Even when positives outweigh the negatives in our lives, isnt that a sign of ingratitude towards our creator by remaining negative when receiving negative....a positive outlook on whatever negative comes our way, must surely be the healthiest and best way forward to contentment...no?

But doesn't almost everything have two meanings depending on how it's read or who is reading it?

"Allah is One, Alone"

We see it as "Allah is alone worthy of worship and He will never have a partner"

To those who have not been blessed with Imaan will read it as,

"Allah is One, but we have many so we have more concluding we are better. Allah is Alone whereas our Gods have company and families" - Missing the point completely

So yes, I'd probably phrase it as "Upside Down or Downside Up"

In that case, unfortunately there is no Islamic message but that wasn't the intent of this thread :( I think the purpose or intent is lost somewhere in translation... but doesn't this prove the point again. Uh, never-mind.

To clarify further insha'Allah - within the context of the Islamic medium you've made available here, insha'Allah we can share other angles (Islamic) that may not necessarily come across as readily as what may have been intended when we read such messages. I don't know how many of the members come from practicing backgrounds but I know at least one member who doesn't and is still learning. So, insha'Allah recognizing these subtleties might make it easier for some to understand others. Claro?

As an example - the first example I gave under this thread was the reason I wanted to start the thread in the first place. Unlike some who are divorcing their technology to spend time with their real families (masha'Allah) and others who may be surrounded by all sorts of good company (masha'Allah), the reality is that for some of us making drastic changes in our lives can be a bit isolating - especially for sisters. I'd hate to think that such isolation is due to all the wrong things... right? So, just wanted to put that out there without taking away from the other thread.

And, since this wasn't the first time I had that sort of "yeah but..." "well actually..." "have you considered..." types of moments so insha'Allah this space is okay to share such thoughts specifically in relation to mainstream, day-to-day, words of wisdom.

Reminds of a thread started by respected bro maripat on sf.
It was to critically analyse words of wisdoms from Islamic perspective.

For example, there is a quote: God help those who help themselves.
But when you think Islamically, you will know-God help those who help God(by being helpful to his creation).

Each quote, probably gives a different meaning to each one of us, I posted it because I could relate to it in the following manner...

Turn to Allah for all your issues, because truly only he cares and wants to listen to you, you can turn to people maybe once, twice, or three times, but in the end they get fed up and lose interest. So your better off turning to Allah in the first place.

Personally my trust has been broken many times, which proves to me most people don't care, or just want to know your issues, because it gives them satisfaction knowing your in difficulty.

However i would say there is only one god fearing person I trust, even then I don't like to burden them, so I only turn to them only if and when I'm really stuck and need advice, but Allah is now always my first and last place of call for all my needs إن شاء الله
