Kindly excuse me - I am Indian Muslim and I greatly admire Tayep Ardogan. Actually it seems to me you - the writer of the article is too na�ve of the world politics.
Indeed I share with some of the bloggers opinion here that the Jewish lobby are fomenting turmoil in Turkey in order to create confusion and derail and harm development there. The writer, I am afraid have not appreciated how this government is systematically trying to establish a balanced democracy with Islamic principles. The police has very rightly tried to control the anarchy - these trouble makers are funded from the Jewish agents and if they are allowed to have their say they will transform Turkey in to another European - economically bankrupt and morally and ethically unjust state. May the Almighty God protect Turkey from such misfortune. Amean. Mohammed

Yes, although Turkey is far from perfect the current regime has done more than any other. Even if we were to accept the OP opinion of the regime the alternatives are far more bleaker with clear cut kafir/munafiq individuals and agendas.

It is possible that our respected Sister AishaZaynap is part of the Gülen movement or at least influenced by them in some way. All the news sources about Turkey she quotes are from this movement and these are the people who are opposing AKP.

Sister Acacia on the other hand clarified herself in another post that she is not part of this movement or any other movement and is independent.

Brothers, I agree with all you have written and I can not fill in any gaps because it is clear to me that you all have far more knowledge on Turkey and politics than I do (or interest for that matter). Brother Muadh_Khan, your summary of Gezi is, as far as I can tell, spot on and nice and concise.

The problem our beloved sister AishaZaynab is highlighting is NATIONALISM and SECULARISM. These are two 'diseases' if you will (at least for this example) that many Turks, young and old, are dealing with. Many are comfortable with these feelings, others are not. I believe our beloved sister falls under category #2 - correct me if I am wrong dear sister.

Without expressing anger and disappointment (alhamdulillah, so far everyone has been really kind so no issues so far), can we help our beloved sister here as well as anyone else who may be reading these posts now and into the future. How can we reach out to those who have lived their lives being injected with national pride and secular ideologies? Those brothers and sisters who feel uncomfortable with these feelings yet can't seem to break free. Any constructive feedback would be much appreciated insha'Allah.
