I once heard a talk by Mawlana Yusuf Karaan at a majlis where another 'alim asked him to elaborate on the term "Deobandism". Mawlana Karaan replied: "It is Ittiba' Qur'an and Ittiba' Sunnah".
I was discussing with a brother regarding what "Deobandism" is today and what it "was" or what the founders of the madrassah in Deoband had in mind.
Hence I ask these questions here and please feel free to answer and let us have a constructive discussion surrounding it.
1. What is the meaning of Deobandiyyah/Deobandism to you?
2. What is the legacy of the early/initial 'ulama and akabirin of Deoband in your understanding?
3. Do you believe the youth (including mainstream Dar al-'Ulum graduates) today understand the above?

2. the scholar's words you've quoted: "It is Ittiba' Qur'an and Ittiba' Sunnah". 3. I don't know about ordinary youth but "mainstream Darul Uloom graduates", yes they do understand. I have three in my immediate family
