AAWW, on my mind for some time (maybe other peoples minds too). I may just been looking at this the wrong way so other peoples views and experiences would be most welcome.
Why do ‘our’ brothers insist on using Fazail Amaal to do taleem at work. Usually most work places (in London anyway) have a very mixed crowd so using books like Fazail Amaal may not (for whichever reason) sit comfortably with ‘some’. If ALL/MOST the attending congregation are more comfortable with some think Riyadus Saaliheen why cant that be read instead. We had two brothers who used to pray with the main salaah congregation at work but now dont – i have a hunch its do to with ‘our’ brothers being adamant in reading Fazail Amaal. Both these brothers mashallah i found to be good brothers (ones a non extreme salafi and the others a hanafi whos close to Shaykh Akram Nadwi)
Another thing
Theres numerous anecdotes of past Ulama and pious individuals (May Allahs mercy be on all their souls) from India in Fazail Amaal thats almost impossible for someone whos in his mid 20s in London, New York etc and has never been to Indo-Pak nor intends to (ever) go, to relate to. It would be nice if in future a revised version (if revised!) could replace some (i.e not even all) of those anecdotes with more recent anecdotes from UK, USA just so a contemporary crowd can relate to the anecdotes a little more.
p.s. please dont take this the wrong way i.e. nothing to do with some nut case's usual allegations and misunderstandings about using weak hadith etc for the purposes of virtues or drawing inspiration/lessons from (i.e. non-fiqhi)
