(salaam)

I was sent a video today by another member in which they discuss non Muslim celebrities and ask if they will go to Jannah.

Video not posted yet, inshaAllah I or the brother will post the Halalified video later.

What's your say?

Why is it regarding non Muslim celebrities and not just non Muslims. Any specific reason why celebrity is mentioned?

Islam in the Amazon and Rainforests

Question:

A question out of curiosity ,how will the situation be of those people living in places on earth like the rainforests or the indigenous in the Amazon, they don't know about Islam or anything they are brought up cut off from this world affairs how will their situation be on day of judgment will they still be accountable? The case being that they never encountered anyone who has told them about Allah and Islam?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salamu 'alaykum wa-rahmatullahi wa-barakatuh.

Living in this time and era famously known as a 'global jungle', it is highly impossible for one not to have contact with modern society. Technology has become the norm of the day. Research, studying, communicating, business and even shopping could be done in the comfort of one's home without even moving. Today, almost anything and everything could be searched for on the internet. Therefore, there remains no excuse for a person not receiving the message of Islam.

However, in a hypothetical situation, some people may not have any contact with our modern society. For example; Brazil's Amazon is home to more uncontacted tribes than anywhere in the world who haven't had any contact with our society and depend solely on the resources of nature. There are thought to have at least 77 isolated groups in this rainforest, according to the government's Indian affairs department FUNAI. [1]

Regarding such people, there are differences of opinion amongst the scholars as to what would be the faith of a person who did not receive the message of Islam. The great Muhaddith, Ibn Hajar Asqalaani and other great scholars opined that such a person will be tested in the hereafter and would be dealt with justly.[2]

It is sufficient for a person to recognize Allah by merely comprehending over the magnificence of nature. A person living in the amazon or in rainforests is surrounded by nature every second of his life. If such a person has to comprehend over the reality of nature and its creation, ultimately it would be realized that there is only one Creator and one Lord-Allah. This is apart from witnessing Allah's power within one's own body; the eyes, the ears, the taste buds, the digestion of food and throwing out its toxins. There are innumerable (millions and more) clear indications of the existence of Allah around every individual. Allah left no excuse for any individual not to know Allah.

And Allah Ta'ala Knows Best

There are many good non Muslims and I would like to believe that they would go to Jannah, but I dont think they would, due to not meeting the criteria of believing in the kalimah.

But....I did hear a very long time ago in a talk, I can't recall correctly but something along the line of a non muslim not having received the call of Islam but being of commendable character and goodness, but really not sure on that one.

If I'm not mistaken, with the above fatwa and taking Surah Rahman into consideration, especially every other verse stressing "Which of the favours of your Lord will you deny" it's not possible for one to comprehend the oneness of Allah and the existence of Islam! So how is is possible that people can claim that Islam didn't reach them?

Also the lectures we hear about "Intention", who are these people doing their good deeds for? Aren't we taught they will be asked to get the reward from other than Allah ?

Sorry posted above at same time, interesting response, so it was similar to what I remember جزاك الله خيرا

There are some non muslims who have never met a muslim, although the resources are available they've never looked into Islam, all they know about Islam is the negativity they see or hear.

There are names in this world, EVERY ONE has heard of.

Adam (as)
Muhammad Ali (boxer)
Jesus (as)
Usama bin Laden
911
And most importantly Muhammad (saw)

These are almost house hold names!
So how can anyone justify not knowing of a religious belief system?

Positive or Negative, Allah has given the Aql right? So is it stil valid to say that some people may not be aware of Islam or monotheism?

السلام عليكم

Here is the said clip/video that's in question

Walahu'Alam

I don't know what to say but sounds a bit modernist to me, this reason I say that is because I have come across people who think non Muslims might go Jannah for the good they do, fair enough credit given where it's due, many non Muslims are very charitable and devote themselves to helping others, but for me it doesn't negate the fact that no kalima then no entry to Jannah, otherwise everyone can be making claims to heaven and other religions do, in the Quran Allah says ( to the nearest meaning that he has chosen Islam for us.However I could be wrong and I'm willing to be corrected in regards to the link posted. I've always believed who ever believes in the Kalima and accepts is a muslim and will go Jannah, I don't know how anyone can believe anything else especially in the modern times we live today, where information is available at your fingertips.

I've also heard that you can never say a good non muslim is better than an inferior muslim, as there is no comparison to a person with imaan to one who has none, based on just good deeds. Allahuallam.

I think that's an ayah of the Quran ?

In regards to me people not knowing about Islam, who can seriously make that claim in this day and age ? Perhaps some amazon tribe or some abrogijines in Australlia. Information is available at the touch of a button, missionaries of all sorts are at work everywhere, and to top it the tableegh jamaat brothers travel virtually everywhere, if they're were people on the moon, I'm sure they'd even go there too.

(bism1)

(salaam)

I would not put my full trust in the video. Im not going to label the guy a modernist, but at the same time, dont take the video as a fatwa.

For one thing, he says that we cannot pass a verdict (i.e. whether a person is in Jannah or Jahannum) on anyone unless its been clearly stated in Ahadith or Qur'an (then he gave a few examples, abu lahab etc..). I don't think this is correct. If we know a person has died a kaafir, then it is obligatory to believe that there fate is the hellfire. For example, Steve Jobs died a kaafir. Whether we like it or not, his fate is Jahannum. And Im sure a person like Steve Jobs knew enough about Islam to be held accountable.

Every person, once they reach the age of maturity, is responsible to seek out the truth. The 'Ulama (particularly the Hanafi's) says that even if a person never received the message of Islam (ex; they lived on some uncharted island in isolation from humanity), then they will still be judged on whether they believed in one God or not. This is because it is from the fitrah to recognize that there is a Creator, and He is One. This is a conclusion anyone can reach simply by observing himself and the creation around him. Other 'ulama say such a person will be tested on the Day of Judgement. Either way, justice will be served.

So how can we say that we are unsure of the fate of such famous deceased people (Ghandi, Mother Theresa, Paul Walker, Mandela etc...), when it is obvious that they have at least heard about Islam, yet chose to ignore its message. Such people are in the hellfire because they died in a state of kufr. Simple as that.

Now if you are unsure in what state a person died, thats a different story. In this case, its best to stay silent.

Wallahu A'lam.

wassalaam.
