Shaykh saleem nawab is very experienced in tafsir. I have yet to see anybody who can compare to him in tafsir. Many years ago mufti menk came and shaykh saleem gave his spot out of respect to mufti menk (before mufti menk became famous). Anyway the tafsir given by mufti menk was vastly inferior in many ways to the tafsir given by shaykh saleem. With shaykh saleem he pulls out all sorts of quotes from many sources. You could tell he is well read. He quotes the various books of tafsir, deobandi+non-deobandi, classical+modern, links the ahadeeth on the topic, some nice stories and most important of all it's everyday application. I wish he would write at least a tafsir on a surah. I asked him a few times but no luck. He has the very good habit of attending all lectures by various scholars and taking notes. He must have notepads of such notes. Once again if maulana could translate or publish them it would be useful.

Mufti Menk or NAK isn't about Tafseer and that's the fundamental issue that the Deobandees need to understand. Any serious student of Tafseer will not listen to a Tafseer like so and will actually study grammatical Arabic and refer to classical Tafseers and laymen will get bored of Qur'aan lessons lasting years and years and years...

There is a disconnect here which needs to be understood.

Brother london we will be teaming up with molana saleem on sunday, couldve arranged a seat for you right next to him...

Many ulama speak very highley of molana saleem and his tafseer.

On a side note I would agree with bro muadh, a alim commented on certain shaykhs saying content wise you cannot match our ulama, but delivery, style amongst other things we are failing which is leading disconnection with the next generation.

Got to go Thursday night and you where we roll on this night ........

shaykh the issue you have mentioned is correct. That is why there should be various layers of tafsir like hazrat lahori rh. Tafsir for laymen can be daily, short and succint. In-depth tafsir for some once a week, whilst in-depth, in-depth for ulema and students of knowledge looking at the intricacies. This would give a boost to darse e nizami grads and after a few years they would have the neccesary training and can become mufasireen etc.
