In the name of Allah (SWT), the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Dear Respected and Honourable Muhammad Zubair Mughal (HA),
Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,
First and foremost I request your duas for me and my family and then pray that Allah (SWT) gives you and your team the best of success in this world and the next (Ameen).
Dear Shaykh, I read your recent article entitled, "Halal Soap & the Issue of Haram Ingredient " with some trepidation and reservation. In my humble and unqualified opinion it raises a few concerns by bringing together uncollaborated facts and figures.
The market is governed differently in various countries and your article doesn't make clear as to which Market research of which country is it quoting and following? In UK there are plenty of soaps which don't use any animal products whatsoever and are clearly labelled "Suitable for Vegetarians" or "Suitable for vegans". In USA and rest of the west for ethical reasons there are products which neither use animal products nor are tested on animals.
It even states in al-hadiyyat al-ala'iyya by Ala'uddin that even if PIG is used the resulting soap (due to transformation) will be pure to be used and consumed.
وتطهر نجاسة استحالت عينها ، كأن صارت ملحا أو كان احترقت بالنار فصارت رمادا او الخنزير صار صابونا و لو كان الزيت نجسا أو العذرة صارت حمأة فيطهر أيضا
You are within your right to write but I do request that you acknowledge the opinion of a number of Ulamah on the matter and also state the geographic limitations of your research so a vast number of Muslims are not unduly alarmed.
Jazakallahu Khayran
