There are a couple of radio stations in the UK that I know of, which are literally followed by the masses, I think it's a seasonal broadcast, mainly Ramadhan, there are only sister programs, programs where sisters are interviewed by male brothers, where friendliness, joking amongst the sisters, is broadcasted.

Shockingly people who listen to these programs think nothing of it. All under the name of Islam and Deen.

A month of ibadah, turned into a month of nasheeds, call in's, nasheed and announcement requests, activities for charity, fundraising, etc, etc, etc...

Where is the time to connect to Allah?
Where is the time to recite qur'aan?
Where is the time for taleem?
Where is the time to turn to Allah سبحانه وتعالى and make dua?
Where is the nur and barakah of Ramadhan?
Where is the purpose of fasting?

Either way cii IS wrong, no doubt.

Even if they had permission from the sisters to broadcast it, it was STILL wrong. However IF they did have permission, then the sisters are EQUALLY wrong. Yes, if the sisters were genuinely unaware, they definitely cannot be responsible.

Regarding the SF sisters section question: If i write in a way that's inappropriate for men to read, i wont be sinning coz its sisters only, but if i KNOW that post is going to be made public and i still write it, i will be sinning.

  1. IF the Sisters sinned
  2. Cii hugely magnified and compunded the sin

My discussions is about Cii and this show.

It is Haram to speculate in Islam about someone and we are commanded to assume the best in our Muslim Brothers and Sisters so in the absence of clear cut evidence I have to assume that the Sisters (even if they recorded it) didn’t intend this for men!

Versus this is clear cut evidence that Cii broadcasted it. If the Sister intended and gave permission for the broadcast they in no way set the policy at Cii. Cii must have came across this (program) and then sought permission and then broadcast it.

I spoke about you writing inappropriately in Sisters (private) section so you may be sinning but if someone makes that public then this is PUNISHABLE in Islam because you should expect privacy of private section to be respected.

So I respectfully disagree with you on publicising and appropriating blame. A Muslim woman has the right to laugh, smile and joke in the presence of women and she shouldn’t be subjected to the psychological torture of thinking that her behaviour will be publicised.

The culprits who make such things public are wrong! We need to give our daughters some breathing space and freedom and not suffocate them and make them look over their shoulders to think the "maybe question"...Absolutely not!

Sisters should be given the freedom and protection to be "women" in their privacy.

IF the event was PRIVATE and intended to REMAIN PRIVATE, I agree with you. Cii should have respected the privacy of the occasion and left it at that.

If not, i agree to disagree. Plz do let us know if cii responds though, inshaAllah.

Jazakallah.

Even if the event was not private an "Islamic Radio station" should have strong Islamic ethos and framework.

Very true. Muslim women too should have very strong etho's and morals.

Look i don't mean to sound rude but i just want to be fair. As you can see from my previous posts, i agree 10,000% that cii should NOT have broadcasted the event even if it was authorized by the organizers. All the same..........

Lets just wait and see how they respond, if they respond. Atm everything is just based on assumptions.

Sister,

Would you like to discuss this systematically or simply agree to disagree because in my opinion you are mistaken.

I wouldn't like to discuss this further, at least until we know for sure what happened. Its difficult and pointless to dicuss an isuue without knowing the exact facts. Sorry if i offended you.

It seems to me the issue is: whether or not the sister's only event was deliberately aired in order to draw attention to it, not to arouse male desires per se but to draw attention to ISOC sisters' gatherings in general so as to undermine their efforts and have more people question whether or not they want to go themselves or allow their sisters, daughters, and so on to attend such gatherings? In other words - to make it doubtful.

If that was the case and if it made any sister question whether she was guilty, then the objective has been achieved. Also, if brothers then came to question whether or not they would continue to allow their sisters or daughters and so on to attend further ISOC sisters' only gatherings (i.e. not allow them), then again, the objective has been achieved.

If this is the case, then it is not fair at all to sisters and as an institution meant to serve the Muslim community as a whole (world-wide), the responsibility falls squarely on the shoulders of those who chose to broadcast an event sisters attending would have presumed was really strictly a 'sisters only' event.

I've listened to Cii a few times by following links to it. I enjoyed their Legends of the Black Flags series but I'm not knowledgeable and so I don't stand a chance when it comes to picking up on subtle (and sometimes even obvious) nuances... can't listen with a critical ear.

I'm not familiar with ISOC though I've noticed debates about it in the past where some are quite opposed to ISOC events.

I have no idea if the two are at all connected.

Sister, you didn't offend me and there is no reason to get offended. But you have Aapa Taalibah have both once again second guessed and presumed the worst before giving someone a chance to speak and set the tone for an argument where none exists and there is no need for one.

I asked for your permission to discuss an issue further, its called courtesy and it should be appreciated and not penalised and mistaken to be an invitation for refutation.

Requesting your duas.

Assalaamu 'Alaykum

Any replies from Cii? Perhaps after another one or two "friendly reminders" we can employ Maulana Yasin's suggestions of threatening them for a reply... :-o

Meaning, you asked out of courtesy so i should have agreed out of courtesy...? I tend to think more along the lines of honesty than courtesy. Plz do continue if you wish to. Honest suggestion.

Could you kindly explain how me and poor innocent apa taaliba ''presumed the worst before giving someone a chance to speak''...?

Thanks 4 being un-offended.

Request for duas.

There is no problem with you declining the request because I asked so you have the right to decline. But the part about being offended and Aapa’s general nudging and the rest of your post points that further discussion may get ugly.

Sister, in life people discuss and then agree to disagree. There is nothing wrong with a healthy discussion and then disagreeing, particularly where Islam is concerned as you consult with Ulamah and take the best opinion.

What is dangerous is curtailing (public) discussion, pre-empting strife (and strong feelings) and preventing discussion; this is what got SF in the state that it is in today.

Mufti Saeed Saheb (HA) in his lectures on Hujjatulllah-il-Baligha states that disagreement is a sign of intellect that people are actually thinking, pondering and considering.

Instead of stifling discussions, people should be taught on “how to disagree” ...If disagreements and discussions were thwarted we wouldn’t have 4 Madhabs today

This is precisely what the Bandit-King and his Scholars for Dollars have been trying to do in the Ummah ; destory diversity, stifle discussion and enforce one opinion!

I was trying to have a discussion with my Sister and not trying to show off my intellectual prowess or throw words around in this air so there is no point in making an argument where none exists.

Jazakallahu Khayran for your patience and gratitude.

Oh we weren't fighting. We we just discussing and got a bit tired (at least i did), then you asked if i want to continue this discussion and since i really did not feel like it, i said no. Not to stifle your opinion/comments, but because i did not see the point in discussing the issue further. Also i said what i needed to already and would have just been repeating myself.

About the 'offended' part. I only said that because i'm not good at arguing my point without sounding argumentative.

Now please feel to post your thoughts. I'll do the same, if i have anything new to say.

Barakallah.
