop this."

The teenager's distressed mother could barely speak through her tears as she begged the authorities to allow Yashika to stay just long enough to finish her A-levels.

Sowbhagyawatee Bageerathi told Channel 4 News: "Where she is going, she is worried about the life and the education. She has worked so hard here and now they want to ruin her life."

Mrs Bageerathi, who was comforted by Yashika's headteacher Lynne Dawes as she struggled not to break down, said: "I am very sad for my daughter. I am very worried. I want everybody to go together and not to send her alone. "

She promised that she would leave Britain with her two other children who are at school in England, if the authorities had a change of heart and did not deport Yashika.

Air Mauritius was this afternoon being inundated with messages on Twitter and Facebook as supporters tried to put pressure on the airline to refuse to carry her on the flight.

A petition to grant Yashika leave to remain accrued more than 150,000 signatures.

Ms Dawes also told MPs that Yashika is a "quiet and reserved" but promising student with a 100 per cent attendance record. Yashika is due to sit her A-Level exams between May 14 and June 23.

She first came to the UK to escape a physically abusive relative, and claimed asylum last month. Her age means she is not protected by deportation rules designed to spare children who are sitting exams.

But Immigration Minister James Brokenshire said her circumstances were not of the "exceptional nature" required for him to intervene in the deportation process.

Enfield Southgate's Tory MP David Burrowes, who has campaigned on Yashika's behalf, confirmed on Twitter that she was being taken to Heathrow this afternoon.
