Assalamu alaykum,

Could any of the South African brothers tell me about these Ulama?

Maulana Yusuf Tootla - was reading about him and his fikr for the South African people.
Maulana Sulaiman Pandor
Maulana Ebrahim Pandor - heard he is one of the top khulafa of Hazrat Shaykh rahimahullah and Mufti Mahmud rahimahullah
Maulana Musa Pandor - are all three brothers?
Maulana Ahmad Mian
Maulana Muhammad Gardee
Mufti Basheer Hassan Ahmed
Maulana Ahmed Durwesh
Maulana Ebrahim Mia - listened to his bayans a lot from kmsz.org.za
Haji Ahmed Nakhuda

May Allah preserve them all.

Do they all speak English? Are any of their bayans available online? Are they asaatidha or zimmedar saathis or are they mostly involved in zikr and khanqahi efforts? What are their mureeds like? How come the khulafa of Mufti Mahmud Hasan Saheb, Maulana Maseehullah Khan Saheb and Hakeem Akhter Saheb rahmatullahi alayhim are more well known?

Assalaamu 'Alaykum

I am not fully aware of all the mashaykh mentioned however I will provide info that I do have.

Regarding Mawlana Ibrahim Pandor, who is regarded as the most senior khalifa of Mufti Mahmud Hasan Gangohi, then see the following links:

Brief notes taken from the book Mufti Mahmud Hasan: His Life and Works - ulamadeoband.wordpress.com/2013/07/09/mawlana-ibrahim-pan...
Points mentioned by Mufti Jawid, Mawlana Shamli and other on SF - www.sunniforum.com/forum/showthread.php?35288-SHORT-NOTIC...
Visit of Mawlana to the Darul Iftaa of Mufti Ebrahim Desai - darulfiqh.com/the-visit-of-hadhrat-maulana-ibrahim-pandor...

Hajji Ahmad Nakhuda Muhajjir Madani was born and raised in South Africa but is a resident of Madinah Munawwarah. He is quite old and does not keep too well. People that do regularly go to Madinah will know about him so you may ask them. He is also related to Mawlana Isma'il Nakhuda who currently resides in the UK and more info can be gleaned from him as well.

Mawlana Yusuf Tootla was the host of Hadhrat Shaykh during his I'tikaf of 1981 in Stanger, South Africa. Dr. Ismail Memon of USA has written in detail about this Ramadan of '81 in his book The Ramadan of Shaykh al-Hadith
Here is one Jumuah lecture I found delivered by the Mawlana. www.iic.org.za/index.php?option=com_phocadownload&view=ca...

Jazakllah bhai. I appreciate it very much. I had already found almost everything on the internet through Google and SF, so I was wondering how I missed that article on ulamadeoband.wordpress.com....until I saw the date.

Also, kmsz.org.za has Maulana Ebrahim Mia's bayanat as well as a few of Haji Ahmed Nakhuda, Mufti Basheer and Maulana Gardee.

May Allah preserve them.

Mawlana Ibrahim Mia was born on the 19th November 1947 in Lydenburg, South Africa. He was the son of the late Hafiz 'Abd al-Rahman Mia who was known as "the father of South African Huffaz". After his initial learning locally, Mawlana Ibrahim proceeded to Dabhel to study at the Jami'ah Islamiyya Talim al-Din. Mawlana's grandfather, Haji Ibrahim Mia of Simlak, Gujrat was instrumental in establishing this madrassah. Mawlana Ibrahim once said that he feels it was due to 'Allamah Anwar Shah al-Kashmiri spending some time at the home of his grandfather, after he had left Deoband, that piety has been passed on through the family generations.

Mawlana Ibrahim went on to Dar al-'Ulum Deoband were he completed the last two years of his 'alim course. Amongst his teachers were the likes of Mawlana Sayyid Fakhr al-Din al-Muradabadi, Mawlana Sayyid Anzar al-Kashmiri, Mufti Mahmud al-Gangohi and others. Mawlana Ibrahim use to go to Saharanpur upon the advice of his teachers, in particular Mufti al-Gangohi, during the holidays to sit in the company of Shaykh al-Hadith Mawlana Zakariyya al-Kandhlawi. Once, during the second ten days of Ramadan he along with his colleague, Mawlana Nanabhay of South Africa, had the privilege of taking the bay'ah (pledge) at the hands of Mawlana al-Kandhlawi physically placing his hands in the hands of Mawlana al-Kandhlawi. When Mawlana al-Kandhlawi migrated to Madinah he also went with him and spent a period of time. He was later granted khilafat (successor) as well.

Mawlana Ibrahim was instrumental in popularising and publishing a lot of the works of Mawlana al-Kandhlawi in English. In particular during the 1981 I'tikaf of Mawlana al-Kandhlawi in Stanger, Durban, Mawlana Ibrahim proposed to extract the 40 duruds from Shaykh al-Hadiths book, Fada'il al-Durud, and publish it separately. Mawlana al-Kandhlawi permitted and made lots of dua upon this.

Mawlana Ibrahim founded in Lenasia a khanqah and a madrassah for girls under the name of Mawlana al-Kandhlawi. This institute is known as Khanqah Masjid Shaykh Zakariyya and was established in 1991. Before this he was at the Ja'mia Masjid in Lenasia.

Amongst the salient features of Mawlana Ibrahim was that he personally replied and responded to all correspondence including letters, emails, sms' as well as returning missed calls to numbers that he did not know. This is a lesson for all of us to learn and is from the Sunnah. He was extremely mindful of the Sunnah and would try to implement the Sunnah and speak about the Sunnah extensively. An incident mentioned is that before he left for India a senior 'alim who is also a Shaykh along with his murids. Some food, snacks, etc. was brought for the guest and given to one of the murids to serve. The person first went to his Shaykh and Mawlana Ibrahim immediately told him not to do so and to being serving from the right as per the Hadith!

Above mainly taken from a talk on the life of Mawlana Ibrahim Mia which took place after his demise (download) as well as a tribute program held on Radio Islam featuring his sons, khulafa' and other 'ulama.

Some ecordings of Mufti Basheer Amod's pre-Jumuah bayans can be found on this website:
iic.org.za/index.php?option=com_phocadownload&view=catego...
masha'allah, I like his talks a lot. frank, simple, bold.

There also some bayans, without and without translations, of other khulafa of Hazrat Shaykh rahimahullah like Maulana Talha, Maulana Azizur-rahman and Maulana Salman. as well as many other Ulama.

-----------------------

Here's a pre-Jumuah talk by Maulana Ebrahim Pandor when he recently visited Toronto.
