The issue at hand hear is the use of certain words for different actions in Deen. The ulama have clearly shown the permissibility of this from Qur'an and Hadith.

Unhelpful remarks from guest has lead to the few posts above from abu muhammed bringing out uncalled for statements in my opinion. No need to react to them posts , seems the bitterness within (justified or not) ghuses out when push comes to shove.

no matter how hard you try, ghazi can only be translated as warrior/soldier. it cannot be translated as anything else.

That being said, I do agree with bro Sulaiman that this word can have multiple meanings as explained by the 'ulamaa'. I personally don't know any hadith like that, and maybe Hafiz Sulaiman doesn't either, but thats fine. We are not 'ulamaa here. I suggest you pose this question to the 'ulamaa, and they may be able to pull out a hadith for you.

instead should it not have been translated as 'striver'? but then that would be the incorrect translation as the correct translation would be warrior.
